Min Gore accepts errors in planning amid water scarcity
Kolhapur: Solapur's guardian minister
Jaykumar Gore
announced that a meeting of the canal advisory committee will be held under the state water resources minister, Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, on May 21 to address the water scarcity concerns in the district.
In the meeting of the district planning and development council, several MLAs raised the water scarcity issue across the district and demanded immediate action. The authorities informed the ministers that only 1 TMC of water was left in the reservoirs, which needs to be used carefully until the monsoon.
"I can see that there was some error in the planning of water utilisation. We will hold talks with the minister of the water resources department on May 21.
We will also discuss utilising the tourism potential of Ujani Dam," said Gore in the meeting.
The MLAs demanded that the Mangalweda tehsil should get water from the Mhaisal irrigation scheme and Sangola tehsil should get water from the Man River. Sangola MLA Babasaheb Deshmukh said for the last month, water from the Man River was not released for his constituency.
A separate meeting was held to review the water situation in the district.
Gore asked the authorities to make water tankers available within 48 hours. At present, 64 water tankers are deployed in the district, whereas in the same period last year, 179 water tankers were operational.
Recently, Solapur collector Kumar Ashirwad directed the authorities to mark and acquire the wells and borewells to draw out water for the water-scarce villages.
Gore leads Tiranga Yatra
Gore led the Tiranga Yatra in Solapur, organised by BJP. He said, "We are organising Tiranga Yatra across the country to support our defence forces and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Under his leadership, the army and air force showed the world that India never tolerates terrorism. Also, those criticising the initiative should rethink and stand in solidarity with our soldiers."

AAP opposes proposed fee regulation bill, calls it 'anti-parent'
New Delhi [India], June 11 (ANI): In a scathing attack on the BJP-led Delhi Government, senior Aam Admi Party (AAP) leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Delhi Assembly, Atishi, condemned the concealment and unilateral introduction of the proposed fee regulation bill, the party said in an official statement. She pointed out that the BJP government deliberately bypasses democratic processes by planning to introduce the Bill through an ordinance, without any public consultation, stakeholder engagement, or legislative scrutiny, as per the release. 'This Fee Regulation Bill has been kept hidden by the BJP. No parent, lawyer, MLA, or Delhi resident has seen this bill. Why is it being concealed? If this bill is in the interest of parents, then why hasn't it been shown to them? Why hasn't it been uploaded to the website? Why hasn't public feedback been invited?' questioned Atishi. The AAP Legislative Group has formally demanded that the BJP government convene a Special Session of the Delhi Assembly to introduce the Fee Regulation Bill. Atishi stressed that the Bill must be referred to a Select Committee consisting of members from both AAP and BJP, and that comprehensive public consultations must be held before it is passed, it added. 'There was talk of a Fee Regulation law, but no one has seen the draft till date. Parents spoke in one voice: the fee law must not be brought in through an ordinance. The draft bill should be made public, their opinions must be heard, and only then should the bill be passed,' she said. Calling out the BJP's opaque tactics, Atishi remarked, 'This may be the first time in Delhi's history that such a significant law or policy is being brought without any public feedback. Hiding the draft of a law like this only shows one thing: something is seriously sketchy with it. This bill isn't meant to reduce school fees or to regulate private schools. It's being brought in to protect private schools.' As per their release, with Education Minister Ashish Sood confirming that the Bill will not be tabled in the Assembly, Atishi said, 'The BJP Government is going to any lengths to shield Delhi's private schools--now sneaking in the Fee Regulation Bill through an ordinance, bypassing the Assembly. This move is anti-parent and pro-private school.' Earlier in May, the Delhi Cabinet approved the Delhi School Education Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fees Bill, 2025, bringing relief to thousands of students and parents across the capital. Addressing growing concerns over frequent and unregulated fee increases by private schools, the Delhi Cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta cleared the bill, which is expected to apply to 1,677 private schools in the city. CM Gupta stated that the government has swiftly acted in response to the widespread panic among students and parents regarding the hikes in school fees. (ANI)

J&K's ‘dual control' leading to disconnect with people, says Congress leader Tariq Hameed Karra
The Congress on Tuesday (June 10, 2025) said the dual control of Jammu and Kashmir has 'immensely contributed to chaos leading to the disconnect and non-representation of people both at political as well as administrative level'. 'Disconnect and non-representation of people are apparently visible on the ground. The Centre is running away from the promises it made on the floor of Parliament to people of J&K. The Congress won't remain silent, we will continue to fight vigorously for the Statehood and safeguarding rights of our people, who have suffered enormously on all fronts due to the policies of BJP,' J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president Tariq Hameed Karra said. The JKPCC has launched meetings of block presidents of three Lok Sabha segments of Kashmir region. 'The party will also be holding district level conventions under the slogan Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq shortly to reiterate Congress party's strong urge for restoration of complete statehood to J&K,' a Congress spokesman said. The first phase of district-level conventions mission Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq was completed in the Jammu region. Mr. Karra asked the district presidents and party workers 'to gear up for the upcoming district level political conventions, which will send a strong signal to the BJP government at the Centre that its diversionary tactics from the real issues concerning J&K will not be accepted'. 'The deliberate delay in restoration of Statehood will no longer work, Centre has to take urgent measures to restore statehood to J&K which has been snatched by a stroke of pen,' Mr. Karra said. He also asked BJP's J&K unit 'to clear its stand whether they are in favour of restoration of Statehood or not?'

Congress committed to social justice, affirms Mahesh Goud
Hyderabad: While emphasising the Congress party's commitment to social justice, PCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud stated that 70 per cent of posts in the new TPCC executive committee have been allocated for Backward Classes (BCs), Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), minorities, and women. Addressing the 'Jai Samvidhan' rally in Shadnagar, he reiterated that the Congress has allocated cabinet berths reflecting the same social justice for weaker sections. He pointed out how one from a Backward Class, two from Scheduled Castes, were inducted into cabinet, besides providing the Deputy Speaker's post to a Scheduled Tribe representative. He stated that the Congress Party was firmly committed to protecting the Constitution, ensuring social justice, and safeguarding national integrity. He underscored that to counter the BJP's divisive politics and destructive agenda, the Congress was intensifying its 'Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan' campaign from grassroots to national level. The PCC president alleged that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had insulted Dr B R Ambedkar — the architect of the Constitution — right inside Parliament. He accused the BJP of making deliberate efforts to dismantle the Constitution and implement Manusmriti in its place. He alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah were acting in ways that undermined the very fabric of national unity. A massive rally was taken out from the office of MLA Veerlapalli Shankar to Eden Gardens in the town, and the rally witnessed an overwhelming public turnout. Mahesh Kumar Goud strongly criticised Prime Minister Modi's claims on war with Pakistan, stating that he backed down as soon as President Donald Trump intervened. He compared Modi's retreat to the bold leadership of Indira Gandhi, under whom 92,000 Pakistani soldiers surrendered during the 1971 war. 'Modi is obsessed with the Prime Minister's chair, but has no real love for the country,' the PCC chief stated. 'The Congress demands answers—what did the country actually achieve or lose in Modi's so-called war with Pakistan?' he asked.
