Gossip Girl legend Leighton Meester has revealed why she opted not to have a wedding when she married fellow actor Adam Brody.
In a new tell-all with Bustle, the actress, 39, shared her journey from her iconic role as Blair Waldorf to her current life juggling motherhood and fame - prioritizing privacy and personal fulfillment.
During the interview, she reflected on why she and her husband, Adam, 45, chose not to have a wedding when the two married in 2014.
'On sets and in life, I've been able to wear a fancy dress and hit a mark and say lines, and I didn't want it to feel like that,' Leighton detailed to the outlet.
'I wanted it to feel intimate and private.'
However, the actress made sure to clarify: 'I'm an actor. So I do appreciate attention.'
The couple met in 2011 while filming the movie The Oranges but did not begin their romantic relationship until two years later.
The pair got engaged in November 2013 and got married just a few months later in a 'small and intimate with close family and friends' in Northern California.
Elsewhere in the interview, Leighton opened up about how her life has changed since welcoming kids.
'People are always asking, "What do you want to do? Where do you see yourself? Where do you want to go?"' she told the outlet.
'And I'm like, I don't know. I don't know if it's motherhood or this current situation or this business.
'You kind of can't be like, "I know what I'm doing three years from now." I'm just, like, OK right now.
'I just feel like being in the moment and figuring it out as I go along, because that's all we can do, you know?'
Earlier this month, Leighton opened up about losing her good friend and Gossip Girl costar Michelle Trachtenberg.
She described Trachtenberg's death in February as 'devastating.'
She weighed in on the Harriet The Spy star's passing after the announcement of her cause of death last month, despite an early request from her family to keep the details secret.

In a profile for Flaunt, Leighton described Michelle — who died at 39, the same age as her — as 'a wonderful, talented person.'
'It's devastating,' she said of the loss, adding that 'everyone loved her.'
'It's very, very sad for everyone who knew her,' Leighton said.
Leighton starred on Gossip Girl as one of the leads alongside Blake Lively from 2007 to 2012.
Her character, Blair Waldorf, is introduced as a student at an elite private high school in Manhattan's Upper East Side.
Her status as a socialite makes her a regular fixture in the writings of the anonymous gossip blogger known as Gossip Girl.
Leighton's portrayal as the frenemy to Blake's character Serena van der Woodsen made her a hit with critics and fans alike.
