
Retro Box Office Collection Day 9: Suriya's movie screenings reduced as it sees no improvement, mints THIS amount
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Retro earned ₹ 1.06 crore from morning, afternoon and evening shows on day 8. While the earnings of the night shows will boost the business, so far, the film saw a dip of approximately 41.76% in earnings from Thursday to Friday.
The total earnings of Retro now stand at ₹ 53.83.

The Suriya-starrer saw an overall 16.43% occupancy among the Tamil audience on Friday. Its Telugu version recorded an overall 9.26% occupancy on Friday.
The screenings of the film have been drastically reduced across Tamil Nadu and Telangana. While the film continued to perform relatively well in Tamil circuits, Chennai has slashed nearly 50% of Retro's shows. On the other hand, Hyderabad, which was among the highest number of shows and occupancy for Retro, now has only 28 screenings available for Retro. Similarly, Vizag-Visakhapatnam recorded 28 Retro shows.
Chennai currently has 295 shows of Retro, while Bengaluru, Madurai, and Coimbatore have recorded 142, 119, and 115 screenings, respectively. The overall screening count has seen a sharp decline when compared to previous days.
Retro is directed by Karthik Subbaraj. It is produced by 2D Entertainment and Stone Bench Films.
It is the first collaboration between Suriya and Subbaraj.
Retro stars Suriya as the local gangster while Pooja Hegde plays his love interest in the film.
It also features Jayaram, Joju George, Karunakaran, Nassar, and Prakash Raj in prominent roles. Actor Shriya Saran also makes a special cameo.
The film revolves around a reformed gangster who is determined to honour a promise to his wife and live a quiet life. However, it is not that easy for him as his past resurfaces, threatening the peace he has fought to build.
The film was released on May 1, on Labour Day. It majorly clashed with actor Nani's latest release HIT 3, which was also released on the same date, in Tamil and Telugu languages.

Actor Madhan Bob passes away
Actor, comedian and musician Madhan Bob passed away at his residence at Adyar on Saturday evening. He had been ailing for sometime. He was 71. Kingdom box office collection day 3: Telugu star Vijay Deverakonda is garnering praise for his performance in his recent release, Kingdom. The spy-action drama was released in theatres on July 31 after several delays. The film opened to a decent start, and despite seeing a drop on the second day, it held well on the first Saturday. The film is now inching closer to beating the domestic collection of Vijay's film Liger ( ₹41 crore), which marked his grand debut in Bollywood alongside Ananya Panday. The film had an overall 41.54% Telugu occupancy on Saturday, with 31.25% in morning shows, 46.31% in afternoon shows, and 47.06% in evening shows. The film is competing with Pawan Kalyan's Hari Hara Veera Mallu at the box office. About Kingdom Kingdom centres around Suri (played by Vijay Deverakonda), a modest, loyal police officer who turns spy to take on a covert mission in Sri Lanka. The mission involves him locating and rescuing his estranged brother Siva (played by Satyadev), who is now the head of a smuggling syndicate. The film also stars Bhagyashri Borse as the female lead. The film ended on a cliffhanger to create the base for the sequel, which the film's producer, Nag Vamsi, announced at a post-release press meet. While Vijay's performance has been appreciated by the audience, several viewers were disappointed by the second half of the screenplay. Helmed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, the film collected ₹39 crore worldwide at the box office on opening day, making it Vijay's personal best so far.
