Regarding the recent death of 18 cows within the Vemulawada Rajanna temple premises, Bandi said that officials mishandled the situation. 'It is the responsibility of officials to provide adequate facilities. The temple Executive Officer must ensure facilities for the cattle,' he urged.

Union minister and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Chirag Paswan has dismissed speculation regarding discontent within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar after his absence from the Janaki Mandir foundation stone-laying ceremony in Sitamarhi last week raised eyebrows. The Sitamarhi event was attended by key NDA figures, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Opposition members quickly seized on Paswan's absence, particularly notable after he was a prominent presence during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visits to poll-bound Bihar. The Opposition suggested the absence was indicative of a larger fracture within the alliance and that Paswan was being deliberately sidelined. Paswan rejected the claims and said the Opposition's narrative was baseless. 'I was in Sitamarhi, but due to the weather conditions, the programme was preponed, and I had a prior commitment in Patna. Since there was a road jam due to the rain, by the time I reached Sitamarhi, the programme had already ended… and I could not make it to the stage in time,' he explained. Congress Spokesperson Gyan Ranjan Gupta, meanwhile, alleged that 'Paswan's exclusion from the ceremony was due to his Dalit identity.' Gupta said the 'same thing was noticed at the time of Ram Mandir inauguration, where President Murmu was not invited.' Paswan, however, said the Opposition was trying to spread confusion. The LJP (RV) leader said that due to his past, such speculations are 'rolled out very easily'. 'In 2020, Chirag did this, so this time too, Chirag is going to do the same. Absolutely not. Chirag is not going to do that this time,' he said. During the last Bihar Assembly elections, Paswan's party had contested independently, fielding 134 candidates. While the then LJP managed to win only a single seat, it had dented the JD(U)'s tally in several constituencies. Paswan said the Opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) became the largest party in 2020 only by benefiting from his split from the NDA, and that the party was trying to create similar conditions ahead of the 2025 elections. 'Even at that time, if the NDA had stayed united like it is today, which seats would they have won? They only won those seats where Chirag Paswan contested alone,' he claimed. He further said that his earlier criticisms of the Bihar government were not rooted in rebellion but in genuine concern for the people of Bihar. 'Those who see rebellion in my statements, that is not rebellion. Those are my concerns. And from time to time, within the alliance, I have made efforts to ensure that the concerns of the people of Bihar are given due respect,' he said. Just a few weeks ago, Paswan had ruffled feathers within the NDA, particularly among JD(U) leaders, by saying, 'I feel sad to support a government under which crime is completely out of control.' However, in his recent remarks, Paswan reasoned that his concerns about crime have slowly brought the system 'under control' again. Shifting his tone, particularly regarding the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, he said, 'Criminals tried to suddenly raise their heads and create chaos, but gradually that came under control… I have always had faith in my Chief Minister that it is possible only under his leadership. The people of Bihar have not called him Sushasan Babu (Good Governance Man) for nothing. But yes, the Opposition still wants that, in any way possible, some rift appears in the NDA,' Chirag said.

Rs 3,200 cr crop insurance disbursed to farmers under PMFBY in Jhunjhunu
Jaipur: RajasthanChief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, on Monday, released Rs 3,200 crore as insurance claim amount to farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) The amount was transferred directly to the bank accounts of more than 30 lakh farmers across several states, including Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh, during a ceremony held at the Jhunjhunu airstrip. The event began with a special welcome for the dignitaries, where CM Sharma and Union Minister Chouhan were presented bouquets made from millets. By pressing a button, the Chief Minister and Union Agriculture Minister initiated the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for the first installment of insurance claims for the Rabi 2024-25 and Kharif 2024 seasons. Symbolic cheques were also distributed to beneficiaries of various schemes. Union Minister Chouhan announced that crop insurance claims worth Rs 3,200 crore were being disbursed to farmers nationwide from Jhunjhunu, providing much-needed relief to PMFBY beneficiaries. Since the formation of the state government till July 2025, Rajasthan alone has paid crop insurance claims worth Rs 3,912.53 crore to 148 lakh eligible policyholder farmers. Addressing the gathering, CM Sharma said that more than Rs 1,200 crore had been distributed for farmers in the state. Calling them the 'soul, pride, and honor' of the nation, the Chief Minister accused the previous Congress government of neglecting the welfare of farmers in the state. He alleged that Congress used the slogan 'Garibi Hatao' only for votes and failed to fulfill promises such as bringing Yamuna water to the region. The Chief Minister said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, an agreement with Haryana for Yamuna water had been signed, with a Detailed Project Report (DPR) underway and a task force formed. 'In the coming time, the people of Shekhawati will definitely get Yamuna water,' he added. On this occasion, under the State-wise Crop Insurance Distribution, farmers in Madhya Pradesh received Rs 1,156 crore, Rajasthan Rs 1,121 crore, Chhattisgarh Rs 150 crore and other states had a share of Rs 773 crore. State Agriculture Minister Kirori Lal Meena has said that the state government had taken strict action against the sale of fake fertilisers and seeds, seizing large quantities and registering multiple FIRs.

Kerala FM Balagopal meets Nirmala Sitharaman, seeks nod to borrow additional Rs 6,000 crore this fiscal
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Finance Minister K N Balagopal met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi on Monday seeking permission to borrow an additional Rs 6,000 crore this financial year and restore the amounts that were deducted on various counts in a bid to reduce the strain on fiscal health of the state and to meet expenditures related to Onam season. Highlighting the challenges being faced by the state in meeting its expenditure commitments due to shrinking fiscal space, Balagopal urged the Union minister to allow the state to borrow Rs 6,000 crore in the current financial year without any conditions, over and above the net borrowing ceiling fixed by the centre. Balagopal also brought to her attention that 25% of land acquisition cost of National Highway widening was met through borrowing. However, it was deducted from the annual borrowing limit of the state. This is against the Union government's policy of encouraging capital expenditure by the states as capital expenditure should be encouraged for India to get out of the middle-income trap, he told the Union minister. Balagopal also sought release of Rs 1,877 crore that was allowed for the state in 2023-24 on account of variation in the Gross State Domestic Product, which was adjusted in 2024-25. He also wanted the Centre to restore Rs 3,323 crore that was deducted from the state's borrowing limit for a shortfall in Guarantee Redemption Fund (GRF) contribution. He said the state has already constituted GRF and contributions at one percent for next five years are slated to commence within the current quarter of the fiscal year itself. Balagopal also drew the minister's attention to deduction of another Rs 965 crore from Integrated Goods and Services Tax and sought its restoration.
