Rs25bn allocated to provide relief through solarisation: minister
Speaking to journalists at the media corner of the Sindh Assembly, Nasir Shah said that it is Chairman Bilawal Bhutto's vision to provide affordable and free electricity to the people of Sindh.
He emphasised that the government is actively working on providing solar panels and implementing solarisation projects, especially for the underprivileged and impoverished communities across the province. The Sindh Energy department is pursuing this effort with full commitment and as a top priority.
The minister for Energy and Planning further added that the block budget allocated in the financial plan will be used to implement various public welfare initiatives. Nasir Shah also stated that the ruling party has enough majority in the Assembly and does not need support or votes from others to pass the budget.
Commenting on the budget session, he criticised the opposition for disrupting Chief Minister Sindh's speech by approaching the CM's desk, which he described as inappropriate. Despite prior discussions and agreed speaking times with opposition members, such behavior was unjustified. He emphasized that leadership should not be targeted, and the opposition had earlier agreed on this principle.
He further stated that elected members of the Assembly are the voice of the people, and through block allocations, schemes based on their suggestions will be included in the budget. Nasir Shah termed the opposition's protest in the assembly as unconventional. He also accused the opposition leader of misrepresenting facts, stating that Ali Khurshidi came to Faryal Talpur, who pointed out that their approach was improper.
Nasir Shah reiterated that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) serves all communities across Sindh without any discrimination based on race or ethnicity. He added that the people have recognized the PPP's service through their continued support. Special attention is being given to the development of Karachi.

CM for comprehensive plan to support wheat farmers
LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed the authorities concerned to start a comprehensive plan to support wheat farmers in order to increase production of wheat. She also directed them to take necessary measures to reduce cost of agricultural inputs before wheat sowing in Punjab. She further directed them to ensure abundant availability of fertilizer before wheat sowing. She said, 'Targeted subsidy should be given to small wheat farmers in relief.' She was briefed in detail by the relevant authorities, 'Timely sowing of wheat is essential for better production in Punjab.' She was also apprised, 'A total of Rs 63 billion subsidy was given to farmers in Punjab during two months, and farmers obtained interest-free loans of Rs 50 billion through Kisan Card.' The CM noted, 'A subsidy of Rs 13 billion was given under the Chief Minister's Wheat Support Program, and the use of fertilizers, especially DAP, has increased in Punjab due to Kisan Card Project.' Ecnec approves 100MW solar power project for Gilgit Baltistan
GILGIT: Executive Committee of the National Economic Council has approved a one hundred megawatt solar photovoltaic power project for Gilgit Baltistan. Following Ecnec's approval, formal work on the project will commence. During his recent visit to Gilgit, the Prime Minister had announced that Ecnec would soon approve the 100-megawatt power plants for Gilgit-Baltistan. Central Development Working Party has already approved the project. This project will benefit the districts of Astore, Darel, Tangir, Diamer, Ghanche, Ghizer, Gilgit, Hunza, Ishkoman, Nagar, Roundu, Skardu and Shigar. Govt plans to set up 100MW solar project in GB In the first phase, Skardu district will be provided with 18.958 megawatts of electricity. In the second phase, the districts of Hunza, Gilgit and Diamer will be supplied with 6.005 megawatts, 28.013 megawatts and 13.126 megawatts of electricity respectively. In the third phase, the remaining districts will receive 16.096 megawatts of electricity. The project is set to be completed within three years at a total cost of Rs 24,957 million.

Sherry Rehman condemns India's ban on Kashmiri literature
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Vice President and Senator Sherry Rehman on Saturday condemned the Indian government's ban on Kashmiri historical and resistance literature, terming it 'the worst example of fascism.' In a statement, Rehman said the move was a direct attack on the intellectual freedom of Kashmiris and reflected what she described as India's undemocratic ambitions. She remarked that suppressing history does not erase facts and that silencing free expression exposed 'fascist tendencies.' The PPP leader alleged that New Delhi's policies were pushing Kashmiri youth into 'intellectual slavery' and that such bans were damaging India's global reputation. She added that every attempt to suppress the truth has failed in history, and 'India will fail too,' asserting that confiscating books was an attempt to erase Kashmiri identity, which could not be achieved through bans. The raids came after the government accused the writers of propagating "false narratives" about Kashmir, "while playing a critical role in misguiding the youth" against the Indian state. "The operation targeted materials promoting secessionist ideologies or glorifying terrorism," police said in a social media statement. "Public cooperation is solicited to uphold peace and integrity," it said. Authorities also seized Islamic literature from bookshops and homes after a similar directive in February.
