Gangland mourners threatened over attending funerals of two gangsters
A chilling message threatened anyone attending the funeral of two gangsters in a shocking online post.
The mystery threat surfaced online comes after the bodies of Ross Monaghan, 43, and Eddie Lyons Jr, 46, were released to their families by the Spanish authorities. The pair were gunned down in a Mafia-style execution at the Monaghans bar in Costa del Sol on May 31.
Lyons Jr was reportedly shot in the chest at close range and died at the scene. Monaghan was said to have ran into the bar as staff and customers ducked underneath tables and chairs. He was reportedly shot at least four times in the chest and abdomen and also died at the bar.
Now, mourners who are planning to attend their funerals have been warned by a mystery source. The online post, states: 'Anyone who attends the funeral of Edward and Ross this week will be treated the exact same way as them. This is now time to fight fire with fire. Family and friends take note. One man and his ego caused all this."
The threat blames Dubai based crime boss Ross McGill for the relentless gangland feud which has engulfed central Scotland since March. It's yet to be confirmed exactly where and when the funeral of the gunned down pair will be held, reports Daily Record.
Last night a source said: "Things are really beginning to heat up again now, especially in Glasgow. A house connected to the Lyons was recently smashed into with a motor. It went straight into the front room with people inside.
"The main figures in the Lyons crew will want to show strength at the funerals but at the same time this will put a target on their backs. Their boss Steven lives in Dubai and didn't turn up for the last major funeral so it remains to be seen if he will this time."
Confirming the release of the two bodies a Spanish judicial official said: 'Fuengirola's Court of Instruction Number. Two which is coordinating the judicial investigation into the murders has authorised the release of the bodies to their families for them to do what they believe to be appropriate.'
Double murder suspect Michael Riley, 44, is in prison in the UK awaiting likely forced extradition after being arrested in Liverpool last month. Spanish police chiefs described the man who shot the mobsters late last month as a member of the rival Daniel crime clan, despite Police Scotland saying they had 'no intelligence' to suggest the killings were linked to the ongoing gangland turf war here.
Malaga-based Spanish National Police chief superintendent Pedro Agudo Novo revealed at a packed press conference the dramatic Liverpool arrest was made after detectives discovered the alleged hitman was about to flee his UK bolthole for a "paradise island tax haven."
He said: 'The double murder was carried out by a professional killer and member of one of the victims' rival gangs' before going on to detail how he fled Spain via Portugal and then took a plane to Leeds."
Last week Scotland's top cop, Chief Constable Jo Farrell, doubled down on the force's initial insistence it wasn't aware of any evidence Monaghan and Eddie Lyons Jnr's murders were linked to the ongoing gang feud here, or had been planned from Scotland. Monaghans Fuengirola, the pub 43-year-old dad-of-two Ross owned and was shot dead moments after his gang pal was killed with a bullet to the neck on the terrace outside, has now reopened under the new name Irish Rover.

Twisted David Cardona was yesterday described as 'a predator of the most dangerous and devious sort'. A Paisley beast has been jailed for five years after being found guilty of 'orchestrated and persistent' child sex abuse spanning over two decades. Twisted David Cardona was last month found guilty by a jury, following a trial at Paisley Sheriff Court, of the abuse of three youngsters. The jury found the 65-year-old unanimously guilty of using 'lewd, indecent and libidinous practices and behaviour' towards a boy aged under 13 between October 21, 1994 and October 23, 1994. Creepy Cardona got into the boy's bed while he was sleeping, laid next to him, attempted to pull his trousers down and, thereafter, performed a sex act on him. Cardona, of Westburn Avenue in the town, was also found guilty of sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 16 on 'various occasions' between July 11, 2013 and August 20, 2018 by touching her private parts through her clothing. The court heard evidence Cardona would carry out these sexual assaults when the girl was sleeping or falling asleep. A witness told the jury: 'It was at night, he would lift her but place his hands at her pants.' The witness told the court how this had impacted the girl and added: 'When she told me, she was in pieces, she was crying; crying as if she was having a panic attack. 'After it happened, she distanced herself from him. 'It changed her, she stayed in her room after it happened, her hair would fall out, she started cutting her wrists.' Cardona was also found guilty of sexually assaulting another girl while she was under the age of 13. Between August 2019 and August 2021, the paedophile on 'various occasions' assaulted this youngster by placing his hand inside her trousers and sexually assaulting her. Yesterday, Sheriff Gillian Craig slammed Cardona stating: 'You are a predator of the most dangerous and devious sort. 'These offences are in a league of very serious crime. 'Your victims have already lived with the trauma and may live with the trauma for the rest of their lives. 'I've read the victim impact statements and what is clear is the impact is devastating, you robbed these children of their childhood.' Defence agent, Paul Keenan KC told the court there was 'little he could say in mitigation'. He added: 'Mr Cardona maintains he is innocent, he understands the jury's verdict and rejects that position. 'He is under no illusion of the severity and fully accepts the offences he's convicted of are exceptionally serious and there will ne no choice but to impose a custodial sentence.' Sentencing, Sheriff Craig added: 'I commend all of the victims for their bravery in coming to police. 'The ripples of what you've done will be felt through their families and loved ones. 'A custodial sentence is the only appropriate disposal.' Cardona was jailed for five years and, upon his release, he will be subject to licence for three years with conditions fixed by Scottish ministers. In addition, he was made subject to a non-harassment order for each of the three victims for 20 years and made subject to a sexual harm prevention order also for twenty years.

Mum on run from religious drug cult in US wins battle to keep kids in Scotland
A mother who fled to Scotland from America to escape a religious drugs cult has won a court custody battle over her two children. A mum has won a legal battle in Scotland's highest court to protect her two young children from a religious drug cult. The unnamed woman fled to Scotland from the USA with them 20 months ago to escape the Santo Daime movement of which she was once a member. Her former husband launched a legal action at the Court of Session in Edinburgh last month (July) accusing his wife of abducting their children. However one of Scotland's most senior judges Lady Tait this week ruled that the youngsters - aged nine and seven - should remain in Scotland. The father, who was also unnamed, sought the return of his children on the basis that they had been unlawfully removed from the USA. The court was told that the couple married in 2016 and divorced seven years later. They met through a religious movement named Santo Daime, described in court as a religious drug cult involving the use of the psychoactive drug Ayahuasca. The mother claimed she was told to give her baby the substance before she started breast feeding. She left the cult in August 2020 and underwent therapy to recover. The children were then brought to Scotland. Witnesses including teachers, family friends, and others said the children were settled here and did not want to go back to the USA. In October 2024, the dad applied to the Supreme Court for the State of New York for an order granting him custody of the children. The court granted the order in January 2025 as well as a warrant for the mum's arrest. However in a 29 page judgment published this week Lady Tait found in the mother's favour. She added:"On the evidence before the court, I am satisfied that if the respondent (the mother) returned with the children to the US, there is a grave risk that she would be arrested and imprisoned and the children would be removed from her care and placed into the care of the petitioner (the father). "To be removed from the respondent's care, even for a short period, and in the context of having been removed from their settled lives in Scotland, would put the children into a situation which they should not be expected to tolerate. "The available evidence is that the children have established good and settled lives in Scotland. "A swift return is now impossible. Their mother, described in courts as an artist, was also born in the US but has UK citizenship through her parents. Throughout her childhood, she frequently visited family members in Scotland. The couple met in 2015 through the Santo Daime movement which the mum described as a religious drug cult. She said members are required to consume Ayahuasca which contains the hallucinogenic drug Dimethyltryptamine (DMT) and are also subjected to control from more senior members. She claimed Santo Daime leaders said her baby should taste the 'medicine' before her breast milk to which she complied. The mother said she gave a lot of money to Santo Daime and would do whatever she was told. She also claimed her husband was abusive and controlling and wouldn't allow her to turn on the heating in winter although they had young children. She further claimed he had psychotic episodes and believed he was Jesus Christ. For a time he became fixated on their oldest child not being his. As a result she became fearful that she could not protect the children from their father and the Santo Daime movement if they remained in the USA. However the husband, a delicatessan manager, said he was no longer involved in Santo Daime and accepted that the children should not participate though his mother and brothers are still members. He denied believing he was Jesus Christ or threatening or controlling behaviour. Santo Daime was founded in the 1930s in Brazil. Ceremonies are typically several hours long where Ayahuasca is then drunk. The substance which is made from vines and plants is illegal in the UK because it contains DMT a Class A drug.

His death was classified as a homicide and, according to courtroom documents, he died from asphyxiation and blunt force trauma. He had numerous bruises and scars across his body, along with facial injuries. Troy's body was covered with fresh and old bruises.
