McDonald's just launched new breakfast menu and brought back a 'legendary' item

Metro07-05-2025

Among fast food fans, McDonald's breakfast is considered 'elite' – especially the McMuffins and Hash Browns.
But it seems for some, it might have just become even more appealing to kickstart the day with a Maccies, as the chain has just launched something exciting.
McDonald's has dropped its first ever Breakfast Saver Menu, with prices starting from just 79p.
There is, however, a bit of a catch… it's not going to be available for everyone just yet.
Launching as part of a trial from May 7, the Breakfast Saver Menu will initially only be available in 332 restaurants across the North.
It features a brand new Sausage Sandwich, as well as a Saver Bacon Roll, priced at £1.99 and £2.19 respectively.
The menu also includes fan-favourites like the Cheesy Bacon Flatbread (£1.99), Porridge (£1.69), Apple Slices (79p), Hash Browns (£1.59 each) and refreshing Tropicana Orange and Apple Juice (£1.89) – so there's something for everyone.
If this weren't enough, in select locations across the region, McDonald's is offering a Breakfast Bundle Deal where people can nab a Sausage Sandwich or a Saver Bacon Roll with a selected drink (including coffees) for just £2.99.
The menu will only be available for a short period of time, before hopefully returning and launching more broadly across the UK later this year.
And the new menu isn't the only change happening at McDonald's this month. It comes after the chain recently announced what new and returning items would be joining the menu for May.
For six weeks, the 'legendary' Biscoff McFlurry will be back as well as the Biscoff Frappe.
If you'd prefer a fruity drink, don't worry as McDonald's has you covered with this too. That's because a brand new Frozen Cherry Lemonade is launching, which McDonald's claim is the 'perfect refreshing drink to take on a sunny stroll with'. More Trending
It's not all sweet stuff though, as you might have already heard the McSpicy x Frank's RedHot is making an epic comeback – this is Maccies' spiciest burger ever and is a chicken burger with a crispy coating, topped with lettuce, Emmental cheese, jalapeños, slivered onions and Frank's RedHot Mayo.
For those who love a bit of spice, the mayo is also going to be available to order on its own as a dip for the first time ever, so you can turn up the heat with your favourite burger or McNuggets, or just dunk your fries.
And finally beef burger lovers can rejoice as the Steakhouse Stack is also returning from May 7.

The stack features two beef patties, cheddar cheese, crispy onions, red onions, lettuce and a savoury black peppercorn sauce, all served in a toasted, glazed sesame bun.

Gird your loins, McDonald's fans: the Snack Wrap is back this summer

McDonald's fans have been very busy in the past ten years—ever since the beloved Snack Wrap was discontinued in 2016, diners have been asking the world-famous fast-food chain to bring back the treat. McD's devotees have desperately taken to social media and even created a petition that garnered almost 19,000 signatures in an effort to see the wrap on the menu again. And now those Snack Wrap dreams are coming true: the fan-favorite menu item is officially returning to participating McDonald's restaurants on Thursday, July 10. For those who aren't familiar, the Snack Wrap is a soft flour tortilla holding McCrispy strips—all-white-meat chicken strips that are breaded and fried—topped with lettuce, a mix of cheddar jack and Monterey Jack cheeses and your choice of sauce (ranch, honey mustard or salsa roja). The roll-up comes in two flavors: The spicy version has a touch of habanero pepper, a flavor aficionados might recognize from the Spicy McCrispy sandwich already on the menu, while the ranch option has those classic hints of garlic and onion. The Snack Wrap was phased out nationally in 2016, and now as we hit summer 2025 and its blistering temperatures, we have a chance to eat the chain's sole menu item that isn't hot (other than the desserts and beverages). It's a healthier option than many on the menu, coming in at less than 300 calories. And, as folks who created the petition point out, it's the perfect snack for a road trip because you can hold it in one hand and drive with the other.

Youngest Omaze winner puts her £3,000,000 house up for sale — for £2,500,000

For the price of just a £10 raffle ticket, winners of the Omaze Million Pound House Draw walk away with a dream home, complete with bougie interiors, and absolutely no mortgage stress attached. Each new owner has the choice to move in, rent, or sell up, with the majoritychoosing to put their house on the market, and become an instant cash millionaire. Lauren Keene, the youngest winner at just 24, is no different. Back in December, she won a Wirral property, valued at more than £3,000,000. Now, less than six months later, she's selling up her six-bed James-Bond style mansion — but for just £2,500,000, half a million less than it's previous valuation. When Lauren, a nanny, found out about her win, she was on her way to grab a trusty McDonald's drive-through meal. As she was pondering her options, her phone rang – Omaze was on the other end of the line to tell her that she'd won. The FCA does not regulate most Buy to Let mortgages. Your home or property may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage. 'I was sceptical — and hungry — but went straight home to see what I'd won,' Lauren, who is from Gloucester, said at the time. Afterwards, she joked that she wasn't fussed about missing her regular post-work snack as 'missing that Maccies' made her a 'multi-millionaire.' Although she did later pick up a 'very, very happy meal'. A few days after finding out about the life-changing win, Lauren and her partner Ryan Mitchell, 25, a software engineer, celebrated his birthday in style. She joked that the house was his 'birthday and Christmas present combined.' The couple – who have been together since they were 18 – had been saving relentlessly to buy a place of their own, with Lauren still living in a two-bedroom flat with her dad. Lauren's home (called Rock Mount) spans 4,750 square feet and was even nominated for the RIBA Mansell House of the Year. It draws on inspiration from the American West Coast and mid-century modern styles – and certainly wouldn't look out of place in LA, either. The interiors certainly don't skip on the details, complete with a state-of-the-art cinema room, double garage, and even a sunken sofa. Outside, there's a heated swimming pool, paired with a huge terrace and multiple full-width balconies overlooking the space. Perfect for hot girl summer, right? CEO of Yopa Estate Agents, Verona Frankish, tells Metro that the postcode where the Omaze home is located, CH48, has actually seen a 10% increase in property prices since December 2024. In her view, the reduced value 'hasn't been driven by a decline in local property values' — but it's important to consider that housing stock in the area is 'rather slim.' 'Homes priced at £1,000,000 or more account for just 16% of the total homes for sale, while homes valued at £2,500,000 or more account for just 4%,' Verona explains. 'So the likelihood is that the pool of potential buyers will be limited, and when you also consider that the design of this particular property is a little more contemporary than the more traditional aesthetic of other prime properties in the area, it might not hold the same degree of appeal.' However, she adds that winning a £3,000,000 property for a 'few pounds' means that a reduction is, of course, 'easier to stomach. You're essentially 'making £2,500,000, rather than losing £500,000.' Naturally, homes of this value aren't for the average prospective homeowner, as it massively exceeds the typical rate across the UK, which data from Zoopla places at £268,250. In terms of the types of buyers the home might attract, Verona reckons it'll catch the eye of people with 'deep enough pockets' – but believes it's 'probably more suited to a younger buyer due to its style.' She sees it as a 'beautifully unique property with a wealth of attractive features,' and notes that it's a 'relative steal, providing very good value for money to whoever does take it on.' Of the 37 winners, many chose to sell their properties. The Dorset home – which was won by 60-year-old father-of-three Chris Milnes – is currently on the market for £2,100,000. In June 2024, when he won the property, it was valued at £2,500,000. When he first found out, he hadn't even told his family that he'd entered the draw – so naturally, they were 'speechless.' Having spent most of his childhood in a council flat in Leeds, Chris always intended to sell up and cash in to unlock a new life as a multi-millionaire. He said he wanted to give his 'children the start in life I never had.' Meanwhile, the Surrey home – originally valued at £3,000,000 and won by 54-year-old Rachael Reid from Inverness in July 2024 – is currently on the market for £2,750,000. More Trending When Rachael first received the call, she thought a family member was playing a joke on her. She never expected her life to change forever. But for now, Rachael loves where she lives – which is why the family have decided to cash in and pocket the money so that they can buy an 'amazing home' closer to their family and friends in Scotland. 'The money from the sale will change everything for the entire family – it's just incredible – we're all so excited for the future – we might even build our very own Omazing house!' Rachael said at the time. 'Entering Omaze was the best decision I ever made – I wish anyone who enters the best of luck, if it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone.' McDonald's adding five items to menu including 'iconic' Big Arch burger

The burger is made with two British and Irish beef patties, topped with cheddar cheese slices, crispy onions, fresh onions, lettuce, pickles and signature Big Arch sauce McDonald's has announced five new items will be added to its menu from next week - including the Big Arch burger, which is finally making its UK debut. The burger, which has been on sale before in Canada, Portugal and Germany, is made with two British and Irish beef patties, topped with white cheddar cheese slices, crispy onions, fresh onions, shredded lettuce, crunchy pickles, and smothered in signature Big Arch sauce. ‌ It'll join the McDonald's UK menu on June 18, with the burger on its own priced at £7.99, or £9.99 for a medium meal with a side and drink. Thomas O'Neill, Head of Menu at McDonald's UK&I, said: 'A new iconic burger needs an equally iconic sauce, and we've taken it up a notch with the Big Arch. This isn't just about size, it's about flavour. ‌ 'With double layers of beef, crispy onions, and the hero of the build, our signature sauce, every bite is crafted to hit the spot to satisfy serious McDonald's hunger. Big, bold, and packed with serious deliciousness.' If you're craving a comeback, the Cheesy McCrispy and Halloumi Fries will also be returning on June 18. The Cheesy McCrispy features a chicken breast fillet in a crispy coating, served with lettuce, crispy onions, pink pickled onion chutney, bacon, Emmental cheese, and deluxe cheese sauce. Meanwhile, the Halloumi Fries are golden sticks of Halloumi cheese in a light batter coating, served with Sweet Chilli Dip. For pudding, the much-loved Toffee and Apple Pie is also returning, alongside the Toffee Crisp McFlurry. The Toffee and Apple Pie features a crispy pastry filled with toffee flavour, while the Toffee Crisp McFlurry is made of soft dairy ice cream swirled with Toffee Crisp pieces, topped with toffee sauce. ‌ But of course, a new menu shake-up does mean that some items will be leaving McDonald's next week. This includes the McSpicy x Frank's RedHot, Steakhouse Stack, Cheesy Garlic Bread Dippers and Lotus Biscoff McFlurry. The McSpicy X Frank's RedHot contains a chicken breast in a hot and crispy coating, topped with lettuce, cheese made with Emmental, jalapenos, slivered onions, and Frank's RedHot Mayo. The Steakhouse Stack consists of two beef patties, topped with cheddar cheese, crispy onions, red onions, and fresh lettuce, all drizzled with a savoury black peppercorn sauce. Meanwhile, the Biscoff McFlurry features a Biscoff biscuit crumb swirled into soft serve ice cream, and the Cheesy Garlic Bread Dippers are made up mozzarella cheese flavoured with garlic and chives, in a ciabatta-style breadcrumb coating, served with rich tomato dip.
