Both the Houses witnessed three forced adjournments - after 11am, 12 noon and later at 2pm for the day - as the Opposition MPs kept up their vociferous protest against the
Election Commission
's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar and some other issues. While they paused the protest for a while in the LS for Speaker Om Birla to make the
Kargil Vijay Diwas
anniversary remarks, they did the same in the Rajya Sabha for Deputy Chairman Harivansh to administer the oath to actor and MKM president Kamal Haasan, who was elected to the House recently. The chair also rejected Opposition MPs' notices for adjournment motions on the issue of SIR, alleging it discriminated against the migrant workers of Bihar, and on the India-UK Free Trade Agreement.
Later, the respective presiding officers' attempts to proceed with the question hour didn't bear fruit given the sloganeering and disorder in the Houses, prompting the former to adjourn the proceedings for the day. Speaker Birla then asked the floor managers of ruling and Opposition sides to join him at a meeting to pave the path for House discussions next week.

Outside the Parliament, the MPs of the INDIA bloc, including Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, the respective leaders of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, took out a march towards the Gandhi statue, demanding scrapping of the SIR drive. They also tore off the placards written with "quit SIR" and threw them into the dustbins as their symbolic rejection of the ECI drive.

Indian Railways new trains: Indian Railways (IR) is considered as the backbone of the national economy. In recent years, it has undertaken several initiatives to enhance connectivity, including the introduction of new trains, track doubling and expansion, and the construction of Road Over Bridges (ROBs) and Road Under Bridges (RUBs). The question surfaced after Rajya Sabha MP Medha Vishram Kulkarni asked Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for details on the number of new trains launched over the last year. She also sought information on how many trains pass through Maharashtra, particularly Pune city. In response, Vaishnaw on Friday (July 25, 2025) informed that Indian Railways introduced a total of 182 new train services during the period 2024–25 and 2025–26 (up to June 2025). With the launch of these new trains, the regional connectivity has improved further. 'To cater to the needs of passengers, IR, during 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 (upto June,2025 ) have introduced 182 train services of which the following 20 train services, on originating/Terminating basis, are catering to the needs of stations located in the State of Maharashtra…,' the minister added. The minister also stated that a new train will be introduced between Pune and Rewa. He also stated that CSMT-Jalna Vande Bharat train will be extended. '…it has also been decided to introduce a new train between Pune and Rewa [with commercial stoppages inter alia at Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, Akola, Bhusaval, Manmad, Kopargaon, Ahmednagar, Daund] and to extend 20705/20706 Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj (T) – Jalna Vande Bharat Express (six days a week) upto Hazur Sahib Nanded,' he said. The Railway Minister also noted that Pune, Nasik and Aurangabad are presently being served by 291, 155 and 62 train services, respectively. 'Government must answer, be held accountable': Kiren Rijiju urges opposition not to stall Parliament; ‘disruptions hurt you more'
NEW DELHI: Parliamentary affairs minister Kiren Rijiju warned the opposition that frequent House disruptions undermine their "own role in democracy" by robbing them of the opportunity to question the government. His remarks came after the first week of the ongoing Monsoon Session, which was largely derailed by repeated protests from opposition MPs, who have been raising alarm over the Election Commission's ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. Noting that "tough questions" don't get raised when the proceedings are disrupted, Rijiju said, "Let me tell you, officers are relieved when Parliament doesn't function because they escape the grilling. The government can be held accountable in Parliament. When the House runs, ministers face tough questions. When it adjourns within minutes, those questions don't even get raised. Opposition loses more than the government when Parliament is disrupted.
