
QSL announces special arrangements for Qatar Cup 2025 final

The Qatar Stars League (QSL) announced the arrangements and preparations for Qatar Cup 2025 final between Al Sadd and Al Duhail on Saturday at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium of Al Sadd club (kick-off 7pm).
The announcement was made at a press conference held at QSL Headquarters, attended by Hassan Rabiah Al Kuwari, Executive Director of Sales, Marketing and Communication at QSL, and Ahmed Salman Al Adsani, Director of Competitions at QSL, in the presence of media representatives and Qatar Cup Ambassadors.
Al Kuwari said, 'I welcome all attendees and congratulate both teams on qualifying for the final of The Glorious Cup to which we attach great importance in terms of preparations and arrangements, in co-operation and co-ordination with all stakeholders and partners, to ensure a distinguished performance at all levels.
Tickets for the match went on sale on Monday, May 5, and are available only through QSL's official website tickets.qsl.qa.
A dedicated fan zone will be active two hours before kick-off and will feature related facilities and entertainment activities with the aim of providing a unique fan experience.
Valuable prizes will also be available through a raffle, including a car as well as cash prizes totalling QR10,000 for each participant in the Golden Goal half-time activation.
Al Kuwari extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to all sponsors, partners, stakeholders, media organisations, Host Broadcaster and Qatar Cup 2025 Ambassadors.
Mr. Al Adsani said, 'We congratulate both teams on their participation in the Qatar Cup 2025 final. We also emphasize that our preparations are going on well to ensure a distinguished final, in co-ordination with the two clubs and all relevant parties. We thank them all for their co-operation.'
A technical meeting was held with representatives of both teams to discuss organizational procedures, match-day operations and coronation. It was emphasized that, in accordance with what was previously announced, if the match ends in a draw, extra time will be played for 30 minutes, divided into two halves. If the draw persists, penalty shoot-out will be enforced.

Al Duhail part ways with coach Galtier after contract ends
Tribune News Network Doha Al Duhail have parted ways with French coach Christophe Galtier following the expiration of his contract, the Qatar Stars League (QSL) club announced on Tuesday. The former Paris Saint-Germain coach joined Al Duhail in October 2023, replacing Argentine tactician Hernan Crespo. 'The management of Al Duhail Sports Club extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to the technical director of the first football team, Mr. Christophe Galtier, and his assistant staff, following the end of his contract with the club. We wish them all the best in their next endeavors,' Al Duhail said in a statement on X. Al Duhail ended the season without a trophy, finishing as runners-up in both the QSL and the Qatar Cup, with Al Sadd claiming both titles. They were also eliminated from the Amir Cup at the quarter-final stage after a loss to Al Rayyan.

Al Sadd's Afif and Sanchez scoop best player and coach awards; Al Shamal's Mannai best U-23 player
Tribune News Network Doha The Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC) hosted Qatar Football Association (QFA) Awards Ceremony for the 2024-2025 season on Monday in the presence of a number of dignitaries, guests, invitees, club presidents and representatives, technical and administrative staff, players and media representatives. The annual ceremony honoured the most outstanding players of the season and featured the following awards: Order Of Achievement The Order of Achievement (highest honours) is awarded by the Board of Trustees of QFA Awards to personalities who make distinguished contributions during their lifetime to the development of football. This time, the award went to: • Ahmed Omar (may God have mercy on him), a former Qatari football star and technical expert at QFA. • Ali Mohammed Al Ali (may God have mercy on him), a former Qatari football star and Chairman of QFA's Veteran Players' Committee. Football For All Award This award is given by the QFA Awards Board of Trustees to organisations or individuals making a significant contribution to promote the culture of football in society. This season, the Negdar (We Can) initiative, launched by Qatar Stars League in partnership with Generation Amazing and Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) with support from Ministry of Public Health, won the award. Best Fans Award Al Sadd club won the award based on the average fan attendance during the league, according to previously announced criteria: average fan attendance according to official statistics approved by relevant authorities; creativity and innovation, including methods of encouragement and motivation; and social responsibility programmes and various community initiatives. Best Referees Award Won by the quartet of: Mohammed Ahmed Al Shammari (Best Referee); Juma Mohammed Al Burshaid (Best Assistant Referee); Khaled Aied Khalaf (Best Assistant Referee); Abdulrahman Ibrahim Al Jassim (Best Video Assistant Referee – VAR) Mansour Muftah Award (Top Scorer) Al Rayyan star Roger Guedes clinched the award by scoring 21 goals in 2024-2025 Ooredoo Stars League. Best U-23 Player Award Al Shamal player Mohammed Mannai won the award, receiving the highest percentage of votes (41.24 %), after competing with Moaz Al Wadie of Al Shahania and Abdullah Yousef of Al Gharafa. Best Goalkeeper Award Al Sadd's Meshaal Barsham won the award, receiving the highest percentage of votes (48.18 %), after competing with Salah Zakaria of Al Duhail and Marwan Sherif of Al Ahli. Best Coach Award Al Sadd's Felix Sanchez won the award, receiving the highest percentage of votes (54.17 %), after competing with Al Ahli's Igor Biscan and Al Gharafa's Pedro Martins. Best Player Award Al Sadd star Akram Afif continued his impressive and strong performance, receiving the highest percentage of votes (89.27 %), after competing with Al Shamal's Baghdad Bounedjah and Al Ahli's Julian Draxler.
