New Delhi: Following a coordinated Indian military operation targeting terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir on May 7, numerous current and former Indian cricketers publicly expressed their support for the action. The operation, involving strikes at nine locations, reportedly resulted in the elimination of eighty terrorists.
Following the Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in 26 fatalities, several former Indian cricketers, including Gautam Gambhir, Aakash Chopra, and Pragyan Ojha, publicly expressed their appreciation for the Indian armed forces' response. Kolkata Knight Riders spinner Varun Chakravarthy also shared the army's image of 'Operation Sindoor' on his Instagram account.

Indian security forces conducted a multi-pronged counter-terrorism operation in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, resulting in the reported deaths of over eighty terrorists. The operation, which involved targeted strikes on terrorist infrastructure, occurred early Wednesday morning.
Following the April 22nd Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians, a large-scale cross-border operation targeted nine sites linked to the militant groups Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen. This is considered one of the most extensive such operations in recent times.
Indian forces launched significant strikes in Bahawalpur and Muridke, areas believed to be key operational bases for the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) respectively. Intelligence suggests that approximately 25-30 militants were killed in each location. One target, the Masjid wa Markaz Taiba in Muridke, is a known LeT facility considered central to the group's ideology and operations.
Several locations associated with banned groups, including launch sites, training camps, and radicalization centers, were targeted in the strikes. While the confirmed death toll is still pending verification from all affected areas, officials estimate it to be between 80 and 90.
Following a military operation, the Indian Army posted a short video on X, stating that justice had been delivered.

New Delhi: Investigators probing the recent cases of espionage have identified a former sub-inspector of Pakistan Police as a key handler in the cross-border spy networks. The suspect, identified as Nasir, had been recruited by ISI a few years ago after which he voluntarily retired from service and turned a YouTuber. The two had become a bridge between the ISI and Indian YouTubers. "After initial onboarding, Nasir would connect Indian YouTubers visiting Pakistan with high commission official Danish and others who would then assign them espionage tasks and invite them as guests to the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi," said an investigator. Danish was expelled from India in May, after travel vlogger Jyoti Malhotra was arrested by Haryana Police. Nasir also figures in the interrogation of Jasbir Singh, another YouTuber who was arrested last week for allegedly passing on information on Indian forces' movement to ISI. Nasir is also a property dealer based out of Faisalabad and is fond of driving SUVs. "He has a lot of followers on YouTube and he advocates for visas to Indians yearning to meet family in Pakistan through his videos. However, that is his cover to camouflaging his spying activities," said a senior investigator. Nasir and Naushaba Shehzad, who runs a travel agency in Pakistan, facilitated visas for those who "cooperated". In lieu of visa and other facilities, including accommodation at five star hotels, the duo asked the influencers to shoot pro-Pakistan videos and upload them on YouTube to create a favourable narrative. Soon, mobile-friendly system to detect counterfeit notes
Ahmedabad: Over the years, Gujarat, and India as a whole, have seen several methods to pass off fake notes as real ones, with some even making a business out of it. Senior city police officials said Ahmedabad police's Special Operations Group (SOG) files cumulative cases periodically after seizing fake Indian currency notes (FICN) detected in the banking channels. "The highest denomination currency notes are often the most-used ones. After the discontinuation of bigger denominations, now Rs 500 is the biggest note, and thus the focus is on the note, along with the most circulated one – Rs 100. Notes of both the denominations have multiple security features that undergo scrutiny, and mostly the currency counting machine identifies the FICN," said a senior official. "Often, the material of the note and its security features also flag the forgery. " An identification system developed by researchers at the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) takes a different approach by using technology — it uses the serial number on the currency note to check with a central database to flag all the instances where a specific number has featured on the suspected FICN list. A team primarily from NFSU was granted an Indian patent for the method of identification. "The proposed system maintains a comprehensive historical database of scanned entities by users, ensuring consistent and scalable verification. Its real-time alerts notify users and authorities promptly, enhancing responsiveness. Designed to be mobile-friendly, rapid and cost-effective, the technology can help in sectors such as banking, retail, logistics and law enforcement," said a senior NFSU official. Law student Sharmishta Panoli walks out of Kolkata jail. ‘Wiser, learnt her lesson,' says her father
Kolkata Police arrested the 22-year-old influencer, Sharmishta, based on a 15 May FIR against her at the Garden Reach Police Station over a social media video. Panoli who was arrested on 31 May from Gurugram by Kolkata Police was released from jail Friday, a day after the Calcutta High Court granted her bail. New Delhi: A day before law student Sharmishta Panoli walked out of the Alipore Women's Correctional Home, her father had said she 'has learnt her lesson and will come out wiser'. Speaking to ThePrint over a call Thursday evening, only hours after her bail was granted, the father said, 'We tried to remain very low key on this and stayed away from politics, but after what happened in Gurgaon (Sharmishta's arrest), we think there is definitely a political undertone to this.' Sharmishta stands accused of hurting religious sentiments, promoting enmity on the grounds of religion, and intentional insults while talking about Operation Sindoor in a video she posted on her Instagram page. Following massive outrage over her post, she issued an unconditional apology on social media on 15 May. Attempting to explain what was at the root of the video posted and subsequently taken down by the young law student, her father pointed to the charged environment created by celebrity politicians on social media. 'Look at Kangana Ranaut, what does she say? Some Gen Z kids will talk like Kangana Ranaut. They need to draw a line somewhere—on what may be acceptable and what may not be,' Prithviraj Panoli said. 'Sharmishta has learnt her lesson and will come out wiser.' Before Sharmishta's arrest, the Kolkata Police said her family, along with her, was 'absconding'. The police claimed they sought an arrest warrant for Sharmishta from court after failing to locate her to serve her notices. Prithviraj Panoli, however, refuted the police claims. From 15-19 May, the Panoli family, multiple times, visited Lalbazar, the Kolkata Police headquarters, and the Anandapur police station, Prithviraj Panoli said. The family—he added—was attempting to lodge a complaint over threats Sharmishta was receiving. However, the police, according to him, did not inform them of any FIR against Sharmishta. 'We submitted printed copies of all the threats against us. So, there is documented evidence that we had been approaching the police,' said Panoli. The Panoli family is from Bangalore and currently lives in Kolkata. On the sequence of events before the arrest, Prithviraj Panoli told ThePrint, 'On 18 May, I was constantly in touch with the cops at both police stations, sharing all information, along with online threats we got. We approached a different police officer in the evening of 18 May, informing him that we feared for our safety and security.' Giving an instance of the chain of troubles the family has been facing since the video post, Sharmishta's father said, 'On my way back home, I saw seven to 10 people standing inside my society, looking at our tower.' According to the father, Sharmishta left Kolkata for Gurugram for a scheduled internship, starting 22 May, travelling, over the next few days, to her office in Delhi from her hotel inGurugram. Soon after the scare in the society, Prithviraj Panoli, along with other family members, also booked flight tickets to Gurguram. 'Till 25 May, I was in touch with the Lalbazar police,' Prithviraj Panoli said. 'I, at the same time, had asked her (Sharmishta) not to look at anything. We all had switched off our phones, but I was in touch with the police over WhatsApp. How can they say we were absconding?' 'We even asked the police if any FIR had been registered. By then, I had received threats via mail. If the police wanted to get in touch with us, they had our email IDs,' Prithviraj Panoli added. In the early morning of 31 May, the Kolkata Police arrested Sharmishta from her hotel in Gurugram. 'We could not do anything as there was a warrant,' said the father.
