Coronation Street's Carl Webster actor is married to a famous Hollywood movie star – can you guess who?

HIS arrival on the cobbles was a big coup for Coronation Street bosses.
Soap newcomer Jonathan Howard, who plays Kevin Webster's half-brother Carl, has an impressive acting pedigree having starred in a Marvel blockbuster alongside industry heavyweights.

And now fans are realising that his wife Elodie Yung is also very famous.
The French-Cambodian actress, 44, will be familiar to fans of Daredevil, in which she played Elektra Natchios, Fox's The Cleaning Lady, and historic fantasy blockbuster Gods of Egypt.
The fourth season of crime drama The Cleaning Lady recently aired to strong reviews and saw Elodie reprise her lead role of Cambodian surgeon Thony De La Rosa, who puts her skills to use working for a criminal organisation.
Elodie and Jonathan lived together in the US with their six-year-old daughter, before he returned to the UK for the Corrie gig.
Though living apart from his family is tough, Jonathan is also relishing being back on home soil.
He told the Metro: "I left the north of England 20 years ago, when I was 20. I went to do Dream Team in London then I went to drama school for three years.
"I left drama school and managed to work in America and moved to America and I've been in the States for the last 10 years with my wife and I have a daughter over there.
"The only hard thing is being away from them, but at the same time it's a real gift to be back in the north of England."
Many actors have tried to crack Hollywood after getting their break in soapland, but occasionally some go the other way, including Sir Ian McKellen, who realised a lifelong dream when he played Lionel Hipkis in Corrie.
Jonathan is thrilled to be part of the ITV institution and says it's as exciting as starring in huge films like Thor: The Dark World, World War Z, Kingdom and Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
He told The Mirror: "Being in Coronation Street is just as big a thrill as being in a Hollywood film or an American TV series. It's all the same, everyone's telling stories, whether it's a big $200m movie or a soap like Corrie.
"As a Lancashire lad born and raised, the dream was to be in Coronation Street – that was the ceiling, so it feels wonderfully surreal to now be acting with people like Kevin Webster that I watched religiously as a kid.
"I'm staying with my mum and I sleep in my childhood bedroom. It's been really nice to come home – going back to my roots."
Jonathan's arrival in Weatherfield has sparked trouble as he has fallen for cancer-stricken brother Kevin's wife Abi.
The pair flirted up a storm after he attempted to steal her parking space and caused her to prang her car as a result.
Abi's signature temper came to the surface and she shouted at him, revealing Kevin is suffering from cancer.
She lashed out and gave her then unknown brother-in-law a bloody nose, before apologising.
Carl saw the funny side and was quickly taken by Abi's fiery side.

Ray Winstone recalls miserable role in Hollywood blockbuster

British actor Ray Winstone has criticised Marvel, suggesting the dominance of superhero films hinders the production of more "cultural films". Speaking at the Sarajevo Film Festival, Winstone stated the film industry is increasingly focused on ticket sales and actors' social media following rather than meaningful roles. Winstone expressed frustration over having to reshoot "all of" his scenes for Marvel's 2021 film Black Widow. He recalled being told by producers that his performance was "too strong", leading to the extensive reshoots, which he found disheartening. The actor, who played the villain Dreykov in Black Widow, previously described his experience working on the Marvel film as "soul-destroying".

Rock the Crossbar brings musicians and footballers to West Lothian for a great cause

Jonathan and Michael Ward wanted to raise money for the Maggie's Centre in Edinburgh Two brothers brought celebrities from the music and footballing worlds together for an entertaining day of fundraising at two West Lothian venues. ‌ Brothers Jonathan and Michael Ward wanted to raise money for the Maggie's Centre in Edinburgh and came up with the idea of Rock the Crossbar – two linked events – a celebrity football tournament and a concert. ‌ They chose Maggie's in memory of 20-year-old son Jay Schumacher from Livingston who passed away almost a decade ago. Jay's parents, Morris and Claire, run Neo Recruitment, the recruitment partner of Jonathan's own business. ‌ Rock the Crossbar, a play on The Clash's song Rock the Casbah, kicked off with a football tournament at The Volley Park in Armadale featuring former Scotland players Jonathan said: 'We had a 12-team seven-a-side tournament during the day. It was brilliant, what a day. It was a mix of local businesses and celebrities, and four ex-Scotland international players. 'We had Charlie Mulgrew, Kris Boyd, Colin Hendry and Simon Donnelly all playing. Charlie Mulgrew is still an absolute player and took his team to the final. 'The others were good in spells. They were all tremendous and came along and got really involved. 'The Darkness also had a full team with three of the five band members playing. ‌ 'The football was brilliant, the stadium was packed out and it was played in great spirit.' The events are part of a year of fundraising which so far has raised £38,000, including £17,500 from Jonathan's company, Spring Solutions in Bathgate, which provides supply chain solutions for the aerospace industry. ‌ He continued: 'We are doing a whole series of events which started with my wife and I skydiving, and has involved the majority of our team doing a Tough Mudder as well as some individual events. 'A full year of fundraising will finish when my Michael and I take on the London Marathon next year.' Michael is involved in music management and was well placed to handle the logistics of the evening entertainment event, a concert at the Regal Theatre in Bathgate. ‌ 'Michael manages Ben Walker and organised the music side of it,' said Jonathan. 'We had the idea for a football tournament to follow on from the golf day we done, and my Michael just ran with it. He used a lot of his contacts in the music industry and together, though mostly him, and with the help of some very kind volunteers and businesses we pieced together this incredible event. ‌ 'The evening event was on a completely different level to anything I've seen before, the live jam would have been at home on any stage in the world. I couldn't believe this was in our hometown. 'On days like this there are no losers, hundreds of people coming together to have an excellent time, watching amazing entertainment and raising money for a beautiful cause. It was such an honour to play a part in bringing it together. 'We took the guys out from The Darkness for breakfast the next day and about 20 people asked Justin for photos. They had actually played in front of 10,000 people the day before.'

Two Hollywood A-listers join Rivals cast for second series

Hayley Atwell and Rupert Everett join the cast as Emily Atack says she loved playing sexy Sarah Stratton: 'I am her. I'm a flawed woman' When the adaptation of Jilly Cooper's bonkbuster Rivals hit screens last year, it quickly became Disney's best performing TV drama. Now Rupert Everett and Hayley Attwell are to join the cast for the much-anticipated second series, playing lead character Rupert Campbell Black's former showjumping boss and his bitter ex-wife - who are now married to each other. ‌ Atwell, best known for her roles in the Marvel and Mission Impossible films, will be playing Helen Gordon, mother of Rupert's two children, Marcus and Tabitha - who will also appear this time around. ‌ Everett, who starred alongside Julia Roberts in My Best Friend's Wedding, takes on the role of her husband Malise Gordon, Campbell Black's former show-jumping coach and mentor. ‌ In Cooper's original story Helen was treated badly by her ex-husband and remains very bitter towards him after their divorce. She is now married to the former chef d'équipe of the British showjumping team, Malise. Speaking in a session at the Edinburgh TV Festival yesterday where the castings were announced, Emily Atack joked that her character Sarah Stratton, the regularly unfaithful wife of an MP, had not been much of a stretch. 'I had to dig real deep,' she quipped. But the actress, who found fame with hit series The Inbetweeners, said she had no qualms about playing a flawed temptress.. 'I've been typecast my whole life and I've loved every minute," she declared. " I'll carry on playing these sexy women for as long as I can.' Emily said that shooting the infamous naked tennis scene alongside Alex Hassell as Rupert had been great fun. Alex said that many discussions had taken place over whether or not he should wear a prosthetic over his privates for the scene, but in the end he'd decided to go without. ‌ Emily declared that she had had a bit of help for that particular scene. 'I had a stick on muff," she laughed. "A murkin, it's called. A proper 80s bush - I felt like I had furry knickers on. It's so jarring seeing yourself like that.' But the actress said she'd soon got used to it. 'I didn't want to put my clothes back on! I did a couple of cartwheels.' Emily, 35, said part of the appeal of playing Sarah, was that while she is flawed, she also also has vulnerabilities that were recognised. 'These types of women are never written with nuance,' she said. 'I am her, I am a flawed woman, I've made terrible decisions in my love life - so I wasn't scared to identify with her. Her bad behaviour isn't being celebrated, but it's being understood.' ‌ Bella McClean, whose character Taggie O'Hara found love with Rupert in the final episode of series one, revealed she was so pleased with her audition as Taggie - and chemistry with Alex - that she walked straight into a wall afterwards. The actress she had enjoyed playing a character who was so wholesome and good, it had made her take a look at her own life and decisions. She loved the long, simmering build-up to the romance between Taggie and Rupert, saying: 'They see though all the crap and just adore each other for who they are,' she explained. 'It's about their love.' ‌ The show's creator Dominic Treadwell-Collins said that Jilly Cooper had told him early on how she expected the male heroes of her 1980s books to behave. He said: 'She told me 'my men don't cry'. My men are macho.' Dominic added: 'We are utterly thrilled to have Hayley and Rupert join us to play Jilly Cooper's legendary characters Helen and Malise Gordon. Alongside our other new wonderful actors and truly brilliant returning cast, Rivals series two absolutely showcases the best of British and Irish talent. We can't wait for everyone to see what's next for the residents of Rutshire.' Disney boss Lee Mason said he was also thrilled that Everett and Atwell were joining the cast. 'They are a perfect match for the world of Rutshire, so lovingly created by Dame Jilly and the team at Happy Prince.' ‌ Rivals is filming in the UK until February and is expected to return, for an extended season of twelve episodes, later in 2026. Set against the backdrop of the Cotswolds countryside and the glamorous, high-stakes world of 1980s British television, the second run will see the return of the all-star cast including Danny Dyer, Katherine Parkinson, Aidan Turner and David Tennant. Next time around viewers will find that many careers, marriages and reputations hang in the balance as personal and professional lives collide in a world where secrets can't stay hidden for long.
