India's schedule for their men's and women's tour of England next year has been announced, with the men's team to play solely limited overs cricket and the women's side playing three T20Is and a Test. The men's white-ball tour will consist of five T20Is and three ODI, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said on Thursday. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also confirmed the same and it potentially means that veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli could tour England one last time, with the pair having retired from Tests and T20Is.
The women's tour starts first with the first T20I set to be played at the Ambassador Cruise Line Ground in Chelmsford. Bristol will host the second T20I on May 30 and the series ends in Taunton on June with the third T20I. The standalone Test will then be hosted at Lord's from July 10.
The men's five-match T20I tour starts at Chester-le-Street on July 1, followed by the second T20I in Manchester at Old Trafford on July 4. The third T20I will be played at Trent Bridge on July 7. Briston will host the fourth T20I on July 9 after which the series ends at the Rose Bowl in Southampton.
The three-match ODI series comes after that with the first match in Birmingham on Juky 14. This will be followed by matches at Cardiff, on July 16 and Lord's at July 19.
The Ben Stokes-led England men's Test team will also welcome New Zealand and Pakistan in two Rothesay Test series, while Harry Brook's white-ball side will host Sri Lanka besides India in ODIs and T20Is.
'We're really excited to unveil what promises to be a spectacular summer of international cricket in 2026. With world class opposition visiting iconic venues across the country, fans will have the chance to witness the very best of the men's and women's game,' ECB Chief Executive Officer Richard Gould said in a statement.
'The highlight of the summer will undoubtedly be the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, hosted here in England for the first time since 2009. It's a huge moment for the women's game, for Nat Sciver-Brunt and her team, and it's a fantastic opportunity to inspire the next generation of players and fans.
'And just after that, we're thrilled that Lord's will also host an England Women's Test match for the first time, marking a really special period of time for the women's game,' he added.

‘Unke paas koi bowling hain nahi': Sunil Gavaskar on why England went with green top at Oval Test vs India

Former India player Sunil Gavaskar said that England had opted for a green top pitch for the 5th and final Test against India because they don't have a lot of their wicket-taking bowlers at their disposal. England are coming into this match without Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer and Brydon carse who have taken the lion's share of wickets this series. 'Arrey unke paas koi bowling hi hain nahi (They don't have much of a bowling attack). this is why they have made such a pitch. Stokes has taken wickets, Archer has taken wickets and Carse has taken wickets. If they are not in your team, who will take wickets? This is why they have made such a pitch so that it helps bowlers like Tongue and Co,' Gavaskar said on Sony Sports on Thursday. Stokes was ruled out due to an injury to his right shoulder, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced on Wednesday. Stokes was one of the four changes England have announced to their playing XI for the final Test. Taking their place in the XI will be Jacob Bethell, Jamie Overton, Gus Atkinson and Josh Tongue with Ollie Pope captaining the team. ECB said that Bethell will bat at No 6. Stokes has been crucial to England's fortunes in the series against India. Not only is he the leading wicket-taker in the series with 17 scalps, he also scored his first Test century in two years in Manchester in the previous Test. Stokes was the Player of the Match in the last two Tests. The injury is the latest setback for the all-rounder after he was sidelined by two hamstring tears last year. The fate of the India vs England series hangs on the fifth Test with England ahead with a 2-1 margin.

Not T20 WC Winners New Zealand! Alyssa Healy Chooses Teams Tough To Beat At ODI WC

Last Updated: Australia skipper Alyssa Healy has previewed the ODI World Cup, naming India as top contenders and acknowledging England. Australia captain Alyssa Healy has said that while India would be the team to beat at the upcoming ODI World Cup in September, she wouldn't write off England yet, who have quite a few triumphs to their name in the prestigious 50-over competition, where Australia are the defending champions. Healy spoke to the media at an event in Sydney on Thursday and she revealed that everything was on target for the Australians as they try and become the first team to defend the ODI World Cup title in 37 years. Tredrea and they will head into this year's tournament in India as one of the favourites to hold aloft the coveted trophy. 'But I think the way that India are playing, at home in those conditions, they are going to be tough to beat," Healy added. The star Australian wicketkeeper is inching closer to making her comeback from the foot injury she picked up at the 2024 T20 World Cup and is eyeing off Australia A's upcoming series at home against India A as her opportunity to return to competitive action. Healy has not played for Australia since she featured as a batter in the one-off Test against England at the MCG in February and the most recent time she kept wickets was in an ODI against the same team in January at the start of 2025. 'I haven't kept in a competitive game since January and that's given me a little bit of time to tinker with a few things and make it a little bit easier on my body," Healy said. 'We've been taught how to wicketkeep a certain way in this country for an extended period and at the end of the day, it's not overly efficient on our bodies and doing it at 35, it's not ideal," Healy added. Australia will begin their campaign against New Zealand on October 1 at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. India In, Pakistan Out Of Men's T20 Cricket At LA Olympics 2028: Report

While India and Australia are expected to be part of men's cricket event at the LA Olympics, Pakistan and New Zealand will miss the cut. Cricket is set to make its long-awaited Olympic return when Los Angeles will host the Summer Games in 2028. The ICC will reportedly employ the regional qualifying format which will see top-ranked teams making the cut from their respective regions in the six-team tournaments (men and women). According to The Guardian, India and Australia are expected to be awarded a spot each from Asia and Oceania respectively in men's cricket. From Europe, Team Great Britain is guaranteed a spot as well. However, the decision to use the regional qualifying system, taken during ICC AGM in Singapore earlier this month, has reportedly drawn backlash from New Zealand and Pakistan as they will miss men's cricket's return to Olympic. Cricket will make its Olympic comeback after being last included at the 1900 Summer Games held in Paris. During the event, Britain defeated France in a one-off match to win the gold medal. The decision to include cricket was taken during an IOC meeting in Mumbai in October of 2023. Why ICC Chose The Criteria? The regional qualifying system is preferred by the Olympic movement as it ensures that there will be participation from across the globe. During the ICC meet, it was proposed that the top-ranked teams from Asia, Oceania, Europe and Africa will qualify for the quadrennial spectacle with host USA – qualifying on account of being the host – representing the Americas. However, there's a possibility of a Caribbean nation replacing USA in light of the governing issues plaguing their cricket board. ICC had asked the USA Cricket's Board to resign earlier this month. Criteria For Women's T20 Competition The qualification for the women's cricket event at LA Olympics will be decided at the T20 World Cup which England are set to host. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
