Does Superman 2025 have a post-credits scene and does it set up a sequel?
The James Gunn-directed superhero movie sees a new Man of Steel (David Corenswet) take on the balding baddie Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult), who has a sinister plot to take down Superman.
Luckily for the Man of Tomorrow, he's not facing Luthor alone, and his friends Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan), and Jimmy Olsen (Skyler Gisondo), along with the Justice Gang, are there to back him up.
The new movie has proved a hit with critics and fans alike. At the time of writing, Superman has a Rotten Tomatoes critics score of 82% (although our own Tori Brazier has some thoughts on that) and an audience score of 94%.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, then the film is tracking for an impressive opening with box office experts predicting it'll soar past the $100 million mark.
Of course, if you're thinking of watching the film, you'll likely have one big question: 'Does Superman 2025 have a post-credit scene?'

Yes, Superman 2025 has two post-credit scenes. Warning spoilers ahead!
The first is a short scene of Superman and his powerful pooch Krypto sitting on the Moon catching their breath after the events of the film. There's no dialogue, it's literally just Clark and his dog taking in the beauty of the Earth.
Meanwhile, the second scene has a bit more going on. This fun clip shows Superman and Mr Terrific (Edi Gathegi) examining a crack in a building.
As the pair of superheroes stare at it, Clark points out to his colleague that when he glued reality back together (Lex ripped a hole in our dimension earlier in the film) he was off by an inch.
As a result, the building is ever so slightly out of place. A furious Mr Terrific then points out that he was busy saving reality and storms off as an embarrassed Superman apologises, admitting 'he can be a real jerk sometimes.'
No, the Superman post-credit scenes don't set up Superman 2. However, the film does contain a few references that hint at the DCU movies yet to come.
The biggest sequel hook comes at the end of the film, but before the credits, when a drunk Supergirl (Milly Alcock) turns up to pick up Krypto. Work is already underway on the Supergirl movie which is set for release on June 26, 2026.
Superman 2 has not been officially announced but there are signs that Warner Bros and James Gunn are working on a follow-up of some kind. More Trending
David Corenswet admitted to Vanity Fair, 'I'm already under contract for a sequel.'
Lifelong Superman fan and Deputy TV editor Tom Percival shares his thoughts…
James Gunn's Superman is a film with its heart in the right place. While it's a bit of a mess at times – both visually and narratively – it nails the optimistic, ever so slightly corny, spirit of the character and it's clear from all the zany ideas that have been crammed in that James is massive a fan of the comics.
Arguably, though, the film's secret weapon is its cast. David, Rachel and Nicholas are sensational as the core trio. Meanwhile, Edi Gathegi steals every scene he's in as the aptly named Mr Terrific. If the rest of the DCU is as good as this film then its future looks s uper .
Meanwhile, James Gunn explained to Entertainment Weekly that he's working on a follow-up to the film but said it's not a straightforward sequel.
It seems likely then that we'll see Corenswet's Superman again but perhaps not in a film called Superman 2.
Superman is in theaters now.

‘Superman' and DC Studios fly to a $122 million opening
In a bid to kickoff a new era for DC Studios, James Gunn's 'Superman' opened with $122 million in U.S. and Canada ticket sales over the weekend, according to studio estimates Sunday. DC and Warner Bros. had a lot riding on 'Superman.' While the Walt Disney Co.'s Marvel Studios has had its own share of struggles, the superheroes of DC have recently found mostly kryptonite in theaters. Films like 'Joker: Folie à Deux,' 'The Flash' and 'Shazam! Fury of the Gods' all flopped. But 'Superman,' written and directed by Gunn, is intended as a new start. It's the first release fully steered by Gunn and Peter Safran, co-heads of DC Studios, since they were handed the keys to DC's superhero cinematic universe. And while Gunn turned 'Guardians of the Galaxy' into a massive success for Marvel, his irreverent, idiosyncratic touch made the director — once a B-movie filmmaker with Troma Entertainment — an unlikely steward for one of the movies' most bankable and beloved brands. The roughly on-target opening was the third largest of 2025, and the first DC title to surpass $100 million in its opening weekend since 'Wonder Woman' in 2017. Ticket sales were relatively soft for 'Superman' overseas. In 78 international markets, it grossed $95 million. In China, it collected just $6.6 million. As an American icon, 'Superman' inevitably attracted political discourse. Some right-wing commentators criticized the movie as 'woke' after Gunn described the superhero from Krypton as 'an immigrant.' On X, the White House posted an image of President Donald Trump as Superman. In 'Superman,' which cost about $225 million to make, Gunn steers the Man of Steel in a drastically different tonal direction than in previous iterations from filmmaker Zack Snyder. Skipping the Kansas origin story, the film instead picks up with Superman ( David Corenswet ) after his first defeat. Rachel Brosnahan plays Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult is Lex Luthor. The 'Superman' debut didn't come close to besting the $166 million launch for Snyder's 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,' in 2016. But it did open higher, not accounting for inflation, than Snyder's 'Man of Steel.' That film debuted with $116 million in 2013. But while Snyder's films were often unloved by critics, largely good reviews greeted Gunn's 'Superman.' On Rotten Tomatoes, it scored 82% fresh — the best for the franchise since the first two movies with Christopher Reeve: 'Superman' (1978) and 'Superman II' (1980). Audiences gave it an 'A-' CinemaScore. 'Superman' faced sizeable competition too. Last week's top film, 'Jurassic World Rebirth,' slid to second place with $40 million. With 'Superman' soaking up many large-format screens, Universal Pictures' seventh 'Jurassic' film slipped a steep 57% from its opening weekend. Starring Scarlett Johansson, 'Jurassic World Rebirth' got off to a thunderous $318.3 million global start. In two weeks, it's amassed $529.5 million worldwide. Also still in the mix is Apple Studios' biggest box-office success yet, 'F1.' Joseph Kosinski's Formula One action thriller, starring Brad Pitt, came in third with $13 million in its third weekend. The film, distributed by Warner Bros., has collected $393.4 million globally in three weeks. But it also carries a hefty price tag of roughly $250 million, plus at least $100 million in promotion.

Orlando Bloom shrugs off Katy Perry split by singing his heart out at Oasis gig
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Orlando Bloom at Heaton Park is not a sight we expected to see this weekend. But by the looks of things, there's nowhere else Orlando would rather have been than singing his heart out at an Oasis gig. Brushing off his recent personal drama after splitting from pop star Katy Perry, the actor, 48, had the time of his life at the Gallagher brothers' second home show in Manchester. While he's used to spending much of his time in the States to co-parent daughter Daisy Dove, the English movie star unleashed his truest, fullest Brit on Saturday night. Taking to Instagram with a warning message before spamming his seven million followers with content, he wrote: 'If you don't like @oasis swipe on- if you wanna see me run through some of my favourite karaoke numbers for laughs here you are lol'. What followed was an onslaught of videos from the gig, which was part of Liam and Noel's worldwide reunion tour, marking their first time sharing the stage since disbanding in 2009. Orlando was in his absolute element in the VIP area, surrounded by the Oasis kids, including Liam's sons Lennon, 25, and Gene, 24. The Lord of the Rings star belted out the band's biggest hits, such as Don't Look Back in Anger, Wonderwall, and Champagne Supernova. He jumped around without a care in the world and panned across the sold-out crowd sporting Oasis merch, arms in the air. There didn't appear to be a lyric Orlando didn't know, proving he could've been a backing singer while screaming along to Take Me Away, Half the World Away, and Live Forever. At the end of the night, he added: 'My 16 year old self who was at Knebworth just let it all hang out in Manchester what a night'. Ahead of the gig, Orlando let his fans know exactly how he was feeling, posting a video with the caption from his journey: 'Road to Oasis. Could not be more f'in excited'. 'It's gonna be karaoke all night,' he later declared, beaming at the camera. Orlando's love life has been a hot topic of conversation lately, as it was recently confirmed that he and fiancée Katy, 40, were no longer together romantically. After much speculation, the pair finally issued a statement via their representatives, telling Us Weekly: 'Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry's relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on coparenting.' They continued: 'They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is—and always will be—raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect.' Orlando and Katy got together in 2016, and after a brief split and reconciliation, they got engaged on Valentine's Day in 2019 and welcomed Daisy four years ago. Things appear to be pretty civil between the exes now, though, as they were photographed together just days after their split was confirmed, partying with Jeff and Lauren Bezos on their honeymoon. Pirates of the Caribbean star Orlando had already attended the wedding itself alone, while Katy was touring in Australia. The Roar hitmaker did, however, previously attend Lauren's star-studded bachelorette party in Paris, having also been a passenger alongside her for their brief Blue Origin trip to space earlier in the year. While it had been claimed Katy felt hurt by Orlando partying with fellow A-listers, such as Sydney Sweeney and Kim Kardashian, at the Bezos nuptials, sources have insisted there's no real bad blood. Ahead of the split statement being made public, an insider said: 'Katy and Orlando have split but are amicable. 'It's not contentious at the moment. Katy is, of course, upset but is relieved not to have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life.' The Teenage Dream singer was previously married to Russell Brand from 2010 to 2012. In a now-famously viral moment, the Get Him to the Greek actor told Katy he wanted a divorce via text message before she was due on stage. More Trending Meanwhile, she and Orlando, who was married to Miranda Kerr from 2010 to 2013, were initially due to marry in Japan in 2020 with 150 guests in attendance. Alas, they postponed the celebrations due to the pandemic. Speaking in 2022, Katy admitted that they were still get to decide on a location, telling the Kyle & Jackie O radio show: 'It's a destination location that, like, you know, we're still trying for it to work out. 'But every couple of months it's like, 'New variant! New variant! New variant!'' Got a story? New 'Superman' muscles to $122 million at U.S., Canada box office
LOS ANGELES, July 13 (Reuters) - A new "Superman" movie from Warner Bros (WBD.O), opens new tab hauled in $122 million at box offices in the United States and Canada over the weekend, a strong debut that kicked off a new era for DC comic book heroes on the big screen. The movie that introduces David Corenswet as the Man of Steel added $95 million in international markets for a global total of $217 million through Sunday, Warner Bros said on Sunday. "Superman" is a reboot of the movie franchise based on the hero who debuted in comic books in 1938. The film's performance is critical to the future of Warner Bros and its DC Studios division. Despite a stable of iconic characters including Batman and Wonder Woman, DC has not been able to match the blockbuster box office power of Walt Disney's (DIS.N), opens new tab Marvel superhero films. The new "Superman" was written and directed by James Gunn, the filmmaker known for three offbeat "Guardians of the Galaxy" movies for Marvel. Gunn was tapped as co-CEO of DC Studios in 2022, alongside producer Peter Safran, and billed as the hero who could bring consistent success to its film and TV projects.
