Derive full benefit from MGNREGS, farmers urged
The MLA inaugurated a fruit plantation programme under MGNREGS at Cherlopalli village of Ramagiri mandal. As part of the initiative, 280 fruit saplings were planted on a 4-acre farm belonging to a farmer named Koduru Rakesh. The event witnessed active participation from officials and local TDP leaders.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Sunitha stated that the MGNREGS is a boon for farmers. She criticised the previous government for allegedly discriminating in the allocation of scheme benefits based on political affiliations, questioning whether beneficiaries belonged to TDP or YSRCP.
In contrast, she asserted that the current government was delivering schemes to farmers without any political bias.
She informed that fruit plantation activities have been approved across 900 acres in Ramagiri, Chennekothapalli and Kanaganapalli mandals, and over 850 acres in Anantapur Rural, Atmakur, and Raptadu mandals. The government is covering the full cost, including transportation, at Rs64 per sapling.
Currently, the government is supplying mango and guava saplings. However, Sunitha encouraged farmers to invest in and plant other valuable fruit-bearing trees if they prefer. She advised them to care for the plants as if they were their own children, emphasising that these trees would support them in the future.
She urged all farmers to take full advantage of every component under the MGNREGS and use it for long-term agricultural benefit.

Tirumala: Tirumala police have registered a case against former YSRCP MLA and former CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's maternal uncle P Ravindranath Reddy for allegedly making political statements in Tirumala, in violation of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) board's resolution banning political speeches in the hill shrine. Reddy had visited the Lord Venkateswara temple on Sunday for darshan and later addressed the media outside the shrine. During the interaction, he reportedly criticised the ruling coalition and spoke about political developments in Kadapa district, including the Pulivendula ZPTC by-election. The TTD board, in a recent decision, prohibited political speeches and allegations within Tirumala to protect the sanctity of the temple. This ban applies to all public representatives and visitors alike. Following a written complaint from Vigilance Inspector V Damodar, Tirumala One Town police registered Crime No 47/2025 under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act. Police said they are reviewing the footage of Reddy's remarks. Sources indicated that a notice could soon be served to the former MLA, asking him to explain why legal action should not proceed for breaching the 'no politics in Tirumala' rule.

Today in Politics: Supreme Court to hear batch of petitions challenging Bihar SIR
With the Election Commission (SC) on Saturday informing the Supreme Court that it was not required by law to publish a list of electors whose names have been removed from the voter lists of Bihar, the apex court will on Tuesday hear a batch of pleas challenging the poll body's order to conduct a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the poll-bound state. A bench of Justices Surya Kant, Ujjal Bhuyan and N Kotiswar Singh last week said it would begin hearing these pleas on Tuesday. The Association For Democratic Reforms, which has challenged the June 24 order of the EC directing the SIR in Bihar, had last week filed a fresh application seeking direction to the poll panel to publish the names of around 65 lakh deleted voters with the mention whether they are dead, permanently migrated or not considered for any other reason. In its reply to the Association for Democratic Reforms' application, the EC said the draft roll had been published on the basis of the enumeration forms received and that 'no inquiry' had been done at this stage. In its reply filed late Saturday night, the commission cited the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, which say that a copy of the draft roll is to be made available for inspection outside the Electoral Registration Officer's office and the ERO is required to make each part of the draft accessible to the public in the respective areas, and give two copies to each recognised party. 'That it is an admitted position that the Respondent has complied with the aforestated obligations. It is submitted that the statutory framework does not require the Respondent to prepare or share any separate list of names of people not included in the draft electoral rolls, or publish the reasons for non-inclusion of anyone in the draft electoral rolls for any reason,' the EC said. Andhra local body polls With local body polls to be held in Andhra Pradesh's Pulivendula and Vontimitta on Tuesday, the Opposition YSRCP has accused Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu 'conspiring' against the party. Former minister V Srinivas alleged that Naidu was 'misusing police and TDP supporters to influence the outcome'.
