Shakira cancels Boston concert hours before showtime

Yahoo29-05-2025
Shakira has abruptly cancelled her 29 May concert at Boston's Fenway Park - a stop on her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour.
Leading up to the show, the Hips Don't Lie singer shared Instagram Story posts expressing her excitement and teasing appearances from Will.i.am and Wyclef Jean.
But just hours before doors opened for the show, ticket seller Live Nation announced that the event had been cancelled.
The Jason Aldean and Brooks & Dunn concert scheduled at the same venue on Friday has also been cancelled
"Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Shakira and Jason Aldean and Brooks & Dunn performances originally scheduled for 29 May and 30 May respectively at Fenway Park have been cancelled," the Live Nation statement read.
"Refunds will be available at your point of purchase. We apologise for the inconvenience."
Fenway Concerts posted the same statement on social media.
According to Boston's 7News, sources claimed that the concerts were cancelled following an inspection from the City. The inspectional services department reportedly spotted a safety concern when preparing to sign off on the stage structure.
Shakira will next play in Washington DC on Saturday night. Her tour continues through North America before heading to Mexico in August.

Jenna Ortega Debuts Dramatic Footlong Extensions During ‘Wednesday' Press Tour

Jenna Ortega made her latest 'Wednesday' press tour appearance on 'Good Morning America' in New York City on Monday, tucking lengthy hair extensions under a wide-brimmed porkpie hat. The 22-year-old actress, who's set to return as Wednesday Addams in the upcoming season of the Netflix original series on Wednesday, juxtaposed her bleached eyebrows with the dark hair for a whimsical yet chic beauty aesthetic. Meanwhile, her elongated top hat acted as a shield for the left side of her face; her eyes just barely visible under blacked-out Dezi Sly sunglasses. Her entire ensemble — white pocket square, UNOde50 ring, Bohomoon Criss Cross hoop earrings, platform Louboutins and all — was styled by her longtime collaborator, Enrique Melendez. Because most of her face was covered, Ortega wore minimal makeup. A light bronzer contoured her face just under cheekbones, while a rosy hue lines her otherwise naked lips. Her nails were kept short and bare, both popular style choices this summer. With her back to the cameras and the dramatic hair brushed down her back, Ortega was unrecognizable, a mystery woman in the morning. Last week, the 'Beetlejuice Beetlejuice' star flipflopped between the added inches and her typical short, messy waves. For the London premiere of 'Wednesday,' she knotted the extensions halfway down her low ponytail as if she'd attached them down there. The hairstyle, however, did well to keep the attention on her face, where she brought life into the 'tired girl' makeup trend with misty plum shadow hollowing out her eyes and a spooky, bold hue dressing her lips. Honoring her television takeover of the fictional Wednesday Addams, Ortega and her glam team have been playing with earth tones, mostly brown, gray and mulberry. In the show, her character favors an even more exaggerated aesthetic, teaming her love for torture with inky black braids and charcoal eyeshadow under her eyes. This makeup has since inspired the 'tired girl' beauty trend online, ending the 'clean girl' reign ahead of fall. Shakira Leads Mermaid Waves Summer Hair Trend at the ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran' World Tour

Shakira shook more than just her hips on Monday night at her 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran' world tour stop in Los Angeles; she whipped her strawberry blond hair, too. Continuing the North American leg of the concert series, the 48-year-old Colombian singer, born Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, took the SoFi Stadium stage with mermaid waves in keeping with the Mod summer hair trends. Her roots added volume to the otherwise elongated style, allowing her dark underlayers to shine through the lighter parts of her hair coloring. Though the style wasn't anything new for the 'Waka Waka' performer, the choice felt particularly appropriate given the current obsession with mermaid waves and the three-barrel wave tools going viral online now. A simple search for 'waver' on TikTok will generate more than 30,000 videos of influencers, stylists and hair enthusiasts alike using the hot tool to create the aquatic-inspired look. On the red carpet, several stars have sported the textured style such as Cazzie David, Sarah Jessica Parker, Ariana Madix and Kate Hudson. Some have combined the waves with other reemerging fads like the side part and the wet hair look. Shakira has been a leader of the intentionally messy aesthetic for years. Indeed, the curls have matured as she has. In 2005, Shakira's muddy blond hair was kept short; the ripples taking the shape of coils, teased and tossed about. Here, her hair bore a natural finish as if she'd let it air dry after the shower. Now, Shakira's waves appear structured and intact; however, she's come to favor a blowout aesthetic, too. Celebrating the release of her new hair care brand, Isima, which officially went on the market back in June, the music artist spoke with WWD about the role her hair has played in the formation of her persona through her many eras, on and off the stage. 'My hair has been my identity for a long time. My entire life I've felt that way, and I've had a love-hate relationship with my hair,' she said. 'I love it because I need it, but I also hate it when it makes me suffer.' Isima launched with eight products: The Reset Clarifying Shampoo, Iconic Densifying Scalp Serum, Delicia Reparative Hair Oil, Curls Don't Lie Curl Perfector, All In Restorative Leave-In Conditioner, Riquísima Hydrating Shampoo, Suavísima Hydrating Conditioner and Súperbomba Triple Repair Peptide Mask. 'I want it to be inspiring for other women,' Shakira told WWD. 'I want it to be empowering for women, I want my community to feel that finally they don't have to be underserved, and I don't think the old saying of 'less is more' is true for hair care,' she said. 'More is more with hair. Mine always needs more, right? That's the whole thing, the whole back-and-forth with the Isima team.'
