Mr Stewart began working for the force in September 2018 and was an officer in North Cumbria and Carlisle. His last day was in June 2024.
"The former officer's behaviour in sending sexually explicit messages which were not requested and, on occasion, were sent while on duty, was unacceptable and amounted to discreditable conduct," Mr Carden said."Such behaviour from police officers brings discredit to the police as a whole and risks a loss of confidence in the police service."He added Mr Stewart's actions "are not a reflection of the way the overwhelming majority of our officers conduct themselves".The result of the hearing means Mr Stewart is placed on the national barred list, preventing him from becoming a police officer elsewhere.

A football steward has won an £8,000 payout after he was wrongly sacked for sending memes about politicians under his club's 'Orwellian' disciplinary policy. Gennaro Romano, 49, was sacked by Norwich City Football Club in October 2023 after sending mocked-up images of Diane Abbott and Nicola Sturgeon alongside comments about Russell Brand to the head of the academy. The steward, who had a 12-year unblemished record, apologised and said he forwarded the WhatsApp messages by accident, an employment tribunal was told. The championship club sacked him for breaching its disciplinary policies, a decision described as 'riddled with unfairness'. A Norwich employment tribunal heard Mr Romano had been working as a steward on matchdays since 2011 alongside his main job with Royal Mail. In September 2023, he was accused of sending 'messages of an inappropriate nature' to Neil Hunter, head of the Canaries' academy operations. The photos were of former Scottish first minister Nicola Sturgeon and MP Diane Abbott with captions about actor Russell Brand. 'This was at the time when the media was reporting that allegations of sexual assault were being made against Russell Brand,' the tribunal said. At a meeting with the club, he was shown a screen shot of two images received by Mr Hunter. Mr Romano claimed he had meant to send the photos to a friend who is also called Neil, but had forwarded them to his colleague by accident, the tribunal heard. The Carrow Road steward admitted the pictures were 'not nice', and apologised a number of times throughout the process, the tribunal was told. But club managers decided that he had not shown 'sufficient understanding or remorse', and sacked him. Upholding Mr Romano's claim, the tribunal said the club's decision-making process had been 'riddled with unfairness'. 'It was not one which any reasonable employer would have taken,' it added. Describing the club's actions, the tribunal said: 'If the club intends its disciplinary policy to have such an extensive, some might say Orwellian, reach, then it is incumbent on it to make that position clear.' The tribunal awarded Mr Romano £8,300. His claim of race discrimination was dismissed.

"The incident is reported to have taken place at around 2pm. Dyfed Powys Police have been asked to comment on the Solva theft." Elsewhere, a group of greedy guzzlers ordered £390 worth of steaks and carbonara refused to pay. CCTV footage showed the disgraceful party of men, women and kids gorge on their feast at La Banca Italian restaurant in Selsey, West Sussex, before fleeing. Plus, two men stuffed their faces with over £110 worth of food before fleeing a Vietnamese restaurant in a "perfect plan". They guzzled beer and gorged on spicy beef pho, rice and noodles for two hours at Viet80s in Nottingham. DINE-AND-DASH LAW EXPLAINED If a customer or group 'dine-and-dash', they could be charged under section 3 of the 1978 Theft Act. This deals with people who eat out and leave without paying. It is considered theft if there is a failure to pay when it is known that payment is required for goods or services. The offence can carry a prison sentence of up to two years

Milford Haven man caught with cocaine and amphetamine
David Daley, 44, of Milton Crescent, appeared in the dock at Haverfordwest Magistrates' Court accused of three offences. It was alleged that he was in possession of two grams of cocaine and 2.38 grams of amphetamine in Haverfordwest on July 9. Daley pleaded guilty to all three offences, and was sentenced to an 18-month community order. As part of this, he must complete a nine-month drug rehabilitation programme and 15 rehabilitation activity requirement days. At the hearing on August 5, he was also ordered to pay £85 in costs.
