Deadpool & Wolverine's Shawn Levy Is Making a Madonna Netflix Show
Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy is working on a show about the life and music of for Netflix.
Prior to Deadpool & Wolverine, Levy has made movies such as 2003's Cheaper by the Dozen, 2006's Night at the Museum, 2010's Date Night, 2011's Real Steel, 2021's Free Guy, and more. He's currently working on a Star Wars movie, Star Wars: Starfighter, that will be released in 2027.
Per Deadline, Levy, along with his 21 Laps company, and Madonna are executive producing the new show.
The project is 'starting from scratch' and is not related to the Madonna biopic movie that was scrapped in January 2023. Ozark and Wolf Man's Julia Garner was previously tapped to play the iconic popstar in that film, while others such as Florence Pugh, Alexa Demie, Odessa Young, and Bebe Rexha attended singing and dancing bootcamp in hopes of booking the role.
'Garner has remained engaged — she famously appeared alongside Madonna on stage at the singer's Celebration Tour in December 2023 — and I hear the Ozark star would most likely play Madonna, subject of availability as she doesn't have a deal,' Deadline's article notes. '(Garner would also feel right at home at Netflix where she just signed on her for her third series, an FTX limited series, following her turns on Inventing Anna and Ozark.)'
It's not yet clear if the television series will cover Madonna's entire life or just a certain part of her career, as the project is still said to be in its 'early days of development.'
It is additionally uncertain whether or not Madonna will be involved in writing the project or any larger capacity than being an executive producer. She worked on the script for the feature film that was previously in development alongside Diablo Cody and Cressida Wilson.

I'm definitely not expecting anything groundbreaking, but it seems like the kind of over-the-top fun that totally works if you're into buddy comedy chaos, big action set pieces, and a plot that doesn't take itself too seriously. 'Heads of State' follows U.S. President Will Derringer (John Cena), a former action movie star, and U.K. Prime Minister Sam Clarke (Idris Elba), who have a public rivalry that jeopardizes their countries' alliance. When they become targets of a powerful foreign adversary, they're forced to put aside their differences and work together to thwart a global conspiracy. Disney+ viewers in UK risk £1k TV Licence fine if caught tuning into new content
Millions of Disney+ viewers are being warned they risk fines of up to £1,000 if they watch new content being added later this year. Usually, if you are watching streaming services like Netflix, Disney+ or Amazon Prime you do not require a TV licence. However, household in the UK is legally required to have a TV licence if they watch or record live TV, regardless of what channel it is on. Disney+ announced last month it had won the broadcasting rights to the UEFA Women's Champions League until 2030. This new deal will allow fans to watch every match live "at no extra cost". The BBC confirmed to Cord Busters last year that viewers will need to purchase a TV Licence if they are to watch live events on streaming platforms. If viewers are caught watching live content without a TV licence, they could be fined up to £1,000. The majority of Disney+ content remains exempt from the TV Licence fee, as long as it is not being broadcast live. These are the occasions when you do not need a TV Licence. You do not need a TV Licence to watch: Streaming services like Netflix and Disney+ On-demand TV through services like All 4 and Amazon Prime Video Videos on websites like YouTube Videos or DVDs You do need a TV Licence if you: Watch or record live TV on any channel or service Use BBC iPlayer For those aged 75 or over who are in receipt of Pension Credit, the TV Licence can be obtained for free rather than costing £174.50. Guidance provided by TV Licensing says: 'Free TV Licences are only available if you're 75 or over and you, or your partner living at the same address, are receiving Pension Credit. 'If you think you're eligible for a free licence but can't apply online, please call 0300 790 6117* and speak to one of our advisors to request an application form (our lines are open between 8.30am and 6.30pm, from Monday to Friday). 'Once we've received your application it may take a few weeks to process. If there are any problems we'll write to let you know. We may also call you if you have given us your phone number. 'There are separate arrangements in place for over 75s on the Isle of Man, the Bailiwick of Jersey and the Bailiwick of Guernsey.' Even if you do not meet the eligibility criteria for a free TV Licence you may be able to get some money back on yours, so long as it is no longer needed. Get ready for the internet to break. Netflix closed out its Tudum 2025 live event on Saturday by releasing the first six minutes of Season 2, Episode 1 from its biggest show ever, Wednesday. We then see the series of unfortunate events that led her there. The Wednesday presentation at Tudum included two performances by Lady Gaga, including her version of the Wednesday Dance. Gaga is joining the ensemble for the new season. The show's main cast is rounded out by Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams), Luis Guzmán (Gomez Addams), Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley Addams), Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo (Ritchie Santiago), Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair), Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay), Victor Dorobantu (Thing), Hunter Doohan (Tyler Galpin), and Fred Armisen (Uncle Fester). As reported in April, Episodes 1 through 4 will premiere on Aug. 6, while Episodes 5 through 8 will debut on Sept. 3 — both notably Wednesdays. That means Season 2 of the horror-comedy won't be eligible until the 2026 Emmys. The first season of Wednesday remains Netflix's most popular series ever, with a whopping 252 million views. (For comparison's sake, the No. 2 and No. 3 shows — Stranger Things 4 and Adolescence — both have 140 million views.)
