Julianne Hough speaks about her decision 'to freeze my eggs', endometriosis diagnosis, other challenges

Mint06-07-2025
Washington DC [US], July 6 (ANI): Dancer and singer Julianne Hough, who joined 'Dancing with the Stars' as a professional dancer when she was 18, talked about freezing her eggs for the third time and her endometriosis diagnosis in 2008, reported People.
Hough's decision to undergo her most recent egg-freezing process, her third total, is related a lot to freeing herself from the "psychological fear".
She decided to share her egg-freezing journey on social media in early June. "I wasn't showing it to be like, 'I'm going to make a big statement,' but with the response I got, I realized how important it was," she said, adding, "I found out I have endometriosis when I was 19 or 20, and I wish back then I would've been told to freeze my eggs, but I wasn't told until later on, reported People.
Apart from her endometriosis, "I have some other health implications that might make conceiving challenging, and I got a divorce, and now I'm in a different stage of life," she said. "For me, it's never been about 'I'm not ready,' but I know it is for some people. I think the time will be right when it's right," as per the outlet.
Since undergoing the egg-freezing process for the first time, Hough has noticed her growth. "It ain't easy when you're doing the shots, but I will say this time around, I had a much better understanding of what I needed," she says. "Also, the first time I did it, I didn't do the shots myself. I went in every day, and they did them for me. Then I was like, 'Wait, I feel empowered doing them myself.' Along the way, I was able to call friends who have gone through it at any moment and be like, 'Hey, I feel crazy right now. Can you just come over and sit next to me?" reported People.
Hough started dancing competitively at the age of 9, and she became a household name after winning her first season of DWTS.
She rose to fame while also overcoming challenges, including her endometriosis diagnosis in 2008 and a public split from her ex-husband, Brooks Laich, in 2020.
"Every moment that I've gone through, whether it be painful mistakes, self-sabotaging, or being brave and taking a risk and putting yourself out there, are just part of the journey," she said, adding, "They build character."
She also played Sandy in the live Fox television production of Grease in 2016 and launched her Los Angeles dance and fitness studio KINRGY in 2018.
"Being a founder is one of the hardest things you'll ever do because it's like you have an idea, and then you have to let it go and let it breathe and do its own thing," she shared, "The best compliment I get is when people come up to me and are like, 'Wow, everybody who's here made me feel so welcomed. What you've created here has allowed me to connect to my body and my confidence," reported People. (ANI)

Govt blocks 25 OTT platforms for streaming obscene, vulgar content

ANI The government has ordered the blocking of 25 Over the Top (OTT) platforms for airing obscene content, the information and broadcasting (I&B) ministry said on Friday. The platforms including Ullu, Gulab, Hulchul, MoodX, and Mojflix, among others, have 'obscene, vulgar and in some cases pornographic content', the ministry said in a statement. The action to disable 26 websites and 14 apps have been taken in consultation with the ministries of home affairs, electronics and IT, and women and child development, and will be enforced through the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the IT Rules, 2021. The government finally cracked the whip on the 25 platforms after the I&B ministry had warned all of them back in September last year. Meanwhile, five platforms blocked earlier in March 2024, started publishing obscene content on new website domains, the ministry said. "There was hardly any storyline, theme or message in a social context. A large portion of the content was obscene and vulgar," the statement read. Content on these platforms have fallen foul of multiple sections of IT Act, and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986. "While these sections criminalise the publication and uploading of obscene content, the power to ban or order takedown of offending material online is governed by Section 69A of the IT Act read with Information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking for Access of Information by Public) Rules, 2009," Vikram Jeet Singh, partner at law firm BTG Advaya, said. Singh pointed out this was important, since the government has in the past relied upon Section 79 of the IT Act while ordering content takedowns. In May, the web series 'House Arrest' had been taken down by Ullu after intervention by the I&B inmistry. Ullu had been censured earlier by the Digital Publisher Content Grievances Council, when over 100 web-series were asked to be removed. But after removing them, the OTT had re-uploaded the unedited versions, the ministry said. Elevate your knowledge and leadership skills at a cost cheaper than your daily tea. ICW: 'Kaafi late nahi hogaya,' hilariously says Akshay Kumar as he closes Falguni Shane Peacocks show past his usual bedtime

New Delhi [India], July 26 (ANI): Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar is known for leading a disciplined lifestyle, which mainly includes hitting the bed early and waking up at 4 am in the morning. However, sometimes, due to work commitments, his "early sleep and wake-up routine" gets hampered. Friday night was one of those rare days when Khiladi Kumar stayed up late. He had no qualms about it as he was in his hometown, Delhi, for ace designers Falguni Shane Peacock's special show at India Couture Week 2025. After walking the ramp for the designers, Akshay briefly spoke with media around 11 pm on Friday night, joking about closing the show past his usual bedtime. "Well, thank you very much. Main Hindi mein bolunga. Aap sabhi logo ka bhaut bhaut dhanyawad, jitne bhi yahan log aaye, aur media. (Looking at his watch) Kaafi late nahi ho gaya hai?" Akshay quipped, leaving members of the media in splits. The 'Kesari' star was in full candid mode. When one of the shutterbugs said, "Dilli mein chalta hai sir", Akshay, with a touch of humour, responded, "Tabhi Haal dekh tera." Akshay returned to the runway after many years, but his comeback was definitely worth the wait. Dressed in an ivory bandhgala sherwani, Akshay looked handsome as he exuded desi swag with his showstopper look. His black sunglasses and silver juti elevated his traditional look, echoing with designers' offering Raj Mahal Bijoux - The Palace of Jewels. On making his comeback to runway after 12 years, Akshay expressed, "Actually, after a long time I'm doing this walk, ramp walk. Mujhe yaad hai, aaj se kariban 12 saal pehle, maine phir ek baar ramp walk kiya tha, maine inhi ke saath kiya tha. And it's been an honour doing that." Akshay also lauded designers, models and the entire team for their relentless efforts that go behind conducting one show. He added, "I have enjoyed each and every bit of it. Specially, maine dekha hai ki kitna hard-work jaata hai ek show karne ke liye, organise karne ke liye aur 25 minute ke andar poora ka poora khatam ho jaata hai. Log itna saj dhaj ke aate hain aur 25 minute ke andar poora show khatam ho jaata hai. But, I just want to tell you that Shane and Falguni, the way they present themselves in such an international way, I think they have made India so proud." Meanwhile, on the acting front, Akshay will be seen soon in Priyadarshan's film 'Bhooth Bangla'. He also has 'Haiwaan' and 'Hera Pheri 3' in pipeline with ace director Priyadarshan. (ANI)

'Not drama...': Tanushree Dutta replies to trolls who allege her viral video was a publicity stunt

Please someone help me Tanushree Dutta is in a lot of trouble shared a video crying and said I am confined to my house Tanushree Dutta, the OG MeToo whistleblower, has opened up about the emotional video she recently shared on her social media. In the now-viral clip that she shared on Tuesday, the actress can be seen sobbing and talking about being allegedly 'harassed' inside her home.' I am being harassed in my own house. I just called the cops, and they have asked me to come to the police station to lodge a proper complaint. I will probably go tomorrow or the day after. I am not well. I have been harassed so much in the past five years that I have fallen sick,' she said in the video. Why did Tanushree Dutta make the video? Tanushree has alleged that the video was a result of years of 'pain, stress, and fear she faced over the last five years'. Speaking to ANI, Tanushree said her video was not a stunt or drama, but a real 'emotional response after enduring repeated traumatic events since MeToo allegations in 2018'. 'First of all, I want to say that it was my emotional response,' she said. 'A lot of strange things have happened to me in the last five years. After MeToo, serious and dangerous things started happening around me. It took me time to understand that all of this was actually happening to me,' she said. 'I was in an accident; my brakes failed. There were also attempts to mix something in my food to make me sick. Strange things started happening outside my house too,' Tanushree added. Tanushree Dutta reacted to the trolls When asked if anyone from the film industry reached out to help, she said, 'I don't have any friends. And when all of this started happening to me, the few contacts I had also disappeared.' About people calling her a drama queen after her video, Tanushree said, 'People always say such things. They said I was acting in 2008, they said the same in 2018. And who are these people anyway?' She also responded to the accusations that her viral video was a publicity stunt saying, 'There are many ways to go viral. I don't need to do all this. I am Tanushree Dutta. Miss India Universe,' she first gained fame when she won the Femina Miss India Universe title in later acted in popular films like Aashiq Banaya Apne, Dhol, and Bhagam Bhag.
