Porsche Teases New 963 RSP Hypercar

Hypebeast01-06-2025
Summary
Porschehas officially unveiled the name of its mysterious and potentially roadgoing endurance project: the 963 RSP.
Teased in a new ASMR-style video, the one-off hypercar is based on the 963 endurance racer that's already clinched back-to-back victories at the 24 Hours of Daytona. The short film shows Porsche artisans sewing custom upholstery, sanding carbon-fiber panels and applying paint by hand, culminating in the installation of a real Porsche crest on the hood, a notable departure from the sticker badge used on the race car for weight savings.
While Porsche hasn't revealed specs, the RSP is expected to mirror the race-bred twin-turbo V8 hybrid setup of its track-only sibling. According to earlyreports, the RSP name may also nod to Roger S. Penske, whose team oversees Porsche's dominant endurance program. With only one 963 RSP slated for production, its debut is likely timed for just before the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 14.
In the meantime, check out the teaser for yourself below.

RUF's 610-HP Rodeo Makes Its Production Debut at Monterey

RUF Automobile has long stood apart in the Porsche ecosystem, transforming 911s into machines worthy of wearing their own badge. From the insanely awesome Yellowbird of the late 1980s to the modern CTR Anniversary, the German manufacturer has specialized in hand-built sports cars that blur the line between Porsche derivative and standalone creation. In 2020, the company surprised us with a concept that went against its usual low-slung, high-speed formula – the RUF Rodeo, an off-road take on the 911 silhouette. What began as a showpiece has now become a full-fledged production model, with the very first customer car handed over at Monterey Car Week's The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering. The first production Rodeo carries the same carbon-fiber monocoque underpinnings as RUF's other modern cars but is built for conditions far beyond smooth tarmac. Finished in Jordan Black, it pairs its deep paintwork with white centerlock forged wheels, roof rails, model designations, and quad-stacked exhaust tips. Think Porsche 911 Dakar – but cooler and gnarlier. The stance is more aggressive than the road-going SCR thanks to integrated bash bars, wide fender flares, and a wider track – 1.6 inches up front and 5.6 inches at the rear. Lighting comes from RUF's Bi-LED headlights and LED taillights, adding modern precision to its rugged form. The chassis is raised by 9.5 inches compared to the SCR and employs a double-wishbone pushrod suspension designed in-house, with adjustable all-wheel drive and ceramic brakes at each corner. Power is provided by a 3.6-liter turbocharged flat-six developing 610 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque, paired with a six-speed manual. With this configuration, the Rodeo delivers off-road readiness without losing the analog experience central to the RUF identity. To mark the milestone delivery, Aloisa Ruf has designed a limited collection of hand-painted Rodeo jeans, each pair individually numbered. The Rodeo was not the only car RUF brought to Monterey. The CTR3 EVO, finished in Howe White, also found its first owner at The Quail. Serving as the fastest car in the lineup, it uses a 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six producing 800 hp and 730 pound-feet of torque, routed to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. A top speed of 236 mph places it in modern supercar territory, with a carbon-fiber body and aerodynamic aids such as a large wing, diffuser, and front splitter ensuring stability at speed. Alongside it was the production-ready Tribute, a model-year 2026 release powered by a newly developed air-cooled 3.6-liter twin-turbo flat-six producing 550 hp. Designed as a nod to the 911's history, it represents the only production air-cooled car offered by an OEM today. Together with the Rodeo and CTR3 EVO, it showcases the breadth of RUF's capabilities – from adventure-focused off-roader to cutting-edge track car to a nostalgic callback. We Visited Gunther Werks and Drove a $1.7-Million Porsche Restomod: Video

Custom aftermarket Porsches are hardly a rarity these days. With companies like Singer, Canepa, Bisimoto, Tuthill, Rauh-Welt Begriff, and many others offering their own unique interpretations of the iconic 911, the market is full of standouts. But if you're familiar with the world of modified Porsches, there's one name that can't be overlooked: Gunther Werks . Since arriving on the scene in 2017, Gunther Werks has quickly established itself as a top-tier Porsche tuner. Early builds like the 400R and Project Tornado gained major attention in the collector car world for their distinctive design, powerful performance, and meticulous craftsmanship. Eight years on, Gunther Werks remains one of the most respected names in the American Porsche aftermarket scene. With new projects launching regularly and a continually growing list of customization options, buyers have no shortage of vehicles to choose from. But unless you're ready to drop seven figures on a rare Gunther Werks build, it's hard to grasp what the ownership experience is really like. So, we decided to find out for ourselves. West Coast Editor Chris Rosales recently visited Gunther Werks' headquarters in Huntington Beach, California. The team graciously offered a full tour of their expansive 24,000-square-foot facility—everything from the customer lounge to the assembly line itself. Words barely do it justice. But if you have the means to commission a custom Porsche from Gunther Werks—do it. 'Breakthrough EVs': Ford Stock (NYSE:F) Notches Up on New Battery Details

An electric vehicle (EV) is only as good as its battery, at the end of the day. Legacy automaker Ford (F) is likely aware of this, and has a novel new prospect coming as a result. The new line of EVs Ford has on tap will have an unexpected feature: a much smaller battery. But this is less a problem than you may think. In fact, Ford stock is up fractionally in Friday afternoon's trading. Elevate Your Investing Strategy: Take advantage of TipRanks Premium at 50% off! Unlock powerful investing tools, advanced data, and expert analyst insights to help you invest with confidence. So how does a smaller battery win Ford's new EV line any friends? As it turns out, the smaller battery will produce a car with a similar range as those cars with bigger batteries. The battery in question will offer 51 kilowatt-hours of power, which is only about half the size of the batteries currently found in the F-150 Lightning. But if Ford can make an EV that gets the necessary 250-300 mile per charge range that most electric vehicles consider 'table stakes' these days, Ford might be able to make lighter-weight vehicles that are also less expensive, a combination that is only too important in a time when everyone is still feeling the inflationary pinch that started a few years ago and has yet to relent. 'Liquid Carbon' Mustang Of course, Ford is not all about electric vehicles; EVs represent a small portion of Ford's total sales, as gas engines still rule the day. And new reports about the Ford Mustang GTD 'Liquid Carbon' are already delivering some impressive visuals of the kind that might make Porsche (POAHY) quake in fear. Indeed, the GTD Liquid Carbon does look a lot like a 911 GT3 RS. Moreover, it is also a car that has bypassed the paint process and instead stuck with bonded carbon fiber all around. It is not all about looks, though, as reports note the GTD Liquid Carbon features a 'Performance' pack as a standard edition, complete with a DRS flap on the rear win, dive planes, and a 'bigger splitter,' all of which adds up to Ford living up to its promise of ' no boring cars.' Is Ford Stock a Good Buy Right Now? Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Hold consensus rating on F stock based on two Buys, nine Holds and three Sells assigned in the past three months, as indicated by the graphic below. After a 8.85% rally in its share price over the past year, the average F price target of $10.74 per share implies 6.24% downside risk.
