Kellanova begin production of All-Bran Fibre Plus at Wrexham

Leader Live02-07-2025
All-Bran has been produced at Wrexham since the factory first opened in 1978. The much-loved cereal will now be made using the latest technology which reduces production time, reducing the energy required to make the fibre-rich shreds.
New All-Bran Fibre Plus is being made following enhancements to the production line at Wrexham, which is now powered by renewable electricity. It will deliver the same great taste with a lighter, crunchier texture and fewer breakages leading to less dust at the bottom of the pack. The new branding highlights the important role All-Bran can play in helping consumers achieve their recommended daily fibre intake.
The move is part of a £75m investment in the factory, announced last October. As well as improvements on the All-Bran production line, two new advanced lines will be installed in the coming months to support the transition of other iconic Kellogg's cereals, including Corn Flakes and Crunchy Nut, to Wrexham.

(Image: City Press) An additional 130 jobs are also being created as a result of the investment, which will see cereal production at Wrexham more than double to around 1.5 million boxes a day.
Kellanova's UK managing director, Chris Silcock, said: 'It's great to see new All-Bran Fibre Plus running off the production lines at Wrexham, marking a major milestone in our ongoing investment at the site.
'Over the next 18 months, more of our iconic brands will move production to Wrexham, and it'll be great to see all our major cereals produced more efficiently and sustainably using the latest technology.'
MORE NEWS:
MP for Wrexham, Andrew Ranger said: 'Kellanova has been an important part of Wrexham for over 40 years and I welcome the increased investment in the Wrexham plant and the job opportunities this brings.
"On my recent visit to the factory, I learned about the important steps the company is making to ensure that production is faster and sustainable as well as the planned expansion of their lines and production here.
"This is vital for economic growth and further demonstrates the confidence companies have in investing in Wrexham.'

(Image: Kellogg's) Shoppers compare new Kellogg's cereal to discontinued favourite Kellogg's new Smacks cereal has already drawn comparisons to a discontinued favourite - Sugar Puffs. Sugar Puffs, made by Quaker Oats, were discontinued back in 2014, before being rebranded as Honey Monster Puffs. The new rebranded cereal featured a new recipe with less sugar and more honey. Discontinued UK sweets and chocolates Shoppers have taken to social media to share their excitement about the similarities between the two cereals. Commenting on a Facebook post by Snack Reviews about the new Kellogg's Smacks, one shopper said: "Omg sugar puffs! Literally love them!" Another added: "Hopefully taste like they old sugar puffs before the lowered the sugar amount." A third person posted: "I need to go get a few boxes , I love these , used to have them in Spain." LGBTQ bookstore to hold ‘wedding marathon' amid SCOTUS hearing on same-sex marriage

A Massachusetts bookstore is stepping in to help LGBTQ couples tie the knot as the U.S. Supreme Court considers whether to hear a case that could impact same-sex marriage rights. All She Wrote Books in Somerville, Massachusetts, announced it will host an LGBTQ 'wedding marathon' on August 30 from 1 to 5 p.m., under the banner 'Love Can't Wait Another Day.' The event will offer multiple couples the chance to marry 'without the cost or delay of a traditional wedding,' according to the shop's Instagram post. 'We can't believe it's come to this, but the clock could be ticking on LGBTQIA+ marriage rights,' the bookshop wrote online. 'We're not interested in waiting to see what happens, and neither is our community. That's why we're creating space for folks to say 'I do' ASAP.' Owner Christina Pascucci-Ciampa is rolling out in-store packages for the wedding marathon. The $500 package includes a private one-hour ceremony with a Justice of the Peace, professional photos, cupcakes, an optional toast with bubbly, a wedding gift from the store, and guidance on replicating legal documents should the right to equal marriage be overturned. Couples can bring up to 12 guests to witness their vows, or opt for a more intimate ceremony for just the two of them. 'What matters is making it official while we still can,' Pascucci-Ciampa wrote. Couples interested in participating are encouraged to reserve their spot in advance and must obtain a marriage license before the event. Information on marriage licenses in Somerville is available through the city's official resources. On July 24, former Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis filed a petition with the SCOTUS, requesting it to overturn the 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges decision that legalized same-sex marriage nationwide. Davis argues that her First Amendment rights to religious freedom should shield her from personal liability in the 2015 case where she refused to issue a marriage license to a same-sex couple due to her religious beliefs. In September 2023, a federal jury awarded the couple $100,000 in damages, and in December 2024, a judge added $260,000 in attorneys' fees and costs, totaling $360,000. Even if Obergefell is unlikely to be overturned, many in the LGBTQ+ community remain anxious about their rights, particularly given the SCOTUS' recent decisions to overturn Roe v. Wade and roll back affirmative action in college admissions.

US Kellogg's cereal similar to axed favourite spotted in major UK supermarket

The discontinued cereal was pulled from store shelves in 2014. Kellogg's cereals are a staple in many households. Offering everything for adults and kids, it's difficult to find one that we don't like. ‌ One that is popular in the US has travelled across the pond to the UK for the first time, and it is being compared to a fan-favourite that was axed from shelves over a decade ago. ‌ Shoppers have spotted the brand's packs of Kellogg's Smacks on shelves at a Morrisons supermarket, with a 330g box being priced at £2.50. ‌ A classic in the States, the puff wheat cereal boasts a classic crunchy texture and a honey-sweet taste. Since it is already sweetened, it does not need any extra sugar added for taste. However, on the Facebook Group Snack Reviews, where it was first posted last week, members have commented it seems as though it will taste very similar to Sugar Puffs that underwent an overhaul in 2014. Sharing their thoughts, one member said: "Basically Sugar Puffs then lol." Another agreed: "Definitely Sugar Puffs!!" Echoing the same sentiment, a third wrote: "They'll always be Sugar Puffs to me. They're puffed wheat and sugar." Even better, Morrisons has confirmed to the Daily Record that the US Kellogg's cereal can be found in 300 stores for the next two weeks. After a fortnight, they will be rolled out to all 419. ‌ Speaking of the cereal's appearance in UK stores, spokesperson for Kellanova, the company which owns Kellogg's, said: ''As shoppers have started to notice, our Smacks cereal is back for a limited time only. "On shelves in a select number of stores, the treat cereal is only making a brief return and once it's gone, it's gone!'' ‌ Sugar Puffs, made by Quaker Oats, was a popular UK cereal that first launched in 1957, although it was pulled off shelves and had to be rebranded in 2014 as Honey Monster Puffs. It came after the cereal underwent a recipe change after the government began to crack down on the sugar content of food products that were marketed towards children. ‌ The new recipe was adjusted to reduce the sugar content by 8 per cent and increase the honey content by 20 per cent compared to the original cereal. News of the cereal being spotted at Morrisons in the UK comes after Mars Wrigley brought back the nostalgic White Maltesers to stores earlier this year for the first time in 11 years. ‌ Axed back in 2014, the white chocolate version of the airy and crunchy chocolate bites officially made their comeback to supermarkets and retailers from June 16. That's not all, as the beloved Milky Way Crispy Rolls, which were discontinued in 2022, officially returned to store shelves in February, with two new flavours now available - Bounty and Twix. Kellogg's Smacks (330g) are now available in 300 Morrisons stores for the next two weeks before being rolled out to all 419.
