A distraught woman at the govt hospital in Patancheru on Tuesday
HYDERABAD: Distraught and restless, several families continued their search for their loved ones for the second day at the govt hospital in Patancheru. Young and old relatives were seen rushing from one corner to the other hoping to find some information on their missing kin.
Among them was Laxman Mukhiya who had urgently flown in from Patna to look for his brother, Lakshmi Mukhiya. When TOI found him, he was giving his blood sample for DNA testing. "Officials have found a body with two thumbs. That could be my brother. But since the body is completely charred we cannot be sure without a DNA test," said Laxman. Lakshmi was an operator in production unit.
The 15-year-old son of M Praveen Kumar, who worked as deputy general manager at the firm, was also seen making his way through the crowd - along with his relatives - to find his father.
"We have been going between the accident site and the hospital since Monday evening. But there's no trace of him," said M Srinivas, Kumar's brother-in-law.

Originally from Vizianagaram, in AP, Kumar had been with the company for about a year. "My brother had two kids and his wife is a home-maker...He was the only breadwinner... I don't know what to say to his sister," a visibly upset Srinivas said.
At the accident site, TOI found G Chinna Rao waiting anxiously for any update on his 28-year-old son, G Venkatesh. "I spoke to my son on Sunday night. When I heard the news on Monday I tried to reach him, but his mobile was switched off. I rushed here from Srikakulam and am waiting for authorities to trace him," said Rao, still in shock. Venkatesh, a senior chemist in the quality assurance wing, was supposed to visit parents on Tuesday.

Who is Alina Habba? Trump's nominee for New Jersey's permanent US attorney

President Donald Trump nominates Alina Habba for full term, defends her record, New Jersey awaits Senate confirmation(Source: TOI) New Delhi: US President Donald Trump on Tuesday nominated his former campaign spokesperson and personal lawyer Alina Habba for a full four year tenure as New Jersey's US attorney. Habba was temporarily appointed to the post in March, who described the decision as 'a great pleasure' and praised her as someone who 'will fight tirelessly to secure a legal system that is both fair and just for the wonderful people of New Jersey.' Habba drew national attention earlier this year when she brought charges against Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, accusing him of trespassing at Delaney Hall, a privately operated federal immigration detention centre in Newark. However, the charges were later dropped. 'After extensive consideration, we have agreed to dismiss Mayor Baraka's misdemeanour charge of trespass for the sake of moving forward,' Habba said in a statement. However, in the same announcement on social media, she revealed that her office had filed charges against New Jersey Representative LaMonica McIver, alleging that she assaulted and impeded law enforcement officers at the same facility. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Stop Eating This — It's Fueling Sugar Spikes Daily Beauty Ideas Read More Undo As her 120-day interim term nears its conclusion, Habba will require Senate confirmation to continue as U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey on a permanent basis. Who is Alina Habba? Alina Habba, 41, has been among Trump's most prominent legal allies in recent years, representing him in several high-profile civil and criminal matters. She became counsel to Trump's Save America PAC in 2023 and later joined his inner circle as 'counsellor to the president.' Born in Summit, New Jersey, Habba graduated from the Kent Place School in 2002. She holds a bachelor's degree from Lehigh University and earned her law degree from Widener University Commonwealth Law School. Prior to her work with Trump, she specialised in civil litigation and corporate law in private practice. She also clerked for Judge Eugene J Codey Jr. at the Civil Division of the Superior Court in Newark and was formerly the managing partner at Habba Madaio & Associates in Bedminster. The incident took place on Tuesday in Mehus village when Praduman Kumar, the driver, was stopped at a junction after dropping off passengers. According to Kumar, Praveen Chandra Diwakar — the in-charge of Mehus police station—confronted him while in plain clothes, verbally abused him, and later asked him his caste. When Kumar replied, 'Brahmin," Diwakar allegedly responded, 'I don't even like to see people of the Brahmin caste," reported NDTV. The cop then spat on the ground and forced the driver to lick it. Kumar further alleged that he was beaten with a lathi nearly 50 to 60 times before being taken to the police station, where the assault continued. He is currently undergoing treatment at Sheikhpura Sadar Hospital. 'I work hard for my family every day. I can never forget what happened to me. I was beaten up just after asking my caste, made to lick spit. Is this humanity?" Kumar said. The incident came to light after Kumar informed local MLA Sudarshan Kumar, who has demanded a fair and immediate investigation. Residents also called for a case to be registered against the officer. Bihar Cop Asks Man His Caste, Then Forces Him To Lick His Spit

Sheikhpura: A police official assaulted an e-rickshaw driver and made him lick his spit after asking his caste in Bihar, officials said. The incident took place on Tuesday when the driver, Praduman Kumar, dropped his passengers in the Mehus village of the Sheikhpura district. While he was at an intersection, the police official, identified as Praveen Chandra Diwakar - Mehus police station in-charge - stopped and started abusing him, the driver said. According to him, Diwakar was riding a bike and was dressed in common clothes, so he could not recognise him as a cop initially. After a brief argument, Diwakar called a police vehicle and got the driver arrested. Before taking Kumar in the police vehicle, Diwaka beat him with a 'lathi' at least 50 to 60 times on the road, leaving the driver severely injured. The cop even tried to accuse the driver of drinking alcohol. But when he did not smell anything, Diwakar slammed the driver and took him to the police station, Kumar narrated. Upon reaching the police station, Diwakar abused him and beat him even more. He then asked the driver his caste. To this, Kumar said, "Brahmin". The cop responded, "I don't even like to see people of the Brahmin caste", spat on the ground, and made the driver lick it. The driver is currently undergoing treatment at the Sheikhpura Sadar Hospital. "I work hard for my family every day. I can never forget what happened to me. I was beaten up just after asking my caste, made to lick spit. Is this humanity?" Kumar said. Kumar informed local MLA Sudarshan Kumar of the incident, who has demanded immediate cognisance and impartial investigation from the administration. Locals have also demanded that a case be registered against the police official and that action be taken. "We have suspended the police officer after the allegations were found to be true in the investigation," Superintendent of Police, Baliram Chaudhary said. Diwakar, on the other hand, has called the allegations against him "baseless". According to him, the driver was "teasing girls".
