Poonam Pandey took the Internet by storm when her team announced that the actress had 'died' due to cervical cancer.
Known for an unapologetic public persona, Poonam Pandey has long remained a polarising figure in the entertainment industry. Things took a dramatic turn last year when the model-turned-actress used social media to falsely announce her death – IYKYK.
Poonam's stunt attracted massive attention from both netizens and celebrities, but it also triggered a wave of harsh criticism and backlash across social media.
In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Poonam explained her reasons for going to such extreme lengths for the campaign. When asked about the controversy, she stated it was all done to make people realise that cervical cancer is preventable if the right precautions are taken.
'People are calling me now saying, 'We hated you,' but people are taking vaccines now," Poonam said, adding that even her doctor friends praised the campaign as brilliant.
'People were not taking it seriously. Nobody was until they got to know about me. It was insane," she added.

Poonam Pandey took the Internet by storm when her team announced her 'death" on social media due to cervical cancer, highlighting her 'brave fight." After 24 hours, Poonam returned to her account to reveal the announcement was a hoax and expressed pride in the awareness it generated around cervical cancer. The stunt, however, was met with severe backlash, with netizens labelling it unethical and manipulative.
Speaking about the criticism, she said, 'People came out, and they bluntly spoke shit about me. Jhoot toh sabhi bolte hai, apni daily life mein. At least 10 jhoot bolte honge, maine 1 bola, 1000-plus people were saved, aur tumko usme bhi problem hai."
Discussing the campaign further, Poonam Pandey revealed that the idea came from an advertising agency named Schbang, and that she charged no money for participating in it, stating it was purely for the cause of cervical cancer awareness.
'I thought main koi achha kaam kar leti hoon. I would do something nice, but people crucified me," she noted.
While some supporters argued that Poonam's bold stunt raised critical awareness and drew attention to the importance of HPV vaccination, others, including organisations like Gavi, criticised the campaign and called it ethically questionable.

Virat gearing up for Australia ODIs? Legend posts picture with a coach in nets

New Delhi [India], August 8 (ANI): In what seems to be an exciting development for fans, legendary Indian batter Virat Kohli posted a picture with Naeem Amin, a coach, who is also associated with the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Gujarat Titans (GT) as an assistant coach, after what seemed be like a practice session. Virat took to his Instagram to post a picture with Naeem and captioned it, "Thanks for helping out with the hit brother. Always lovely to see you." This could very well be a sign that Virat, retired from Tests and T20Is, is gearing up for a season of ODI cricket. From October 19 onwards, India will tour Australia for a three-ODI and five-T20I series. Fans could get to see the 'King' back in action from October 19 onwards at Perth's Optus Stadium, with two more matches scheduled for Adelaide (October 23) and Sydney (October 25). Back in May, Virat sent a huge wave of shock and grief among the cricketing fraternity, announcing his retirement from Tests ahead of India's tour of England, which kickstarted the team's ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 campaign. In 123 Tests, Virat scored 9,230 runs at an average of 46.85, with 30 centuries and 31 fifties and a best score of 254*. He ended as India's fourth-highest run-getter in Tests. He also ended his career as India's most successful Test captain, with 40 wins in 68 Tests, including memorable wins in England, Australia and South Africa and a series win in Australia. Virat's final image in whites was helplessly edging a Scott Boland delivery to the slips in the final fifth Test at Sydney. He ended the horrific Australia tour with just 190 runs in nine innings under his belt, at an average of 23.75, despite a century at Perth during the first Test. His struggles with deliveries outside the off-stump channel and poor performances against Boland marked his final outing in white clothing. Virat and more than him, his fans would be hoping that he scores in heaps during the ODI tour to Australia. He has an outstanding record in the country in ODIs, having made 1,327 runs in 29 matches and innings at an average of 51.03, with five centuries and six fifties. His best score is 133*. Notably, in his previous ODI outing, he won the ICC Champions Trophy for India back in March, scoring 218 runs in five innings at an average of 54.50, with a century and fifty each. In seven ODIs this year, he has been in a solid form, with 275 runs in seven innings at an average of 45.83, a century and two fifties. In his most recent cricket assignment, he ended an 18-year-wait for an Indian Premier League (IPL) title with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and top-scored for the team with 657 runs in 15 matches with eight fifties. In 302 ODIs, he has made 14,181 runs in 290 innings at an average of 57.88, with 51 centuries and 74 fifties and a best score of 183. He is the third-highest run-getter in the format. Across all of international cricket, he has made 27,599 runs at an average of 52.27, with 82 centuries and 143 fifties. With three more ODIs scheduled from November to December against South Africa at home as well, fans would be hoping that he posts some big scores as it could help him touch the 15,000 ODI run mark and 28,000 international runs mark. One Thousand Miles: Yo Yo Honey Singh drops music video; fans get nostalgic, ‘Bachpana ki yaadein'

Yo Yo Honey Singh has dropped a new music video, One Thousand Miles. This comes a day after the rapper getting into legal trouble over his song, Millionaire. Yo Yo Honey Singh posted the video link on Instagram in collaboration with T-Series. On YouTube, the music label posted, 'The Wait is Over! Presenting the Offical Video Song "One Thousand Miles" from the Album Desi Kalakaar by Yo Yo Honey Singh.' The new track stars Honey Singh and actress Mandy Takhar. Singh wrote the lyrics with Lil Golu and composed the music himself. The music video is directed by Mihir Gulati. The song originally came out in 2014. Fans waited 11 years for the video, which features Honey Singh driving a Lamborghini to meet his love interest, played by Mandy Takhar. The video has received a warm response for its nostalgic vibe and stylish visuals, quickly garnering nearly 2 million views within the first 5 hours of its release. A YouTube user said they had stopped listening to Yo Yo Honey Singh but couldn't resist this song as it was their college-time favourite. They recalled how it helped them through B Tech, especially during long bus rides with earphones in. 'Bro made me feel nostalgic. I remembered those days again when I used to plug in my earphones, get on the college bus, and during that 50km ride to and from college, I'd listen to the whole album,' the user wrote. 'This was my favourite from the album. We used to play it while driving cars in GTA San Andreas. What nostalgia,' exclaimed another user. Another commented, 'Bachpana ki yaadein thi kash jabhi video aata toh aaj tk dekhne m maza aata (It was a memory from childhood. Wish the video had come out back then, it would've been fun to watch even today).' The Punjab Women's Commission took action against Yo Yo Honey Singh and Karan Aujla for allegedly using disrespectful words in their songs Millionaire and MF Gabru. The commission said the lyrics were abusive towards women and gave a wrong message to society. 'Everyone has listened to the song and objected, but it still gets millions of views. It's not just the Women's Commission's responsibility to notice this; listeners and society also must reject such language,' ANI quoted PWC chairperson Raj Lali Gill as saying. 'In the songs, the singer neither controls their language nor considers respecting mothers. They do this to make money,' Gill added.
