Arsenal star Ethan Nwaneri's stance on Chelsea transfer

Ethan Nwaneri will take his time and consider all options before he makes a decision on his long-term future.
The Arsenal midfielder enjoyed an impressive breakthrough campaign last season and established himself as a key member of Mikel Arteta's first team squad.
Nwaneri scored nine goals in 37 appearances in all competitions, but the numbers do not come close to justifying his impact, especially given he was asked to play the majority of his football in an unfamiliar role on the right wing, in the injury enforced absence of Bukayo Saka.
Once the club's talisman returned to full fitness, however, Nwaneri found himself back on the bench and given fewer opportunities to impress.
'There are moments and players are used more and less and he's played a lot, he's played probably more than anybody expected for sure,' said Arteta back in May, explaining his decision to ease the burden on Nwaneri.

'In the last few games it's because of the games and the context we decided not to play him that much, it can change very quickly.'
Ordinarily, that lack of football would not represent a concern but with just one year left on his current contract, Nwaneri is seeking assurances with regards playing time before he commits his future to his boyhood club.
The teenager signed a scholarship deal two years ago when his future was in doubt amid interest from Manchester City and Chelsea and penned his first professional contract in March 2024.
With Arsenal linked with the likes of Rodrygo, Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze, Nwaneri is considering his options, especially with an even younger talent, Max Dowman, set to be promoted and given an opportunity to impress in pre-season.
According to The Telegraph, Nwaneri's preference is to remain at Arsenal and progress has been made in talks over an extension in recent weeks.
Chelsea, however, have made an enquiry during the talks that took place during negotiations over the transfer of Noni Madueke.
Arsenal are already understood to have agreed personal terms with the England winger, but the two clubs are said to be a distance apart on a potential fee witch Chelsea valuing the 23-year-old at £50million.
The north London club have, meanwhile, finally announced the arrival of Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.
The Spain international, 26, moves to the Emirates Stadium on a long-term deal after the Gunners reportedly triggered his £51million release clause.
Euro 2024 winner Zubimendi had previously been a target for Liverpool and was also linked with Real Madrid.
Zubimendi told the club website: 'This is a huge moment in my career. It's the move I was looking for and one I wanted to make. As soon as you set foot here, you realise how big this club and this team are.
I set my sights on Arsenal because their style of play is a good fit for me. They have shown their potential recently and the best is yet to come.'
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is confident Zubimendi can help reinforce his midfield options, having seen Thomas Partey's contract expire and Jorginho also leave the club.
'Martin is a player who will bring a huge amount of quality and football intelligence to our team. He will fit in really well and he has all the attributes to be a key player for us,' Arteta said.
'The standard he has consistently performed at over the last few seasons for both club and country is exactly why we are so excited to have him with us. We all welcome Martin and his family to the club.'

Club World Cup 'world's most successful club competition'

Fifa president Gianni Infantino says the Club World Cup is "already the most successful club competition in the world", despite widespread criticism of the who has led world football's governing body since 2016, claims the competition has generated more than $2bn (£1.5bn) in revenue, which he says is worth "$33m (£24m) per match".As a result, he believes the tournament has been a "huge success", adding "the golden era of global club football has started".Infantino's words come just weeks after former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said the Club World Cup, which this year moved to the summer and expanded to 32 teams, was "the worst idea ever implemented in football".Many matches have been poorly attended, with more than a million empty seats during the tournament, while players like Jude Bellingham, Reece James and Enzo Fernandez have criticised the weather conditions and quality of the pitches in the United midfielder Fernandez said the heat was "very dangerous", while his manager Enzo Maresca complained it is "impossible" to have a normal training at Trump Tower in New York on the eve of Sunday's final between Chelsea and Paris St-Germain (20:00 BST), Infantino said: "The golden era of global club football has started. "We can say definitely that this Fifa Club World Cup has been a huge, huge, huge success. Of course, there are a lot of positives, some negatives. "We respect everyone's opinion. It has been successful. We have had over 2.5 million in the stadium. That's around 40,000 spectators per match - there is no league in the world with that number, except the Premier League which, of course, has home teams and these are neutral stadiums."We heard financially it would not work but I can say we generated over $2bn in revenues with this competition. We earned on average $33m per match. There is no other cup competition in the world that comes close to $33m per match. "It is already the most successful club competition in the world with all different measurements." Fifa will 'definitely use' covered stadiums during day at World Cup In New Jersey, where Sunday's final - set to be attended by US President Donald Trump - will take place, temperatures have reached 38C in recent accepted the high summer temperatures in the US are "definitely an issue" after Fernandez called on Fifa to consider player welfare before next summer's 2026 World this month, players' union Fifpro said it believed Chelsea's game against ES Tunis in Philadelphia, among others, should have been delayed or postponed because of the World Cup is due to take place in the US, Canada and Mexico over the same period next year."Of course, the heat is definitely an issue," said Infantino. "It's an issue around the world. I remember it was the same in the Olympics in Paris and in other football games. "The conditions need cooling breaks, watering the pitch and seeing how we can do things better. But we have stadiums in America that are covered and one in Canada in Vancouver which is covered, and we will definitely use these stadiums more during the day."Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium was the only covered stadium at the Club World Cup but the 2026 World Cup will have a further four options with roofs - Vancouver, Dallas, Houston and Los Angeles.

Joao Felix 'heading towards cut-price Chelsea exit' - as European club 'prepare to offer Blues HALF of what they paid to sign the forward' last summer

Benfica are reportedly preparing to launch a cut-price approach to sign Chelsea outcast Joao Felix. Felix joined Chelsea from Atletico Madrid in a deal worth £42million last summer, after previously enjoying a loan spell at Stamford Bridge in 2023. Despite netting on his second debut for the Blues, the 25-year-old quickly fell down the pecking order in west London and ultimately spent the latter half of the campaign on loan in Serie A with AC Milan. Enzo Maresca has since made clear his stance on Felix's future at the club, stripping the Portuguese of his squad number and leaving him out of Chelsea's squad for the Club World Cup. Reports from Portugal claim Benfica are interested in offering Felix a way out of Stamford Bridge, but finances have complicated a prospective deal. According to A Bola, Felix's agent, Jorge Mendes, met with Benfica chiefs regarding a potential return for Felix to his boyhood club. However, despite the club's interest in bringing their academy graduate home, any move would see Chelsea be forced to take a significant financial loss to get him off the books. Benfica are said to be willing to offer just €25million (£21.6m) to secure Felix's signature. That figure is less than a quarter of the €126m Atletico paid Benfica to sign a then-teenage Felix in 2019. That deal remains the fourth most expensive transfer in football history. Felix's substantial wages in west London could also serve as a significant stumbling block in any potential deal between the two clubs.
