The OnePlus Pad 3 is coming soon; here's how you can get up to $300 worth of freebies in the US
Do you want to buy a nice and ultra-advanced Android tablet with a cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Elite processor under the hood in the US? Unfortunately, that's not possible right now, but it will be very soon, and surprisingly or not, Samsung isn't going to be the one to sell you a high-end slate powered by the fastest Qualcomm chipset yet stateside. Instead, the sequel to last year's OnePlus Pad 2 has just been confirmed in the most OnePlus manner possible, getting an official launch date and revealing (part of) its design, as well as that crucial aforementioned selling point. That's right, no one knew this product existed prior to today, and now OnePlus wants its fans to mark June 5 in their calendar... apps and get ready to save big straight off the bat.
No, we don't know just yet how much the OnePlus Pad 3 will cost, but regardless of that, you'll be able to pre-order the unrivaled powerhouse with two gifts worth up to a whopping 270 bucks (in total). These freebies can be selected from a trio of very handy accessories including a "smart" keyboard, stylus, and folio case, and it really sounds like you should choose the former two items to maximize your savings and enhance the productivity, versatility, and convenience of your next Android tablet . Even better, OnePlus will let you slash $30 off... the unknown list price of the Pad 3 simply by hitting the "Subscribe now" now button on the company's dedicated product webpage today for "promotional and marketing communications." On top of everything else, all subscribers for this launch campaign will automatically enter a lottery with a very special (and valuable) prize: a high-end OnePlus 13R handset that goes nicely with an undoubtedly premium OnePlus Pad 3.
The OnePlus Pad 3 sure looks familiar, especially for keen watchers of the Chinese tablet market. | Image Credit -- OnePlus Advertised as "masterful by every measure", the OnePlus Pad 3 will apparently be available in a "stunning Storm Blue finish" starting June 5, and if history is any indication, its specifications could mimic those of the Oppo Pad 4 Pro, and confusingly enough, the OnePlus Pad 2 Pro. That means you should expect this to be yet another 13.2-inch affair with a fittingly hefty 12,140mAh battery, blazing fast 67W charging capabilities, razor-thin 6mm profile, and silky smooth 144Hz refresh rate-supporting IPS LCD screen. Of course, the US (and European) OnePlus Pad 3 will probably cost way more than the China-exclusive OnePlus Pad 2 Pro, and with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 -powered OnePlus Pad 2 normally fetching $550, there's a pretty good chance this improved sequel will set you back $600 or so. Considering that Apple's 13-inch iPad Pro (2024) typically starts at no less than $1,300, the (objective) answer to that question is "probably not." Granted, not all tablet users (and especially hardcore Apple fans) show "objectivity" when making a buying decision. But if you do want to make the smartest and most informed choice and don't just care about raw processing power at any cost, you have to consider the OnePlus Pad 3's pretty clear advantage in overall value over not only the best iPads around, but Samsung's Galaxy Tab S10 Plus and Tab S10 Ultra as well.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite will be a key selling point, but most likely not the only one. | Image Credit -- OnePlus
That's just one key detail to take into account from June 5, with everything else to be confirmed (and rigorously analyzed) "soon."

Make your dust collecting backup phone useful again with free 5G service from this T-Mobile MVNO
As a card-carrying member of the "grass is always greener on the other side" club, I can always feel when I'm about to change my daily driver from a Pixel to an iPhone and vice versa. My daily driver has been an iPhone 15 Pro Max and I had my Pixel 6 Pro connected to Wi-Fi as a limited backup so I could get screenshots and check out new features on Android. My Pixel was supposed to lose Android support after the release of Android 15 but Google added two more Android updates allowing me to keep using the phone up to the release of Android 17. I still didn't feel the call of Android until I installed Android 16 QPR 1 Beta 1 on my Pixel 6 Pro . The software turned the Pixel 6 Pro into a different phone that is more responsive. It also completely fixed any issues with the in-display fingerprint scanner, increased the battery life, and overall it made the phone not only usable but desirable. But I'm not yet ready to completely drop the iPhone for my Pixel, nor did I feel like spending for a new line in order to make calls, send and receive texts, and even take the device with me out of Wi-Fi range. Running through the apps on my Pixel, I found the solution when I stumbled across the icon for Helium Mobile. I remember doing a story on the T-Mobile MVNO in February which noted that Helium offered the first free 5G wireless plan in the U.S. So I decided to sign up for Helium's Zero Plan which offers 3GB of 5G data, 100 minutes of calls, 5GB of hotspot data, and 300 texts each month for the low, low price of zero. Helium Mobile's Zero plan compared to low-priced service from the competition. | Image credit-Helium Mobile Signing up for the service on the Pixel 6 Pro took about five minutes and I was given a new phone number. Since I still will probably use my Pixel inside, I can hold off on using too much data until I have a Wi-Fi connection. The cool thing is that I now can take my Pixel out with me at times when I'd rather have it accompany me and it isn't costing me a dime. Helium uses T-Mobile's nationwide 5G service (more on that later). Helium's Cloud Point program rewards you for personal data that the other wireless firms take from you without giving you anything in return. For example, if you agree to participate in anonymized location sharing, referrals, and surveys, you can earn points. These points can be redeemed for gift cards to certain stores, streaming services, rideshares, food, and more. So far, I haven't had an issue at all with the 5G service which recently ran at a download data speed of 109 Mbps and an upload data speed of 4.06 Mbps. That indicates that Helium uses T-Mobile 's low-band 600MHz nationwide 5G service as opposed to its 5G Ultra Capacity service that uses 2.5GHz mid-band to deliver a typical download data speed of 200 Mbps to 500Mbps. Still, the service was fast enough to use on the go and calls sounded great. Helium has other plans too. All three plans include: Zero Plan ($0/month): 3GB of data, 300 texts, 100 minutes Air Plan ($15/month): 10GB of data with unlimited talk and text Infinity Plan ($30/month): Unlimited data, talk and text Switch to Total 5G+ Unlimited 3-Month plan or Total 5G Unlimited and get a free iPhone. Google Photos now has a feature that will save you hours of scrolling
Google Photos is getting a useful update that helps make searching through your photo library much easier. The app can already recognize text in images using AI, but now you can search for exact words by placing them in quotation means that if you're looking for a photo of a document, a sign, or even a handwritten note with a specific word on it, you can type that word in quotes and Google Photos will try to find only the images where that word appears. For example, searching for "passport" will return only the photos that clearly show that exact word somewhere in the to a Google support post, the feature is rolling out gradually and may not be available to everyone right away. But once it arrives on your account, it should make hunting down specific photos much faster and more accurate. While it may sound like a small improvement, this is one of the features Google promised last month as part of Google Photos' 10th birthday. Alongside other memory and AI tools, this update reflects Google's goal to help users find and organize their memories more easily. We covered those announcements here at PhoneArena when they were first shared. A search for the word "Google" returns all images with the word Google on them. | Image credit — PhoneArena The change will likely be most helpful for people who use Google Photos to store screenshots, scanned documents, receipts, or any other image with text. Previously, the app could pick up on general keywords, but the search results often included unrelated photos. With quotation marks, the results are now more specific and it's not perfect. Google says the feature works best when it can confidently identify the text in an image. That means if the word is hard to read, written in a stylized font, or partly obscured, the search might miss it. It also won't recognize text in every language with equal accuracy just those limitations, this is a helpful step forward. As AI continues to improve in apps like Google Photos, users can expect more tools that make managing large libraries less frustrating. If the update hasn't appeared in your account yet, don't worry. Google says it's rolling out gradually, so it should show up soon. Once it does, try typing a specific word in quotes and see how well it works with your own photos.
