New Caitlin Clark injury revealed as return timeline remains mystery
The Indiana Fever's superstar guard, who is working her way back from a groin injury and hasn't played since July 15, is now dealing with what is being labeled as a mild ankle injury that she suffered during an individual workout during her rehab.

With no timetable clear for Clark's return, it is unclear if the ankle injury will affect when she can return to the court.
Clark's injury issues are a part of a larger problem in Indiana, as the team also recently lost Sophie Cunningham (MCL tear), Sydney Colson (ACL tear) and Aari McDonald (broken foot) for the year.
While the Fever are not in danger of missing the postseason, sitting in sixth place in the league, they are no longer among the favorites to win the WNBA Finals as they were to begin the season.

Head coach Stephanie White told reporters that Clark's return to individual workouts doesn't necessarily mean she's close to returning.
'Until (Clark) can get into practice and until you guys see her in practice, we're really status quo,' White said.
'You never wanna see injuries happen, first and foremost,' White added, referring to Cunningham. 'You hate it when it's anyone, let alone the third season-ending injury that we've seen this year. But like I told our team … yes, we've been dealt a crappy hand, but we have to play it.'

Clark had not missed a college or professional game before this season, but has played in just 13 of 35 games this year after previously being sidelined with a quad injury and a prior left groin injury.
The Fever are 8-5 with Clark, while holding steady at 11-11 with her off the floor.

Clark is hoping to return by the time the playoffs roll around on Sept. 14.

Rory McIlroy makes ‘reluctant' confession after thrilling Masters win
Before adding a green jacket to his wardrobe in April, Rory McIlroy was under the impression he'd sport the coveted piece at every opportunity if he ever won the Masters. Now four months removed from his triumphant playoff victory at Augusta National, the Northern Irishman revealed Tuesday ahead of the Tour Championship that he's 'reluctant to wear' the iconic jacket. 'It's not as if I wear it a lot. I have it hanging in my wardrobe in a place where I can see it every day. I always thought if I had one — if I did win the Masters one day — I'd never have the thing off, and it hasn't been that way. I haven't worn it as much as I thought I would,' McIlroy said, according to the Associated Press. Advertisement 5 Rory McIlroy won his first Masters in April 2025. 'There were points in my career where I didn't know if I would have this nice garment over my shoulders,'' McIlroy said after the final round. 'I certainly didn't make it easy. I was nervous. It was one of the toughest days I've ever had on the golf course.' 5 Rory McIlroy had not won a major in 11 years until the April 2025 victory at Augusta National. He finished the weekend at 11-under par. 'A lot of pent-up emotion that just came out on that 18 green,'' McIlroy said. 'A moment like that makes all the years and all the close calls worth it. It's nearly 11 years — not just about winning my next major, but the career Grand Slam, trying to join a group of five players to do it, you know, watching a lot of my peers get green jackets in the process.' Although the 2026 Masters is still some time away, McIlroy is looking forward to defending his title with the green jacket in tow. 'It'll be lovely to next time go there and go up to the champions locker room and put on my green jacket and feel like I belong,' he said. 5 Rory McIlroy will compete at the Tour Championship this week in Atlanta. Pal of Bill Belichick's ex spills what really happened during Jordon Hudson holiday party confrontation
It's a good thing there was 'no hair-pulling' when Bill Belichick's ex, Linda Holliday, wanted his current girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, removed from a December holiday party in Nantucket. Elin Hilderbrand, a novelist and a friend of Holliday's, who was part of the group that asked Hudson to leave the event, explained that it was 'grossly inappropriate' for the 24-year-old former college cheerleader to be there as Holliday's twin daughters were DJing at the party. 'No punches were thrown, no hair was pulled,' Hilderbrand told The New Yorker in a lengthy timeline piece published Monday about Belichick's life and career. 'But we did suggest she leave because we thought it was grossly inappropriate for her to be there. 4 Bill Belichick and his girlfriend Linda Holliday are seen prior to the game against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium on November 15, 2015 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Getty Images 'Bill and Linda were together since the girls were, like, fourteen years old, and they thought of him as a father figure.' The UNC coach, 73, and Holliday, 62, a former TV personality and Nantucket socialite, were together for 16 years before their split in September 2023. Belichick and Hudson's relationship became public in June 2024. The pair met on a flight in 2021. 4 Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson. They agreed and left the event alongside an employee. Holliday declined to speak with The New Yorker. 4 New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick, right, waits with girlfriend, Linda Holliday, for the start of Game 6 of the NBA basketball finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics on Tuesday, June 17, 2008, in Boston. AP Holliday and Hudson's run-in made headlines months later in May. TMZ published an internal incident report that an employee filed at the event, which said Hudson 'was a paying guest' and that 'no concerns had been raised regarding her behavior nor had any issues been reported up until that point in the evening.' The report stated that Holliday 'felt [Hudson's] presence was inappropriate, since the event was widely advertised as a party headlined by her daughters.' 4 Author Elin Hilderbrand. Security footage showed Hudson surrounded by three women, including Holliday and Hilderbrand, who had confronted her near the dance floor. According to the incident report, Hudson refused to leave at first, saying she didn't do anything wrong, but then decided to exit the function as it was close to being over. Hudson told the employee that Sapini 'was seemingly threatened by Ms. Holliday, saying that if Ms. Sapini valued her current title, she should think twice about who her friends are and that she [Holliday] had many powerful friends in the pageant organization.' Holliday told the employee, 'If this didn't involve my girls, I don't think this would have bothered me as much. The 'momma bear' in me came out.' Earlier this month, Holliday and Hudson crossed paths at a fundraiser for Nantucket Cottage Hospital.

Why Petra Kvitova is retiring after one last US Open: ‘Totally different life'
It's time for Petra Kvitova. The two-time Wimbledon champ is retiring after the U.S. Open as her priorities have shifted since having a son with her husband, Jiri Vanek — who is also her coach — in July 2024. 'I'm ready to stop,' Kvitova, 35, told The Guardian. 'Mentally, I think I can't do it anymore, as well as emotionally and physically. Advertisement 'You still remember how you played before, how everything was smooth and I was hitting winners and suddenly it's not there. I'm totally ready [to retire]. I'm not regretting anything. I still love tennis but everything else, waiting for the practices, waiting for the car, waiting for a match, it's just tiring. And having a son, it's a totally different life. I just want to spend more time with him as well.' 3 Petra Kvitova is retiring after the U.S. Open. 'That was great, even though it was very tough to play tennis. I cried on the court, I had really bad flashbacks, I was having nightmares. So it really wasn't easy. It took a while, but it's all good now. There was a big question mark, can I play tennis or not? And I could. It was my second career. It was amazing.' Kvitova's ranking has now plummeted to 540, as she is just 1-7 this year including first-round losses at the French Open and Wimbledon. 3 Petra Kvitova playing at The Queen's Club in June 2025.
