Former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates striker Lehlohonolo Majoro believes the young players in the Amakhosi and Buccaneers teams are helping renew excitement among supporters.

Pirates have seen the likes of Relebohile Mofokeng, Mohau Nkota and Mbekezeli Mbokazi come to the fore over the last couple of seasons. For Chiefs, Wandile Duba and Mduduzi Shabalala have been in good form at times this campaign. Mfundo Vilakazi, meanwhile, is clearly one to watch.
Majoro – 'Youngsters as leaders'
'Kids aged five to ten are coming to the stadiums. They see these youngsters as leaders in big teams like Chiefs and Pirates,' said Majoro this week.
Duba is unfortunately suspended for Saturday's Premiership game between Chiefs and Pirates at FNB Stadium. Vilakazi is with the Under-20 national team at the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
But Nkota and Mofokeng will be two players Pirates fans will be hoping can get on the scoresheet against Chiefs.
Majoro is one player who knows all about the feeling of scoring in the derby.
'Strikers are always rated on the goals we score. It really means a lot to us,' he added.
'Truth be told every player, every youngster that aspires to play for these clubs wants to be in games like the derby.
'Having scored in the derby and played for both Chiefs and Pirates, sometimes I pat myself on the back and say I did myself proud.'
Chiefs are currently ninth in the Premiership with Pirates in second. But form often also goes out the window in games like this. In the first round in February, it took a 96th minute penalty from Pirates' Patrick Maswanganyi to separate the two teams.
'Greatest performance'
'Chiefs went into that game as underdogs. But they have proved over and over that when people expect them to lose they always come in with their greatest performance,' added Majoro.

'Pirates did win. I don't want to say controversially, but it was a photo finish. If there is a goal in the first 15 minutes (on Saturday) I think we are in for an entertaining second leg.'
As for Majoro's prediction for Saturday's game, as a former striker for both sides it is perhaps not surprising he picks a 2-2 draw.

Orlando Pirates transfers: Mako, Mashiloane, Appollis
Today's Orlando Pirates transfer wrap looks at both outgoings and potential incoming ahead of the new season. Paseka Mako leaves Pirates after seven years. Versatile defender Tshepho Mashiloane joins from Baroka. 31-year-old full-back Paseka Mako made 26 appearances across all competitions last term for Pirates. The compact left-sided star is much-loved by the fans. Another firm favourite, Deon Hotto, is 34 now and approaching the twilight of his stellar career. Is it foolish, therefore, to let go of Mako, who still has plenty to offer at this level? In their search for a prolific wide man, Chiefs have reportedly reignited their interest in Polokwane and Bafana star Oswin Appollis. The 23-year-old was in action for South Africa in a 0-0 draw against Tanzania. Appollis is also a target for Pirates. Click for the story What is there to know about 23-year-old Tshepho Mashiloane? Well, the versatile defender can operate at right-back or in central midfield. This will be a considerable boost for the Pirates technical team; although they have a strong squad at their disposal, both full-back positions are relatively weak spots after the release of Thabiso Monyane and Mako. With experience in the second tier, it's also hoped that he's ready for a battle. Click for a full profile Tshepho Mashiloane in action for Baroka FC in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. BREAKING: Kaizer Chiefs agree deal for Orlando Pirates star!
Kaizer Chiefs have moved quickly to finalise a deal to sign a player departing from arch rivals Orlando Pirates! Chiefs are looking to ensure that they do not have the same season as their two previous campaigns. It is not usual that players move directly between the Soweto giants, however, it has happened in the recent past. This is usually only through free agency, with names like Jimmy Tau, Lehlohonolo Majoro and Brilliant Khuzwayo coming to mind. Those players moved between Chiefs and Pirates without the clubs being involved in direct negotiations with each other. Pirates and Chiefs agreed historic Sam deal Then last season, however, Chiefs and Pirates negotiated a historic first ever transfer between each other. Amakhosi acquired the services of Bongani Sam from the Buccaneers, with the left-back signing for a reported R3 million fee. This publication then reported on Friday evening that Thabiso Monyane could be next to cross the divide. Last night, those news escalated with an update claiming Chiefs are in advanced talks with Monyane. Now there has been even further movement in that regard. According to iDiski Times, Amakhosi have reached an agreement with the right-back to sign him ahead of the next season. Amakhosi agree deal to sign Monyane from the Buccaneers ' Former Orlando Pirates wing-back Thabiso Monyane is set to join Kaizer Chiefs after the expiry of his contract. Monyane, 25, is embarking on a new journey of his career, leaving the club where he was raised from the development structures, towards a new challenge at their Soweto rivals. SABC Sport broke the news last week that Amakhosi had been offered the chance to sign the player, and this website has it on good authority, a deal has been reached between the two parties.' PSL transfer news: Mbesuma, Mbule, Mofokeng, Moremi, Rulani
Premier Soccer League (PSL) clubs are preparing for the transfer window to open in the coming weeks. The Betway Premiership might have ended but expect more player movement from now until mid-September. While champions Mamelodi Sundowns are preparing for the FIFA Club World Cup, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates will look to capitalise and bring in top players to challenge for top honours. Last year, Amakhosi was the busiest PSL team in the transfer window, bringing in seven players before adding three more in the January period. Under Nasreddine Nabi, the Soweto giants won the Nedbank Cup but failed to improve in the league. Collins Mbesuma, who played for Amakhosi in the mid-2000s, has offered his services to his former club. 'A PSL club? Of course, Khosi for Life. At my peak, I could be solving their current goal-scoring crisis. I'm a striker's coach, you know, so I'm available to help any team,' Mbesuma told KickOff . The midfielder was been linked with Amakhosi for several weeks, having reportedly parted ways with Mamelodi Sundowns. His agent, Mike Makaab revealed he offered the ex-Richards Bay midfielder to Amakhosi 'Let me set the record straight. Sipho Mbule has been offered to Kaizer Chiefs,' the agent admitted on X. 'It is up to the club to make the decision and we need to respect that decision.' Another player on the move is AmaZulu winger Tshepang Moremi. According to Soccer Laduma , the Buccaneers had secured a three-year deal with the KwaZulu-Natal-based talent. 'We can say that this Orlando Pirates and Moremi deal is as good as done,' an insider told Soccer Laduma . Yes, it's believed that Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs were also interested in him, but Pirates have won this race. It's as good as done at the moment,' the insider added. Another coach who could rejoin Orlando Pirates is Rulani Mokwena. With Jose Riveiro with Al Ahly, Mokwena is amongst the favourites to take over from the Spaniard. The 37-year-old has a short, unsuccessful stint with Tunisian giants Wydad Casablanca. Orlando Pirates will be the PSL team to watch this transfer period, having already released several players. One top player set to leave for Europe is Relebohile Mofokeng.
