Who will be the first PSL coach to bite the dust?
Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has started the Betway Premiership on a low as his side suffered back-to-back defeats. The 46-year-old joined the club from Marumo Gallants and despite a promising pre-season and a good start in the MTN8, things fell apart in a space of a week.
An opening loss to Sekhukhune United raised eyebrows but it was the surprise defeat to Marumo Gallants which put the coach under pressure.
It's doubtful that the coach will be let go this early, but if the Buccaneers somehow find a suitable replacement, he might be out of a job next month. Defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 and poor league results might force Irvine Khoza to make changes.
Another PSL coach who might be out is Chippa United head coach Sinethemba Badela. According to reports, the coach has had a difficult relationship with the club's sporting director, Sinesipho Mali.
According to SABC Sport , Badela could be fired by the Chilli Boys just two months after being appointed as their coach. At Chippa, is all about results and if the coach can bring positive results early this season, he might survive.
In the past, Chippa Mpengesi has been quick to sharpen his axe whenever results were not coming. It remains to be seen if Chippa United will be the first PSL team to once again fire a coach.

Pirates coach Ouaddou vows to make Happy People happy again
"They are Happy People, and they love the club,' Ouaddou said. Following the club's poor start to the season, Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou says he understands the fans frustration and has vowed to make them happy again. This comes after the Buccaneers suffered back-to-back defeats in the league, losing 1-0 to Sekhukhune United in their opening Betway Premiership clash before being edged 2-1 by Marumo Gallants. 'We understand them [the fans] when the club loses two games in a row, it's normal that they are not happy and we are not happy as well. 'Every fan in the country is passionate, they are the 12th man. In every big football nation in Africa, when you start like this, you understand the disappointment. What we can promise them is that we will bounce back. We'll sweat for the shirt, represent the badge with pride, and bring them happiness. It's only the beginning,' he added. Meanwhile, Ouaddou gave an injury update ahead of Saturday's MTN8 semi final first leg clash against Mamelodi Sundowns at the Orlando Stadium. 'Most of the players are available, we have only (Nkosinathi) Sibisi, we have (Makhehlene) Makhaula who is still coming back from his injury. We still have (Olisa) Ndah and most of the players are available,' commented Ouaddou. MTN8 semi-final: Orlando Pirates vs Mamelodi Sundowns
Orlando Stadium will be abuzz on Saturday, 16 August as Orlando Pirates welcome rivals Mamelodi Sundowns for the first leg of their MTN8 semi-final tie. A sell-out crowd is expected at the iconic venue for what is undoubtedly the season's biggest fixture thus far, with two of the country's biggest clubs going head-to-head in what promises to be another exciting cup clash. The two Gauteng giants meet in the last four for the third time in the MTN8 era, with the Buccaneers looking to go past one of their biggest foes to keep their hopes of an unprecedented fourth consecutive title alive. It's an equally important fixture for the visitors, who are looking to end Orlando Pirates' lengthy reign in the competition. Mamelodi Sundowns visit Soweto fresh off registering their first three-point haul in the league this season, courtesy of a 2-0 victory over AmaZulu at Loftus Versfeld on Tuesday night. Their previous Betway Premiership outing yielded a single point as they were held to a 1-1 draw by a stubborn Chippa United at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium the weekend prior. The match in Gqeberha remains their only away fixture so far this season, with the other two taking place in more familiar territory. They were in Tshwane for their MTN8 quarter-final clash against Richards Bay, where they netted four goals without conceding to open their campaign with a comfortable win in a match played at Lucas Moripe Stadium. Ahead of their trip to Orlando, the Tshwane giants have confirmed a couple of permanent exits with ex-Buccaneer Thembinkosi Lorch leaving the club along with midfielder Neo Maema. All focus will now be on Saturday's fixture as they aim to place themselves on the driving seat ahead of the deciding leg, which will be taking place in their own backyard. The Buccaneers got past Polokwane City in the opening round, beating them 2-0 at Orlando Stadium to secure a spot in the semis. The high of that season opener was soon followed by a difficult week in the Betway Premiership, where they are yet to register a point. This comes after a 1-0 defeat at home to Sekhukhune on the first match day plus a disappointing midweek outing away from home, where they lost 2-1 to Marumo Gallants at Dr Molemela Stadium. A break from league football could be a welcome change for the Soweto giants, who are unbeaten in their eight most recent cup fixtures. They head into the clash with an injury worry over Nkosinathi Sibisi, who missed the trip to Bloemfontein with vice-captain Mbekezeli Mbokazi taking over the armband. Defender Olisa Ndah also remains sidelined alongside veteran midfielder Makhehleni Makhaula, with both players yet to feature this season. There are options aplenty for coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, however, as Orlando Pirates look to get back to winning ways on their return to a competition they have dominated in recent years. Orlando Pirates head into the fixture looking to not only draw first blood in the tie, but to also uphold a proud record against Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8. They have not lost to their rivals from Tshwane in the competition's current format, which consists of two-legged semi-finals. They have competed twice in the last four, with the Buccaneers edging past the Brazilians on both occasions, courtesy of a 4-3 aggregate score in the 2011/12 edition and a 3-0 win en route to lifting the 2022/23 title. Their other clash during this period was in the final held at Moses Mabhida Stadium in October 2023, where the Soweto giants lifted the second of three consecutive trophies with victory on penalties following a goalless draw. Mamelodi Sundowns' last win over OrlandoPirates in top-eight competition came in 2007, when an early strike from Brent Carelse handed them a tight 1-0 win in the final. Kick-off is at 15:00 with the match broadcast live on SuperSport PSL and SABC 1. Tickets are sold out . Blockbuster weekend as Premier League returns, Pirates tackle Sundowns, Boks face Wallabies and Dricus defends middleweight title & more!
This weekend promises to be pure sporting cinema! On the soccer pitch, we look forward to a blockbuster MTN8 semi-final... This weekend promises to be pure sporting cinema! On the soccer pitch, we look forward to a blockbuster MTN8 semi-final first leg between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, as well as the return of the Premier League. The Rugby Championship also kicks off on Saturday afternoon when the Springboks host the Wallabies before Argentina face the All Blacks in Córdoba. And of course, we'll get to see Dricus du Plessis attempt to defend his middleweight strap against Khamzat Chimaev. MTN8: Buccaneers under pressure ahead of Sundowns showdown A season that promised so much has already begun to unravel for Orlando Pirates as pressure mounts on new manager Abdeslam Ouaddou. A win in the first round of the MTN8 against Polokwane City was followed up by back-to-back defeats against Sekhukhune and Marumo Gallants. Sundowns, meanwhile, hit Richards Bay for four in their MTN8 quarter final. Their draw with Chippa on the opening weekend of the league came as a shock to many before normal service resumed on Wednesday evening with a 2-0 win over AmaZulu. Ouaddou has some decisions to make for this one. Leaving Rele Mofokeng on the bench against Gallants drew the ire of many Pirates supporters, with Jaisen Clifford's 92nd-minute winner for Marumo further exacerbating the issues. After a brilliant season under Jose Riveiro last time out, and with a ridiculous clutch of star signings in the transfer window, there will be little time for the Moroccan to get things right. There couldn't be a worse time to square off against Sundowns. Bet on all of the action across hundreds of live in-play or pre-match markets with Hollywoodbets. The Premier League returns Speaking of pressure, Ruben Amorim gets his first full Premier League campaign as Manchester United manager underway on Saturday. Coming in midway through last season, he was given a free hit even as results slid and the club's 42-point haul was only good enough for 15th place. He spent big in the window, bringing in Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Carlos Baleba also likely to arrive for a figure north of £100 million. He simply must push for top four at the very least. An opening weekend tie at the Theatre of Dreams against Arsenal is hardly ideal, with the Gunners winning on their last three visits to the ground. Elsewhere, Liverpool — who have also splashed the cash — are in action against Bournemouth on Friday evening. While Liverpool have strengthened, the Cherries have been shorn of their brightest stars. Dean Huijsen, Milos Kerkez and Illia Zabarnyi have all departed, along with Kepa Arrizabalaga's loan coming to an end. A tough evening awaits at Anfield. Manchester City travels to the Black Country to square off against Wolves. Pep Guardiola cut a stressed figure last season as the wheels came off over the festive period, and a strong start at Molineux is of paramount importance. Chelsea have also splashed the cash this summer and get their campaign underway at home against Crystal Palace. The Club World Cup winners have had significantly less rest than most of their rivals. It'll be interesting to see how they handle the opening weeks of the campaign after their escapades across the Pacific. No matter your team, Hollywoodbets brings you unmatched markets, live in-play action, and boosted odds to add even more thrill to the weekend. Rugby Championship: Title defence on the cards for Rassie and the Springboks? It's crazy to think that the Springboks have never successfully defended a Rugby Championship or Tri-Nations title. That's exactly what they'll be aiming to do over the next few months. They've also got the chance to become the first side to beat the All Blacks at Eden Park in 50 matches. But before all of that, they get their campaign underway against a Wallabies outfit who have just come off a bruising series defeat against the British & Irish Lions. The Boks, meanwhile, faced off against a weakened Italian side and Georgia, with some suggesting they're a bit undercooked coming into the Rugby Championship. Rassie Erasmus will know that the first two home Tests against Australia will set the tone for their campaign, and with just two years to go until the World Cup down under, time is running out to bed in new combinations. The curtain will come down on the weekend's TRC action in Córdoba when Argentina faces the All Blacks. Scott Robertson will miss some key personnel on the treatment table in the form of Tyrel Lomax, Cam Roigard, Luke Jacobson, Noah Hotham and Caleb Clarke. Los Pumas are a serious team but still blow frustratingly hot and cold. They beat the British & Irish Lions before back-to-back defeats against a second-string English side. They also opened last season's Rugby Championship with a 38-30 win against the All Blacks in Wellington before losing 42-10 at Eden Park a week later. They'll be targeting a fast start in front of their partisan support. Place your bets with Hollywoodbets on all of the action from first try-scorer and winning margins to live halftime markets it's all in play! Dricus du Plessis: Mzansi's warrior returns to the octagon UFC 319 at Chicago's United Center features a stacked card, with the main event seeing South Africa's first UFC champion, Dricus du Plessis, attempt to defend his middleweight strap against the unbeaten Khamzat Chimaev. There's no doubting the Chechen's ability; however, there are chinks in his armour as fights drag into the championship rounds. If he can't impose his ground game on the South African, there's every chance he could blow up heading into the fourth round, where Dricus' superior stamina will put him in a position to end the fight. We saw evidence of this when Chimaev dominated early proceedings against Gilbert Burns before his breathing became seriously laboured and his takedown attempts slowed significantly. Back the champ with Hollywoodbets' exclusive fight markets!
