Jordan reactivates Military Service Program with new conscription format
Momani said the program reflects the Crown Prince's vision to strengthen national identity. He noted that nearly a year ago, Prime Minister Jafar Hassan issued instructions to start planning and implementing the program.
He added that in next Wednesday's cabinet meeting, the government will present the reasons for approval to the National Assembly.
'The program aims to reinforce Jordanian national identity, shape the character of our youth, and familiarize them with the values of the army, including dedication and discipline,' Momani said.
The new program will consist of two tracks: a military track, which forms the majority of the program, and a knowledge-based theoretical track.
Momani emphasized that the necessary resources to implement the program will be allocated from this year's emergency expenditure fund to prepare for the National Service Program.
He also announced that the program will begin for individuals born in 2007 and for those who turn 18 by January 1, 2026. The first phase will include 6,000 participants: 1,500 from Amman, 900 from Zarqa, 900 from Irbid, and 300 from other governorates.
'The selection mechanism will be electronic, using a neutral statistical lottery method based on clear scientific criteria to ensure fairness,' Momani said. 'This methodology will randomly select participants from a single database containing all Jordanian males born in 2007.'
He added that the 6,000 participants for next year will be divided into three phases, with each phase including 2,000 young men. 'The program will begin with these 6,000 participants to ensure the quality and effectiveness of the training and to meet its objectives at the highest standards,' Momani explained.
Momani also said the number of conscripts will increase to 10,000 as soon as possible, following a gradual plan to cover the majority of eligible participants in the coming years.
He confirmed that the Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army will directly oversee the National Service Program, and the upcoming conscription batch will be numbered 54.
'There will be no exceptions for those selected, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince has been firm on the importance of ensuring transparency,' Momani added.
Momani also noted that the program will consider exemptions as stipulated by law, such as for only sons or individuals who are medically unfit.
Brig. Gen. Mustafa Hiyari explained that individuals not called from the 2007 cohort or previous years must defer their National Service. He added that the first cycle of the program will begin on February 1, 2026, and that each year there will be three cycles, each lasting three months.
The military media director clarified that each participant will receive a monthly stipend of 100 Jordanian dinars and that mobile phones or direct communication with participants will not be allowed.

The General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions (GFJTU) and the Adaleh Center for Human Rights Studies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening the protection of workers' rights—whether Jordanian or migrant—and unifying efforts to ensure a decent and fair working environment for all. اضافة اعلان This memorandum stems from a shared belief that workers deserve equal opportunities and safe working conditions, and that cooperation between trade unions and civil society organizations represents a powerful force in defending human rights within the Jordanian labor market. Khaled Al-Fanatsah, President of the GFJTU, stated: 'Signing this memorandum with Adaleh Center is not merely symbolic—it reflects our joint will to build a genuine partnership that promotes a decent working environment for every worker. We believe that protecting workers—whether Jordanians or migrants—starts with facilitating their access to justice and providing them with legal support, which this memorandum aims to achieve. We also view this partnership as an opportunity to build the capacities of unionists and workers, and to launch advocacy campaigns that contribute to the development of labor policies and legislation, in a way that achieves social justice. This step is, above all, an investment in people and in the dignity of work, which we consider the essence of sustainable development.' On his part, Asim Rababa'a, CEO of the Adaleh Center for Human Rights Studies, affirmed: 'We are proud of this partnership with the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions because it opens up practical avenues to enhance access to justice for all workers—Jordanian and migrant alike—through direct legal support and case follow-up. We believe that social justice can only be achieved through collaboration between trade unions and civil society organizations. This memorandum will lead to field research, training, capacity building, and joint advocacy initiatives that contribute to improving the working environment in Jordan. What unites us is a shared commitment to every worker's right to dignity, protection, and justice.' Areas of Cooperation Include: Legal Support & Referral: Receiving labor-related cases, particularly those involving migrant workers and non-unionized workers, and providing appropriate legal advice and support. Training & Capacity Building: Organizing workshops and training sessions for unionists, workers, and employer representatives. Research & Studies: Conducting field and analytical studies to better understand the labor landscape in Jordan and propose practical solutions. Advocacy & Policy Influence: Launching joint campaigns to influence labor policies and legislation. Joint Project Development: Submitting initiatives and projects to donors in support of workers' rights and to strengthen the partnership between both parties. Through this collaboration, both parties affirm that workers' rights are not merely a union issue, but a human and societal cause, and that upholding these rights is the foundation for any fair and sustainable development in Jordan.

Yousef Hassan Al-Eisawi, Head of the Royal Hashemite Court, affirmed that Jordan, under its Hashemite leadership, has always been and will remain a model of stability, a beacon of modernization, and a firm voice in defending national and Arab causes, foremost among them the Palestinian issue. اضافة اعلان Al-Eisawi noted that King Abdullah II, with his wisdom and courage, has consistently embodied Jordan's authentic stance, always present in international forums defending rights and supporting just causes. He did not allow one crisis to distract him from another but moved with firm resolve to serve as the nation's voice and shield against challenges. These remarks came during Al-Eisawi's meeting on Monday at the Royal Hashemite Court with a delegation from the Al-Dheeb / Bani Sakher clan, attended by the King's Advisor for Tribal Affairs, Kna'an Al-Balawi. Al-Eisawi highlighted that since assuming constitutional powers, His Majesty has pursued a comprehensive developmental project aimed at building a modern, strong state capable of keeping pace with change. Political, economic, and administrative modernization have been key pillars of comprehensive reform, with programs launched to reflect the King's vision of institutional development, youth empowerment, and enhancing popular participation in decision-making. He added that the royal approach is based on continuous development and strategic planning, establishing an integrated system to advance the economy, stimulate investment, create jobs, and modernize legislation governing political life. This approach expands opportunities for citizen participation and reinforces Jordanians' confidence in their country's future, positioning the Kingdom as a model of responsible reform and sustainable development in the region. Al-Eisawi also praised the role of Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II in supporting the King's efforts, carrying the aspirations of youth and the torch of the nation's future. He stated that the program will serve as a national milestone fostering belonging, discipline, and providing youth with opportunities for active participation in serving their country. Al-Eisawi reaffirmed that the Palestinian cause remains central to Jordanian national consciousness and that King Abdullah II continues to be the foremost voice defending Palestinian rights and protecting Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem under the historic Hashemite custodianship. He stressed that Jordan, under the Hashemite leadership, has never wavered in supporting Palestine and has remained a strong pillar for it in various political and humanitarian forums. Regarding Jordan's efforts and the King's positions toward the people of Gaza, both politically and humanitarily, Al-Eisawi noted that Jordan has been at the forefront in providing aid and delivering assistance by land and air, affirming that Jordanian support for Gaza will remain a continuous act, unbound by time or decree. He emphasized that, despite the increasing global challenges, Jordan moves forward with confidence thanks to the wise leadership of the King and the awareness and unity of its people around enduring national principles. Al-Eisawi added that progress can only be achieved through determination, solidarity, and a firm stance behind the Hashemite leadership, which combines wisdom and prudence while working tirelessly for the nation's advancement and the preservation of its achievements. He condemned the expansionist rhetoric of the Israeli Prime Minister and the illusions of a 'Greater Israel,' describing them as evidence of a domestic political crisis and a desperate attempt to mislead public opinion and distract from failures. He affirmed that these false claims are rejected and exposed and cannot change historical or geographical facts nor Jordan's established principles and positions in defending Palestine and its people. Al-Eisawi also praised Queen Rania's role in supporting education, empowering women, and enhancing Jordan's positive image. He extended his respect to the Jordanian Armed Forces – Arab Army and security agencies for safeguarding national security and stability through their sacrifices and dedication. Speakers at the meeting affirmed that King Abdullah II's positions represent a solid foundation in defending national and Arab causes, particularly the Palestinian cause, which has always been a priority in his political and humanitarian initiatives. They concluded that the bond between the Hashemite leadership and the Jordanian people is enduring, rooted in loyalty, and strengthens with each challenge, forming a moral and spiritual connection to the nation. Loyalty to the Hashemite leadership is a legacy passed to future generations, ensuring that the Hashemite flag remains high and Jordan continues as a stronghold of justice and protection of rights. Finally, they condemned the expansionist rhetoric of the Israeli Prime Minister and the 'Greater Israel' illusions, stressing that such statements will not undermine Jordan's steadfast positions and principles.
