
Golden Goose opens first junior stores in Milan and Dubai, launches Pescheria format in Forte dei Marmi, opens store in Dallas
The stores' décor is inspired by children's bedrooms, and is characterised by a 'think big' design philosophy: Every element features on an exaggerated scale, for example an oversize bed, huge toy sculptures, and a myriad building blocks. The ceiling's wallpaper is decorated with a cosmic motif, and there is no shortage of vintage details and hidden corners.
Interactive elements such as a co-creation table and various play walls invite children to experiment with design. Goldy, a soft, customizable plush toy and the official Golden Goose Kids mascot, is debuting in the new stores. Creative workshops will also be held in the stores, giving the whole family a chance to enjoy shared educational and networking opportunities.
The openings have coincided with the launch of the new Golden Goose Kids collection of sneakers, apparel and accessories for infants, children and teenagers, characterised by the brand's signature vintage/varsity aesthetic and well-worn style.
This summer, Golden Goose will also be back for the sixth consecutive year at Italian seaside resort Forte dei Marmi with a new concept, Pescheria Golden, where the brand's retail space morphs into a lively fishmonger (or 'pescheria' in Italian). A boat, striped awnings, wooden boxes and hand-painted tiles welcome visitors to the Pescheria, where a series of buoys lead to the area where customers can personalise their sneakers with marine-inspired crystals and charms, and hand-embroidered and painted elements.
The décor inside the Pescheria features a soft palette of blue and off-white, with added nautical cables and rudders, while the fitting rooms are disguised as cold storage rooms. The fish counter, the heart of the store, displays Golden Goose sneakers among ice buckets, ceramic fish and product tags. There is also a corner for children, decorated with boats, woven baskets and souvenirs. The new Pescheria concept introduces the brand's Golden Resort Collection 2025: A relaxed Mediterranean-inspired wardrobe featuring garments in lightweight cotton, soft linen and sailor-stripe motifs, all in marine shades and pale pastel colours.
The women's collection is characterised by airy silhouettes, crochet dresses and pyjama-style ensembles, while the men's line is casual-elegant, featuring linen fabrics, nautical prints and retro volumes. This season's Golden Goose sneakers combine artisanal details with vibrant hues, while accessories like raffia bags, straw hats with nautical motifs and a macramé bag with a lobster-shaped charm complete the range.
Finally, Golden Goose has inaugurated its third Forward store in the USA, at the NorthPark Center in Dallas. The brand's two other US stores were opened in New York in 2022 and in Miami's Design District in 2023. The décor of the 550-square-metre store is inspired by the brand's Venetian headquarters and its Italian heritage, with raw concrete walls and tin ceilings, offset by homely touches such as period rugs, vintage wooden furniture and souvenirs collected all over the world for the Golden Goose archive.

Just beyond the borders of geographical Europe, in Silopi, southeastern Turkey, the thermometer even reached 50.5°C on July 26.

Fleeing the heat, tourists explore Rome at night, underground
At a refreshing 15C, the catacombs were a popular place to hide this week as temperatures in the Eternal City reached almost 40C, while other visitors sought out evening tours and 2:00 am walks. "If we could have postponed our trip, we would have done it, but everything was already booked," said Ansari, 32, visiting Italy with her mother and an aunt. Instead, they adapted. "We booked our earliest tour starting at 7:30 am, and aim to be home before midday," she told AFP, taking refuge on a shaded stone bench near the Appian Way next to her aunt, who appeared overwhelmed by the heat. They do not venture out again before 4:00 pm or 5:00 pm, and, as in many Mediterranean countries, they pushed back their dinner time by three hours to 9:00 pm. In central Rome, Rafael Falcao also headed underground, to the Crypt of the Capuchin Friars on the Via Veneto, which he found relatively cool. He too, had to change his plans as a heatwave punishing southern Europe pushed up Rome's already high August temperatures. "Yesterday, we rented a small car to visit the city because it was too hot to walk," the 42-year-old Brazilian said. Patricia Kolodziej, a 41-year-old Polish woman living in Britain, said she struggled to find things to do with her toddler in the heat. But she managed to get tickets for the last entry to the Colosseum, the ancient Roman amphitheatre that's a must-see for tourists -- but which can be a furnace during the day. "We have chosen more sightseeing in the evening," Kolodziej told AFP. A few steps away, under the shadow of the Colosseum, an Asian tourist who declined to give her name, seemed close to fainting, her forehead sweating. Why Italians are swapping their beloved beach holidays for mountains
For decades, Italian families up and down the boot have followed the same summer routine. They book their sun loungers and umbrellas at their regular beach destination for weeks, or even months, and decamp to the seaside for the holidays. This year, however, companies based on the beach are reporting a drastic drop in visitors, especially those who stay for extended periods. At the same time, Italy's mountain ranges to the north are besieged by tourists. Political factions are blaming price hikes at the coast for the lack of holidaymakers, but heatwaves and a changing climate are also key drivers. Beach holidays in Italy are becoming more expensive Italians are snubbing their beloved beaches in droves this year, with as much as a 25 per cent drop in visitors in June and July along some coastlines. "We're in the busiest tourist season of the year, but there aren't any people: we're here counting sheep," one beach establishment owner from Abruzzo told Italian media. Beach establishment association Assobalneari Italia has attributed the decline to the high cost of living and its impact on spending. The cost of renting a sun lounger is now on average 17 per cent more than it was four years ago, according to data collected by the consumer association Altroconsumo. On the beaches of Lazio, for example, it's difficult to rent two sun loungers and an umbrella for less than €30 a day. This figure rises to €90 in the most popular seaside resorts in Puglia and Sardinia. Italians escape to the mountains for cooler weather Italians aren't necessarily abandoning the beaches to stay at home and save money. In sharp contrast to the crisis in beach tourism, there has been a boom in visitors heading to the country's mountain destinations. While it's true that a break in the mountains on average costs less than at the beach, experts suggest it's more to do with the climatic changes pummelling the continent. June was one of the hottest on record globally, with Europe experiencing an intense and prolonged heatwave that saw temperatures soar above 40°C in several countries. The heat abated slightly in July, but the month was still Europe's fourth-warmest on record overall. In response, tourists are turning to cooler climes for some respite from the heat, particularly Alpine areas like the Dolomites. In Trentino, a northern area home to several national parks and mountain peaks, visitor numbers are already close to breaking last summer's record of over 10 million. 'We need to be good at promoting more than just a few iconic locations' The surge in summer tourism has been a salvation for many mountain resorts struggling with warmer winters and a curtailed snow season. But tourism experts say it is now vital to bolster infrastructure and management to prevent another case of overtourism. "I don't like the term 'overtourism'; I prefer the term 'bad management,' meaning poor organisation of visitor flows," Gianni Battaiola, president of Trentino Marketing, told Italian media. Dozens of popular mountain destinations have struggled to cope with the massive influx of visitors this summer. One example even made it into international media. High in the Dolomites, a hiking trail on Seceda mountain has become a renowned place for taking dramatic shots of the spiky Odle Peaks. This summer, walkers and locals have been sharing images of the route jammed with queues of tourists waiting to take Instagram-worthy snaps. Some 8,000 people reportedly walked the path on a single day in July. Frustrations grew to the point that local landowners decided to take independent action and install a turnstile with a toll at the beginning of a trail. "In some areas, such as Seceda, Lake Braies, and the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, the influx is difficult to manage,' added Walter De Cassan, president of the hotel association Federalberghi Belluno. 'We need to be good at promoting more than just a few iconic locations. Just a few kilometres away, you'll find areas that are equally beautiful, but still relatively unfrequented." Given Europe's lengthening summers, tourism experts are also emphasising the attractions of the mountains in September and October, in a bid to spread out the visitor influx. Battaiola of Trentino Marketing said autumn is "taking shape" this year, thanks in part to initiatives such as keeping mountain huts open later in the season and offering activities centred around the area's autumnal gastronomy and viticulture.
