Riley, of Huyton, Liverpool, was arrested by Merseyside police on June 13 under an international arrest warrant issued by the Spanish authorities. His extradition hearing was due to take place on October 9 at Westminster Magistrates Court, but it will now be heard on November 20. Riley was not on a video link from Wandsworth Prison for the hearing. Judge Timothy King said: "I am prepared to vacate the hearing. "I make directions for the extradition hearing to be heard on 20 November. 'The next call over date will be on 15 August. Hopefully Mr Riley will have been produced via video link.' Monaghan, 43, and Lyons Jnr, 46, were key Lyons crime gang members. Malaga-based Spanish police chief Pedro Agudo Novo has described Riley as a member of the rival Glasgow-based Daniels gang. Bizarrely, Police Scotland have denied a link between the 30-year feud and the murders. 'Godfather' Eddie Lyons Snr bids farewell to gunned down son & kingpin pal at double gang funeral The victims - who were laid to rest in a joint funeral earlier this month - were watching the Champions League final with friends when they were gunned down at the bar on the beachfront. Lyons Jnr died after he was hit by a single bullet outside the bar in front of horrified drinkers. CCTV showed the gunman pursuing Monaghan inside the pub before shooting him dead. Riley remains in custody.

Gangland mourners threatened over attending funerals of two gangsters
Scottish gangsters Ross Monaghan, 43, and Eddie Lyons Jr, 46, was brutally killed at the Monaghans bar in Costa del Sol. Expected funeral-goers have been issued with threats A chilling message threatened anyone attending the funeral of two gangsters in a shocking online post. The mystery threat surfaced online comes after the bodies of Ross Monaghan, 43, and Eddie Lyons Jr, 46, were released to their families by the Spanish authorities. The pair were gunned down in a Mafia-style execution at the Monaghans bar in Costa del Sol on May 31. Lyons Jr was reportedly shot in the chest at close range and died at the scene. Monaghan was said to have ran into the bar as staff and customers ducked underneath tables and chairs. He was reportedly shot at least four times in the chest and abdomen and also died at the bar. Now, mourners who are planning to attend their funerals have been warned by a mystery source. The online post, states: 'Anyone who attends the funeral of Edward and Ross this week will be treated the exact same way as them. This is now time to fight fire with fire. Family and friends take note. One man and his ego caused all this." The threat blames Dubai based crime boss Ross McGill for the relentless gangland feud which has engulfed central Scotland since March. It's yet to be confirmed exactly where and when the funeral of the gunned down pair will be held, reports Daily Record. Last night a source said: "Things are really beginning to heat up again now, especially in Glasgow. A house connected to the Lyons was recently smashed into with a motor. It went straight into the front room with people inside. "The main figures in the Lyons crew will want to show strength at the funerals but at the same time this will put a target on their backs. Their boss Steven lives in Dubai and didn't turn up for the last major funeral so it remains to be seen if he will this time." Confirming the release of the two bodies a Spanish judicial official said: 'Fuengirola's Court of Instruction Number. Two which is coordinating the judicial investigation into the murders has authorised the release of the bodies to their families for them to do what they believe to be appropriate.' Double murder suspect Michael Riley, 44, is in prison in the UK awaiting likely forced extradition after being arrested in Liverpool last month. Spanish police chiefs described the man who shot the mobsters late last month as a member of the rival Daniel crime clan, despite Police Scotland saying they had 'no intelligence' to suggest the killings were linked to the ongoing gangland turf war here. Malaga-based Spanish National Police chief superintendent Pedro Agudo Novo revealed at a packed press conference the dramatic Liverpool arrest was made after detectives discovered the alleged hitman was about to flee his UK bolthole for a "paradise island tax haven." He said: 'The double murder was carried out by a professional killer and member of one of the victims' rival gangs' before going on to detail how he fled Spain via Portugal and then took a plane to Leeds." Last week Scotland's top cop, Chief Constable Jo Farrell, doubled down on the force's initial insistence it wasn't aware of any evidence Monaghan and Eddie Lyons Jnr's murders were linked to the ongoing gang feud here, or had been planned from Scotland. Monaghans Fuengirola, the pub 43-year-old dad-of-two Ross owned and was shot dead moments after his gang pal was killed with a bullet to the neck on the terrace outside, has now reopened under the new name Irish Rover.

Bodies of slain gangsters Ross Monaghan and Eddie Lyons Jnr released to families
They were shot dead in front of horrified tourists at Monaghans, in Fuengirola in the Costa Del Sol last month. Spanish authorities have authorised the release of the bodies of slain Scottish gangsters Ross Monaghan and Eddie Lyons Jnr to their loved ones. A court in the Costa del Sol resort of Fuengirola which earlier this month issued an international arrest warrant for the hitman suspected of shooting them dead is continuing to probe the May 31 assassinations. It was not immediately clear today if either of the two funerals has yet taken place. Asked today what the situation was with regards to the men's bodies, a Spanish judicial official said: 'Fuengirola's Court of Instruction Number Two which is coordinating the judicial investigation into the murders has authorised the release of the bodies to their families for them to do what they believe to be appropriate.' The official was not able to say when the decision was taken, opening up the possibility funerals have already taken place in Spain - or in Scotland which would be the more likely scenario. Double murder suspect Michael Riley, 44, is in prison in the UK awaiting extradition after being arrested in Liverpool on June 13, athough he has indicated he wants to fight a forced return to Spain to face charges there. He was held on an international arrest warrant issued by the court in Fuengirola which authorised the release of his alleged victims' bodies to their families. A local landlord known only as Clive is running the team working at the Fuengirola drinking hole. After Monaghan's brutal gunshot killing, it emerged the career criminal also ran an online supermarket selling expats a taste from home as a successful sideline to the Costa del Sol pub where he was murdered. He became a director of Costa Shop And Drop after fleeing to Spain following a botched hit attempt outside a Glasgow primary school. Monaghan, cornered inside his bar moments after 43-year-old Eddie Lyons Jnr was shot dead, started selling Walkers Crisps, Weetabix, Colman's Mustard, Pot Noodle snacks and even Irn-Bru with the catchy sales slogan: 'Craving Your Favourite British Food?' The company, which stocks products at a Malaga warehouse, also markets toiletries and beauty products. It offers next-day delivery on all orders placed within the Costa del Sol, describing itself online as a 'new and exciting' service and boasting: 'Our prices are often lower than the market leading competitors.' Monaghan, a senior member of the Lyons gang, was appointed sole director of the Spanish firm on February 8 2021. The mobster, who fled Scotland for Spain in 2017, was tried but acquitted over the murder of notorious Glasgow hood Kevin 'Gerbil' Carroll at an Asda car park in 2010. In August 2017 he and Eddie Lyons Jr were cleared of being involved in a brutal street attack on three men outside the Campsie bar in Bishopbriggs, East Dunbartonshire. The Fuengirola pub murders just after the Champions League final finished followed the fatal shooting just over two months ago of a 32-year-old British man in nearby Calahonda a 15-minute drive from the Irish bar towards Marbella. He was shot dead around 8pm on April 21 in a professional hit as he headed back to his car after finishing a football match with friends. The victim has not been named but was known to come from Liverpool.

Scots police chiefs claim double murder in Irish bar in Spain NOT linked to feud violence
Just 10 days ago, Spanish police said the murders were linked to the Scottish feud The scene at Monaghan's pub in Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol where Eddie Lyons Jnr and Ross Monaghan were gunned down The Chief Constable of Police Scotland has once again claimed that a double murder in an Irish bar on the Costa Del Sol was not linked to recent outbreak of feud violence. Eddie Lyons Jr and Ross Monaghan died after a gunman opened fire outside Monaghans Bar in Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol on May 31st. Both men were members of Scotland's infamous Lyons gang have ties to the Kinahan Cartel, and have been involved in a two-decade long feud with Glasgow's Daniel crime gang. Over the last few months, there has been a series of attacks across Scotland linked to the bitter gangland war. Spanish police investigating the double murder have claimed that the duo were killed by rivals from the Daniel Crime Gang. However, at a Scottish Police Authority (SPA) meeting in Edinburgh on Thursday, Jo Farrell also denied that the shooting was planned in Scotland, the Daily Record has reported. "At this time, there is no evidence to suggest these deaths are linked to the recent criminal attacks in Scotland being investigated as part of Operation Portaledge or that the fatal shooting was planned in Scotland,' she said. Just days following the slaying of Lyons and Monaghan, Police Scotland insisted that it was not related to the feud However, ten days ago, Malaga-based Spanish police chief Pedro Agudo Novo said that the suspected hitman arrested on suspicion of the double murder was linked to the Daniel's crime family. "The double murder was carried out by a professional killer and member of one of the victims' rival gangs,' he told a press conference. "In this case, we are not talking about an independent hired killer, but an internal member of the rival Daniels gang who ends up assassinating two members of an enemy gang." The feud, which reignited in March, has seen members and associates of the Daniel family in Edinburgh and Glasgow subjected to fire bombs, machete assaults and targeted violence by a group linked to the Lyons family. As part of Operation Portaledge, Scottish police are investigating any links between the murders in Spain and the ongoing feud. So far police have made 49 arrests as part of the probe. The scene at Monaghan's pub in Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol where Eddie Lyons Jnr and Ross Monaghan were gunned down News in 90 Seconds - June 27th "A dedicated team of officers from our Specialist Crime Division, with support from local divisions across the country, continue to carry out extensive enquiries to gather vital evidence and reassure the public with intelligence-led patrols,' Farrell said. "We are still working tirelessly to build cases and are following a number of significant lines of enquiry. "The support of our communities is essential when it comes to tackling serious organised crime, preventing violence and getting justice for victims. I want to thank the public for their assistance so far and encourage anyone else with information to come forward." Last week, Michael Riley (44) of Merseyside appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court via videolink from HMP Wandsworth, in connection with the murders at Monaghans Bar in Fuengirola on May 31st. He is wanted by Spanish police on warrant, and remanded into custody ahead of an extradition hearing set to take place A full extradition hearing is set to be held later this year. Riley has not been charged with the murders.

Scottish police say underworld killings in Spain 'not linked' to gang war
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Claims by Spanish police that the murders of two Scottish underworld figures in Spain are linked to a long running gangland feud have been refuted by the Chief Constable of Police Scotland. At a meeting on Thursday in Edinburgh of oversight body the Scottish Police Authority (SPA) Jo Farrell also denied the fatal shootings were planned in Scotland. Ross Monaghan, 46, and Eddie Lyons jnr, 43, were both shot dead at an Irish bar co owned by Monaghan in the Spanish holiday resort of Fuengirola on May 31, reports The Record. Both victims were senior members of the Lyons crime clan who have been involved in a long running feud with the rival Daniel family dating back almost 25 years. At a press conference earlier this month Malaga-based police chief, Pedro Agudo Novo, who is investigating the double murder, said it was linked to a rivalry with the Daniel family, which resurfaced earlier this year across Scotland. When asked if the gunman belonged to the Daniel's crime family, replied: "Yes. Absolutely." He then added: "The double murder was carried out by a professional killer and member of one of the victims' rival gangs. "In this case, we are not talking about an independent hired killer, but an internal member of the rival Daniels gang who ends up assassinating two members of an enemy gang." Since March members and associates of the Daniel family in Edinburgh and Glasgow have been subjected to fire bombings, machete assaults and other targeted iolence by a group linked to the Lyons family. Police Scotland, who are investigating the attacks under Operation Portaledge, have previously denied any links between the double murder in Spain and the ongoing feud. However the Chief Constable went one step further on Thursday when she presented her force's annual report to SPA board members. The report said:" Police Scotland is supporting Spanish Police following the fatal shootings in Fuengirola. "At this time there is no evidence to suggest these deaths are linked to the recent criminal attacks in Scotland being investigated as part of Operation Portaledge or that the fatal shooting was planned in Scotland." Ms Farrell also revealed the numbers of arrests under Portaledge had reached 49 and thanked both the public and forensic staff at the Scottish Police Authority for their help. She added: "A dedicated team of officers from our Specialist Crime Division, with support from local divisions across the country, continue to carry out extensive enquiries to gather vital evidence and reassure the public with intelligence-led patrols. "We are still working tirelessly to build cases and are following a number of significant lines of enquiry. "The support of our communities is essential when it comes to tackling serious organised crime, preventing violence and getting justice for victims. I want to thank the public for their assistance so far and encourage anyone else with information to come forward." Both Monaghan and Lyons jnr were gunned down in front of terrified customers who had been watching the Champions League Final on television. The gunman shot Lyons jnr first then chased Monaghan into the bar where he was shot several times. On June 13 Merseyside Police, acting on an international arrest warrant detained a Liverpool man called Michael Riley in connection with the shootings The 44-year-old has since appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court in London where he was remanded ahead of an extradition hearing on October 9. Career criminal Ross Monaghan was tried but acquitted over the murder of notorious Daniel enforcer Kevin "Gerbil" Carroll at an Asda car park in Glasgow in 2010. Seven years later he and Lyons jnr were cleared of being involved in a brutal street attack on three men outside the Campsie bar in Bishopbriggs, near Glasgow. Since last month's double murder Monaghan's bar has reopened under another name, The Irish Rover.
