Sir David Jason reveals honest thoughts on Ronnie Barker
The actors first worked together on Hark at Barker in 1969 before coming together again to star in Open All Hours, which ran for four series.

Sir David Jason calls Ronnie Barker 'great fun'
Speaking to The Times, Sir David opened up about working with Ronnie, sharing: "I was going to say Ronnie was always up to no good but that's unfair; he was great fun and he was great company.
"Whenever I'm working or with people, if anything happens to make me laugh, I often am reminded of working with Ronnie."
The actor added: "I have such fond memories of his off-screen stuff that nobody else can ever see.
"One day, we were at rehearsals for Open All Hours, and Ronnie and I did something that was not in the script.
"Whatever it was, we made ourselves laugh — fall about laughing — and as we came off the set Ronnie was still giggling away and he said to me, 'Aren't we lucky to be doing something that makes us laugh and we're getting paid for it?'
"That very moment has stuck with me forever."
Alongside his work in Open All Hours, Ronnie was known for his role as Norman Stanley Fletcher in Porridge, set in the fictional HMP Slade.

When Ronnie announced his retirement in 1988, it came as a shock to many, including Sir David.
Writing in his autobiography, This Time Next Year, Sir David said: "I felt it was far too soon for a man of Ronnie's talents to be stepping down... but there was nothing I or anyone else could do or say to change his mind.
"He was adamant, and it was hard to challenge him on it because I knew he had his own personal reasons for being so. Put bluntly, he feared the work might one day kill him."

Star of ‘one of the best TV series ever' promises season 2 is coming soon
It's been nearly 10 years since BBC's The Night Manager first hit our screens. The six-episode espionage drama, developed from John le Carré's 1993 novel bearing the same name, became an instant hit with viewers. Loki actor Tom Hiddleston, 44, played the main role of Jonathan Pine, while Hugh Laurie excelled as Richard Onslow Roper as Olivia Colman, Elizabeth Debicki and Tom Hollander rounded out a star-studded cast. Last year, fans were left in a state of ecstasy after the BBC finally announced its return to our screens after an eight-year absence. As of now, however, there have yet to be any concrete details released about when the second series is expected to come out. But, it appears the wait might be over sooner rather than later. Appearing on The One Show, Hiddleston – who is set to appear in the second and third instalments of the series – teased when audiences might anticipate the the show's next season. Speaking with presenters Roman Kemp and Clara Amfo, he was joined by The Life of Chuck co-stars Karen Gillan and Mark Hamill. Answering viewer's questions, he playfully shared that the second series would be 'coming soon'. Previously, it was revealed The Night Manager had received approval for second and third series from both the BBC and Amazon Prime Video, with Tom confirming his return to the forthcoming episodes. Additional information has remained largely confidential, though the second series will continue from where the original concluded, regardless of the considerable gap between both seasons. Despite the good news surrounding the second season returning soon, one star is reportedly being replaced. It was claimed last year that The Crown's Elizabeth Debicki will not be returning. More Trending Instead, the 34-year-old is said to be replaced by Daisy Jones and the Six star Camila Morrone – a former girlfriend of Leonardo DiCaprio. Earlier this month, Metro readers also claimed that The Night Manager is one of the 'smartest shows on television'. The critically acclaimed thriller has picked up three Golden Globes among many other awards. View More » The Night Manager is available to watch on BBC iPlayer. Got a story? The Walking Dead's David Morrissey banned from driving after 'speeding three times in a week'
The Walking Dead star David Morrissey has been banned from driving after he was caught speeding three times in a single week. David, 61, was sentenced after he was caught driving his black Mini Countryman at 46mph in a 40mph zone on the A406 in north west London early in the morning on August 2 2024. Two days later, he drove 55mph and 48mph in 40mph zones on the A40 near Greenford on August 4 and 5. He wasn't at the hearing at Willesden Magistrates' Court on Tuesday and was given a £5,700 fine. "Morrissey should pay the full £1,500 costs for the trial last week included in the fine," prosecutor Maya Arputham said. David already had nine points on his licence and was given nine more, meaning he has an automatic ban from driving for half a year. He previously denied but was found guilty of three charges of excessive speeding. Conall Bailie, who represented the State of Play actor, said: "There will be no issue in Morrissey paying the fine. But the court costs are a significant amount. The trial was a matter that took up less than three hours of court time. It wasn't particularly lengthy." District Judge Jack Walsh replied: "The sum of £1,500 in court costs appears to me to be eminently reasonable. I have found all three offences proved. He is convicted of all three offences. He did not have a clean driving record. "The case he put to court was entirely illegitimate, and he had a chance to come to court and give evidence. A defendant who forces the prosecution to pay attention to such close detail to prove his case is likely to be liable to the full prosecution costs as a result of adopting that sort of approach to the case."

The 'obnoxious' University Challenge contestant who has divided Britain: Some viewers praise Carenza Danko's assertive approach... but critics call her insuffereable
Carenza Danko made an impression on University Challenge viewers this week with her no-nonsense attitude and ruthless manner with her teammates. The student, who appeared on the BBC programme on Monday evening, has been branded 'the real life Hermione Granger' after pulling off something unexpected in a now-viral moment. During the segment, team captain Danko from Cardiff University admitted that she hadn't actually heard a question, which concerned a 16th-century monarch, before buzzing in to answer it. Despite missing part of the high-stakes starter question, she courageously took a stab and nailed it with the right answer, correctly guessing Mary, Queen of Scots. The moment sparked a lot of conversation on social media, particularly X (formerly Twitter), for how bold and lucky it was, and some viewers took to the social media platform to praise her for her confident attitude. But others branded her 'obnoxious and insufferable' for her assertive approach to leadership as she dominated her team. During the segment, team captain Danko from Cardiff University admitted that she hadn't actually heard part of a question, which concerned a 16th-century monarch One wrote: 'Danko is full of confidence.'; 'You know Danko wasn't chosen as captain, she said she was the captain!'; 'I think Danko was such a fun team captain, for some reason I love her lol.'; 'Danko - real life Hermione granger.' Meanwhile, others accused her of talking to her teammates like a 'primary school teacher.' One wrote: 'Danko of Cardiff seems absolutely insufferable.'; 'Danko's giving off school prefect vibes.'; 'Danko talking like a primary school teacher.'; 'Danko will be holding an inquiry about the team's performance... good luck lads.' The results of the quiz were a close call as Bristol finished top of the leaderboard with 118 points, whereas the Cardiff team scored 115 points. As the episode was wrapping up, host Amol Rajan, 42, said: 'Cardiff, it's such bad luck, you never quite got going. 'But we so enjoyed watching you try to work out answers. You came up with some very inventive ones, even though they were wrong. 'You were up against a very, very strong performance by a brilliant team. Well done, Bristol. The moment sparked a lot of conversation on social media, particularly X (formerly Twitter), for how bold and lucky it was, and viewers took to the social media platform to praise her for her confident attitude Meanwhile, others were not so impressed and took to social media to blast her as 'insufferable' for talking to her teammates like a 'primary school teacher.' 'That was comprehensive and hugely impressive, and we shall certainly see you again.' Not only is Danko a quiz whiz, but she also studies Biochemistry and regularly performs in plays. Last year, she performed as The Clown in one of the most popular Shakespearean comedies, Act One's Twelfth Night: An Elaborately Tangled Web of Displaced Desire. Meanwhile, in December last year, Cardiff University's Healthcare Drama Society took to the stage to perform a thrilling production of Blood Brothers at the Llanover Arts Centre. The production raised money for the student-led charity and society, Make a Smile. In the play adaptation of Willy Russell's musical Blood Brothers, Danko starred as Mrs Lyons, a hilarious upper-class housewife.
