Mukesh Kumar Singh's Vishnu Manchu-starrer Kannappa was released in theatres this Friday. Talking to the press in Hyderabad on Saturday, the actor spoke about the potential for another film based on the lore. Vishnu was asked at the press meet if it was possible for another film to be made based on the lore of Kannappa, and the actor surprised everyone by admitting that a prequel could potentially be made. 'A really good director…one of the leading directors today called me yesterday and asked me if I would be open to doing a prequel. I laughed because he said let's explore more of Kannappa as an atheist if you're interested. I was like, why not? We laughed about it because this film can have a prequel at best, but not a sequel,' explained Vishnu.
Vishnu also revealed at the press meet that he has not yet sold the film to an OTT platform. 'I have not given it to an OTT yet. I've said this before, too. I was not offered the rate I requested. I asked them what if the film is a hit, and they quoted a certain number. I asked them to keep a cheque ready now,' he said. As per Sacnilk, Kannappa has collected an estimated ₹ 16.35 crore net in India in two days of release, showing a slight dip in collections on Saturday. It remains to be seen if the numbers perk up on Sunday. About Kannappa
Kannappa is based on the lore of a hunter named Thinnadu who turns from an atheist to a great believer in Lord Shiva. Vishnu has often called the film his 'dream project,' and it has been in the making for years. He also wrote the screenplay for the film based on an idea provided by veteran actor-writer Tanikella Bharani.

Kannappa Box Office Collections: Vishnu Manchu starrer falls apart over the weekend

Kannappa had an ordinary weekend at the Indian box office, with numbers being on the low side and a decreasing trend. While the film held up reasonably well on Saturday, a drop in numbers on Sunday has all but sealed its fate. It is unlikely the film will get any sort of hold on weekdays and will likely be out of cinemas by the end of its first week. The film grossed Rs. 26 crore approx in India over the weekend, most of it, Rs. 18.50 crore approx, coming from the Telugu states, despite the film having a wide pan-India release across various languages. The Hindi dubbed version got some numbers to show, but not enough to take it anywhere; the other dubbed versions were outright washouts. The day-wise box office collections of Kannappa are as follows: To its credit, these numbers are actually big for the face value of lead Vishnu Manchu, who doesn't have much of a box office track record to his name. However, the film has a very high cost involved, with a galore of cameos from across the country, including big names like Akshay Kumar, Prabhas and Mohanlal. It is because of this that the film warranted bigger numbers, and for that matter, whatever it has earned, probably came because of those factors. The territorial breakdown for Kannappa in India is as follows:

Great news for Hera Pheri 3 fans! Paresh Rawal confirms return to franchise

Veteran actor Paresh Rawal has officially confirmed his return to Hera Pheri 3, putting an end to the ongoing controversy with Akshay Kumar's production company. The actor, who had earlier announced his exit from the film on X (formerly Twitter), revealed in a recent podcast that everything is now 'resolved.' Back in May, Rawal's sudden exit made headlines and shocked fans of the cult comedy franchise. Just two days later, Akshay Kumar filed a ₹25 crore lawsuit against him, accusing Rawal of sabotaging the shoot. However, the dispute now appears to be settled. What did Paresh Rawal say about Hera Pheri 3? Speaking on Himanshu Mehta's podcast, Paresh Rawal addressed the controversy, saying, "There's no controversy. I believe that when people have loved something so much, then you have to be extra careful. It is our responsibility towards the audience. The audience has given you so much adulation. You can't take things for granted. Mehnat karke unko (film) do." "So, I was of the opinion that sab saath mein aaye, mehnat karein. Aur kuch nahin. It is all resolved now," the actor added. Hera Pheri 3 controversy: What happened? Rumours began swirling when Paresh Rawal announced on May 18 that he was stepping away from the film. Many reports claimed his exit was due to creative differences with director Priyadarshan. However, Rawal had later clarified in a public post, "I wish to put it on record that my decision to step away from 'Hera Pheri 3' was not due to creative differences. I reiterate that there are no creative disagreement with the filmmaker. I hold immense love, respect, and faith in Mr Priyadarshan." Soon after this statement, Akshay Kumar's production company filed a legal complaint against him, seeking ₹25 crore in damages for causing delays and disrupting the shoot. Akshay, who had recently acquired legal rights to the franchise from Feroz Nadiadwala, also serves as the film's producer. Following the legal action, Paresh Rawal's legal team had stepped in. The actor's team then returned ₹11 lakh, along with 15% interest, to Akshay Kumar's company as part of the settlement. "My lawyer, Ameet Naik, has sent an appropriate response regarding my rightful termination and exit. Once they read my response all issues will be laid to rest," Rawal shared on his X account following the development.
