MAFS expert John Aiken breaks silence on cast being snubbed from Logies and why the reality juggernaut will never win TV's top gong
Speaking to Daily Mail Australia ahead of Sunday night's Logie Awards, expert John Aiken admitted that despite dominating the ratings every year, the reality series has never been recognised with a win on Australian TV's night of nights.
'We have never won anything at the Logies,' Aiken admitted.
'But we're pretty happy with the ratings that we have. At the end of the day it all comes down to who's prepared to vote.
'The shows that win usually have people who get online and vote. With MAFS, while we have a lot of committed viewers, they don't seem to vote.'

Aiken said the team does not measure success by trophies.
'We don't do it to get a Logie, we do it because it's fun, it's exciting and a lot of people watch it. The real prize is the huge audience engagement we get every year,' he said.
This year, like in the past, many MAFS cast members have been left off the official Logies guest list, something Aiken says is out of everyone's hands.
'It's a privilege to be invited, but it's completely out of my hands and out of the hands of the talent. Every year people are going to miss out, but you have no control over it,' he explained.
And even if the show did win a Logie, Aiken joked it would be risky to let some of the brides or grooms accept the award.
'You'd have no idea what they're going to say,' he said with a laugh.
'They're very brave people who put themselves out there and I'm grateful to them for doing the show, but you never know what they'll do once filming wraps.'
Aiken says that while the Logies may elude them, the show's reach is undeniable.
'It's now in its 13th season and it just keeps growing. It's sold into over 120 countries and it's consistently high in the ratings here. We keep putting out a high-quality product that people respond to,' John said.
The social media ripple effect is also huge.
'TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat - it's all part of the cast's life now. Even if they don't get to go to the Logies they still get big opportunities in the media afterwards,' he said.
Aiken says the show is polarising and that is exactly why it works.
'People either love it or hate it, but no one feels lukewarm. If it gets people talking, frustrated, cheering or angry, we're doing something right.'
As for Sunday's Logies, Aiken is expecting a ribbing.
'I'll cop a little serve from all sorts of people. But you've got to have a thick skin and be able to laugh at yourself in this industry,' he said.
With filming on the new season underway, Aiken teased that viewers can expect a fiery group of women leading the charge.
'We've got a cast full of very powerful, opinionated, outspoken women who will hold everyone to account. Some also have a heavy TikTok flavour to their dating approach which is very entertaining,' John explained.
He says the cast is unlike anything we have seen before, with fresh cultural diversity, a sports presenter who loves cricket, and personalities who break the mould of previous seasons.
Fans can also expect Aiken to continue his no-nonsense approach at the dinner parties.
'My role is clear now. I call out bad behaviour and hold people to account,' he said.
'Over the last few seasons I've become more direct and blunt because sometimes the behaviour is more extreme. People at home learn from that too.'
Aiken also weighed in on some of last season's breakout stars – and why they became household names.
'Eliot Donovan was such an interesting journey. He came in polarising, had some ups and downs, but by the end people could see a different side of him. That redemption arc is rare on reality TV and it made people lean in,' Aiken said.
Aiken meanwhile praised fellow bride Jamie Marinos, calling her 'a total breath of fresh air'.
'Jamie was bubbly, funny and had that unfiltered way of speaking her mind that you just cannot script,' he said.
'People loved her energy and it translated into huge social media engagement.'
He added that these big personalities are exactly why MAFS continues to dominate the cultural conversation.
'They're authentic. Sometimes that makes them controversial, but it also makes them relatable. Whether people are cheering for them or against them, they're watching.'
Voting is now open for all awards and will remain open until 7pm AEST, Friday, August 1.

In a first-look at tonight's instalment, it would appear they are still feuding. Speaking to Conor, Meg shares: "I'm not just gonna stand there. He's put Yas on a board again. "I take so much heat from these three girls. You've put on a board that you would recouple with Yas." Conor then interjected, saying Dejon "may have taken the question too literal". Meg added: "It's a challenge, I don't care about it. Love Island fans 'work out' why Dejon turned on Meg as villa's strongest couple hit the rocks days before final "At the end of the day, we're boyfriend and girlfriend. It doesn't matter." Dejon then approached, remarking: "You're going to stop talking as I'm walking past?" Hearing this, Meg repeated to her boyfriend what she'd just told Conor. Love Island USA star Huda Mustafa debuts new Too Hot To Handle boyfriend on red carpet
Love Island USA star Huda Mustafa debuted her romance with Too Hot to Handle 's Louis Russell on Thursday. The two reality TV stars made their relationship official as they attended the Los Angeles premiere of Weapons together, walking the red carpet hand-in-hand. Huda, 24, was rumored to be dating Louis after they were spotted together just days after she returned from filming the Love Island season seven finale in Fiji. In the villa, Huda was first romantically linked to Jeremiah Brown before a fan vote split them up in what fans are calling one of the most toxic seasons yet. He was recoupled with bombshell Iris Kendall while Huda was left single and vulnerable on the island. She later found a connection in Casa Amor, first with JD Dodard and then with Chris Seeley. She ended up coupling up with Chris and brought him back to the villa. However, Huda and Chris ended up breaking up in the finale episode when they decided to go their separate ways on their final date. Less than a week after leaving the villa and returning home, the single mother-of-one was seen with Louis. Weeks later, the pair seemingly confirmed their romance as they made their red carpet debut. For the special occasion, the fitness influencer and the semi-pro footballer coordinated in matching, head-to-toe black outfits. Huda showcased her fit physique in a skintight, off-the-shoulder gown with long-sleeves and a semi-sheer lace design. She styled her long, raven black hair in beach waves that cascaded down her back. The Too Hot to Handle star wore a handsome, black suit to match Huda's gown. Louis layered a scoop-neck shirt underneath his blazer and accessorized with a chic, leather belt. Danica Patrick weighs in on Sydney Sweeney's 'anti-woke' American Eagle ad after furious backlash
Motorsports legend Danica Patrick has entered the fray on Sydney Sweeney 's controversial American Eagle ad, not sure why people are upset with the brand's latest campaign. Last week, the company rolled out its fall commercial lineup featuring the 27-year-old in various poses and scenarios with the tagline, 'Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans'. The obvious reference to her 'genes' didn't sit well with many people on social media, who accused the ads of being a racial dog whistle. Patrick was not in that camp, months after she was on the campaign trail helping Donald Trump get back to the White House. 'Can anyone tell me what's wrong with the new AE ads?! Very confused,' Patrick posted on her Instagram story. Sweeney's ad is still in the public eye with billboards and in storefronts nationwide despite the backlash. American Eagle Chief Marketing Officer Craig Brommers said the campaign is designed to be flashier than competitors' and features Sweeney as one of the most recognizable young stars of the moment Patrick is not the only one to come to Sweeney's aid in the situation, as WWE legend Sgt. Slaughter posted to his X account earlier this week of the 'Euphoria' actress: 'Attention (Sydney Sweeney), YOU GO GIRL & That's An Order!!' Slaughter, born Robert Remus, is a former WWF Heavyweight Champion and wrestled from 1972 to 2014. Last Friday, the 76-year-old made an appearance on SmackDown during a tribute to the late Hulk Hogan, who died last week of a heart attack. While Remus has made it known that he's in Sweeney's corner, much of the internet is still debating the intent behind the advertisement. ESPN analyst David Dennis Jr took to social media, posting his opinion: 'I didn't think anything of the Sydney Sweeney ads. 'But then ACTUAL SCHOLARS ON MESSAGING, EUGENICS AND FASCISM explained what was going on then yes I understood and became pretty mortified because hey sometimes IT'S GOOD TO LISTEN TO EXPERTS'. In a sarcastic post, Dennis Jr continued: 'I'm just happy that these AE ads are making it safe for conventionally attractive blue eyed blonde women to be accepted by society again. They're no longer the scourges of society they once were! FINALLY!' The adverts have divided fans, with one critic calling the clip 'one of the loudest and most obvious racialized dog whistles we've seen and heard in a while.' ESPN analyst David Dennis Jr has lashed out at Sydney Sweeney's controversial advert An article from Salon on the backlash noted that the phrase 'great genes' is 'historically used to celebrate whiteness, thinness and attractiveness' while also branding the campaign 'tone-deaf'. But Alexandria Hurley, a Las Vegas-based publicist, speculated to that the idea to stir the pot was not a mistake at all. 'From a PR perspective, what we're seeing from Sydney Sweeney isn't a 'misstep' or 'Pepsi moment.' It's a calculated brand evolution. The idea that this ad slipped through the cracks underestimates both her and her team,' she explained.
