Will ensure tickets to all castes, says BPCC chief
Ram, a prominent Dalit face of Congress in the state, said that the party would ensure tickets to all castes, communities, and organisations in proportion to their population.
In an exclusive interview with this newspaper, Ram exuded confidence that grand alliance, which is a part of Opposition INDIA bloc, would perform better in the state polls, paving the way for formation of next government by secular forces.
He, however, admitted that caste factors continue to play a major role in states like Bihar and UP. Even BJP by deviation from its plank of 'Hindutva' has started talking about caste equations in elections. Party leaders, including PM Narendra Modi, do not hesitate in revealing their castes at public places, he added.

HYDERABAD: Stating that the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme was executed to quench the thirst of Telangana, BRS leader and former agriculture minister S Niranjan Reddy on Monday wondered if it is fair to make 'political accusations' without releasing the full PC Ghose Commission report on the project. 'It is laughable that the Congress is now talking about changing the project site of Kaleshwaram. It was the Congress that maliciously and deliberately changed the site of the Nagarjunasagar project in the past, permanently betraying Telangana,' he said. 'Due to the sins of Congress, Telangana is deprived of its rightful share of water,' he alleged. Niranjan said that the Kaleshwaram project was built after obtaining all the required approvals. 'No matter how many conspiracies they hatch against KCR, the truth will come out. Why hasn't the full PC Ghose Commission report been made public?' he asked. The former minister also stated that the Commission's report was not final and it could be challenged in court as per the Commissions of Inquiry Act. The Commission of Inquiry was constituted only to target KCR, he alleged. He alleged that the ruling Congress was trying to fulfil the wishes of the anti-Telangana forces and trying to portray KCR as someone who made an unprecedented blunder, which was not true.

Telangana sees drop in off-Budget borrowings, LS informed
HYDERABAD: Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary on Monday informed Lok Sabha that the off-Budget borrowings of the Telangana government reduced considerably since the time Congress was voted to power in the state. During the Question Hour, the minister said that the off-budget borrowings declared by the state were Rs 35,258 crore in 2021-22, Rs 9,597 crore in 2022-23, Rs 2,546 crore in 2023-24 and Rs 2,697 crore in 2024-25. Meanwhile, responding to a query raised by Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, Pankaj Chaudhary said that the REC Limited has already granted a time extension for the completion of works until December, 2024 at the request of Kaleshwaram Irrigation Project Corporation (KIPCL). The rebate on interest rate may be considered upon the completion/closure of the project, the REC informed the state government. However, any change in loan amortisation schedule would result in the downgrade of KIPCL's account classification (from standard to Sub-standard) in the books of PFC/REC Ltd in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Reserve Bank of India, the Union Minister said.

With Telangana Congress cadre on board, special train chugs off for Delhi
HYDERABAD: The BC leaders of ruling Congress and hundreds of party workers on Monday left for Delhi in a special train to participate in a three-day agitation to push for the implementation of 42% reservations for BCs in education, employment and political representation. The train was flagged off by TPCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud from the Charlapalli Railway Station. The Congress delegation is accompanied by AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan. Mahesh Kumar Goud travelled up to Alair and will be reaching the national capital on Tuesday, the first day of the three-day agitation. Speaking to the media at the Congress office in Alair, the TPCC chief said that the main aim of the agitation is to mount pressure on the Union government to approve the Bill passed by the Telangana Legislative Assembly, granting 42% reservations to BCs. During the three-day protest programme, the Congress MPs plan to raise the issue of BC reservations in Parliament through an adjournment motion on Tuesday. The following day, a protest rally will be held at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, with participation of hundreds of Congress workers from Telangana. On August 7, the party delegation will meet President Droupadi Murmu and submit a memorandum seeking early assent to the BC reservation Bill passed by the State Assembly.
