National Doctors' Day 2025: This year, nearly 23 lakh students registered for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) 2025 to pursue their dream of becoming doctor. With diverse family and economic backgrounds, students give their best shot to crack the exam. To uplift the financial burden of meritorious students, the government, NGOs and various private organisations have started to support the students by offering scholarships to eligible shortlisted students. Here's a list of some of the scholarships for MBBS aspirants. The Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Protsahan (PM-USP) Yojana is a Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students (PM-USP CSSS). The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to meritorious students from poor families to help cover their day-to-day expenses while pursuing higher studies. Selection is based on the results of the Higher Secondary and Class 12 board examination. A maximum of 82,000 fresh scholarships per annum are provided for students pursuing graduate or postgraduate degrees in colleges and universities, and for professional courses like medical and engineering. Students from reserved categories/weaker sections/minorities are eligible based on merit and the Central Reservation Policy. How to apply? All applications (fresh and renewal) must be submitted online through the National Scholarships Portal (NSP) at Student credentials, such as caste and educational qualifications, are verified using the DigiLocker facility. Scholarship disbursment Scholarships are disbursed directly into the beneficiaries' savings bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode. The rate of scholarship varies based on the course level and duration The ONGC Scholarship Scheme, an initiative by the ONGC Foundation, aimed at supporting meritorious students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. This scheme offers scholarships to students pursuing degrees in Engineering, MBBS, MBA, Geology, and Geophysics, specifically targeting those from SC/ST, OBC, and EWS categories. Eligibility The scholarship is available for meritorious students belonging to the SC/ST, OBC, and General (EWS) categories. Students must be pursuing specific courses, including engineering, MBBS, MBA, or Master's in Geology and Geophysics. For students in the OBC category, it is an opportunity for those studying in the first year of Engineering, MBBS, MBA, or pursuing a Master's in Geophysics/Geology. Similarly, for General Category students belonging to the Economically Weaker sections (EWS), the scholarship is for those studying in the first year of Engineering, MBBS, MBA, or pursuing a Master's in Geophysics/Geology programme. Scholarship Amount For meritorious OBC students selected under the 2019-20 batch, 500 students received a scholarship of Rs 48,000 each on an annual basis to complete their education, as mentioned on the official website. The AIPMST (Secondary) scholarship examination is a pre-medical entrance exam for students aspiring to study MBBS, BDS, BHMS, BAMS, and BUMS courses. Depending on the scores achieved in the test, students are given scholarships. Scholarship Amount –Section A: For 1000 eligible candidates who achieve a mark of≥ 90%, the scholarship awarded is a 2-year tuition fee. –Section B: For 5000 eligible candidates who obtain 80% ≤ Marks ≥ 90%, the scholarship awarded is a one-year tuition fee. –Section C: For 10000 eligible candidates who obtain 70% ≤ Marks ≥ 80%, the scholarship awarded is a standard laptop. –Section D: For 1000 eligible candidates who obtain < 70% marks, the scholarship awarded is also a Standard Laptop Additionally, candidates who are not eligible to take admission in MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BUMS, BHMS can apply for AIPMST Primary for health science courses to receive admission and scholarship in AIPMST Primary participating colleges. Vidyavridhi Medical Scholarship programme, an initiative by the Yashoda Foundation, the charitable arm of the Yashoda Hospitals Group. This scholarship offers financial support to deserving medical students pursuing an MBBS degree in Hyderabad, covering tuition fees and providing additional funds ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000 annually for four academic years. The program aims to assist financially disadvantaged students, selecting ten new students each year and allowing for scholarship renewal. The application process requires applicants to complete a 'New Student Registration Form' online, providing personal, family, and educational details, and to have various documents, including academic scores and income certificates.
