When Is Hariyali Teej 2025? Date, Traditions, And Food Made On The Festival

NDTV24-07-2025
Hariyali Teej is a popular Hindu festival, especially significant for married women in many parts of North India. On this day, women observe a fast and pray for the well-being of their husbands and families. Hariyali Teej marks the celebration of the divine union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, who is affectionately called Teej Mata. The festival is observed with devotion and vibrant rituals across states such as Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh. In 2025, Hariyali Teej will be celebrated on Sunday, 27 July. Apart from Hariyali Teej, Kajari Teej and Hartalika Teej are also celebrated during the months of Sawan and Bhadrapada, respectively.

Difference Between Hariyali Teej and Hartalika Teej
Hariyali Teej falls on the Tritiya of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Shravan, while Hartalika Teej is observed almost a month later on Bhadrapada Shukla Tritiya. Although both are celebrated on the third lunar day, their purposes differ. Hariyali Teej celebrates the union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, and married women observe it for their husbands' long life and their family's prosperity. In contrast, Hartalika Teej commemorates Goddess Parvati's intense penance, and unmarried girls keep this fast to seek an ideal husband, while married women pray for their husbands' longevity.

Hariyali Teej Traditions and Customs in 2025
Like most Indian festivals, Hariyali Teej is celebrated with enthusiasm and colour. Green is the dominant theme-women dress in green outfits, adorn their wrists with green bangles, and apply intricate mehndi designs to their hands. Swings are decorated and used for traditional singing and dancing. Married women often visit their maternal homes, where they are pampered with "Sindhara"-a festive collection of sweets, bangles, and gifts. The fast is observed throughout the day, and in the evening, women break their fast with a traditional meal after listening to devotional stories of Lord Shiva and Parvati.

Discover 2025's Airport Fashion: K-Pop Inspired Styles for Gen-Z Women

First Glance: When K-pop Meets Youth on the Move Who says you need designer overload to stand out? When Karina and Ningning walked through the terminal, all eyes were glued on their looks-one razor-sharp and clean, the other slouchy and rebellious. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Their styles remind every Gen-Z woman out there: cool isn't about logos, it's about attitude . This is the 2025 airport style we've all been waiting for! Karina's Minimal Chic: Structured, Smart, Unstoppable Karina proved that ultra-simple can be ultra-impactful. She selected a fitted, black high-neck top balanced with dark, wide jeans perfectly rolled at the hem-a silhouette that feels crisp and powerful without fuss. The finishing touches? A sleek belt with a subtle gold buckle catches light, pointed black shoes elevate the look, and a black crossbody bag adds a dash of function-meets-style. Her sunglasses and understated gold jewelry send the message: she's ready for business, travel, or anything the day throws her way. Budget breakdown (in Indian Rupees): Karina's look is within reach for students and young professionals, with fitted tees typically priced ₹1,200-2,300, wide jeans around ₹2,500-5,000, and a quality belt for ₹1,000-2,500. Sacnilk reports minimalist styles like this are up 27% in popularity among metro youth, as they combine timelessness with practical flair. Quick tip: Don't love high-neck tops? Try a soft round-neck or even a light polo shirt to stay cool. Switch the pointy shoes for comfy sneakers or ethnic flats for campus runs. Stick with the fitted-plus-wide formula, and you're golden! Ningning: Oversized Freedom and Urban Energy Ningning changed the game by going big and bold. Her oversized, black graphic t-shirt, loose relaxed pants, and classic black beanie are instant attitude boosters, perfect for days when you want comfort and a little mystery. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now She pairs it with angular sunglasses and a practical crossbody bag loaded with zip details. Gold jewelry-just a necklace and a couple rings-keeps things effortlessly modern. Expect to pay roughly ₹800-2,000 for a big graphic tee, ₹1,500-3,000 for flowy trousers, and ₹400-1,000 for a beanie. According to Sacnilk, 31% more young Indian women in 2025 are ditching "fussy" fits for loose, oversized styles and love the confidence boost that comes with it. Style hack: Hot weather? Swap the beanie for a light scarf or headband. Oversized tee too long? Tie up one side for a fun twist. And don't be afraid to pair with joggers, wide palazzos, or even denim shorts, depending on your city's vibe.
