Mhaiskar and his accomplice killed Swapnil Gosavi, 32, a resident of Hudco Colony, at 10.45pm on Monday near a food kiosk on Nara Road, under the jurisdiction of Jaripatka Police Station. According to the police, the incident began when Gosavi was riding his motorcycle past the eatery. Gosavi also had two cases against him, including one for molestation and another for assault last year.
Mhaiskar, along with his accomplices Ravi Banerjee, 27, Bhupesh Wanjari, and others, were drinking beside the road after the owner asked them to leave the eatery for creating a ruckus.
Police said the owner has installed CCTVs outside the eatery.
The confrontation was triggered after Gosavi drove his bike too close to Banerjee. An angered Banerjee stopped Gosavi and slapped him. Gosavi too attacked Banerjee. As Mhaiskar joined the brawl, Gosavi overpowered him as well as Banerjee and Wanjari. The three assailants then used stones to assault Gosavi.
In a fit of rage, Mhaiskar and others struck Gosavi on the head and body with stones, causing fatal injuries. Gosavi was rushed to Mayo Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The Jaripatka police have apprehended the assailants, including Mhaiskar, Banerjee, and Wanjari. Except for Banerjee, the rest of the assailants had previous case histories.

Maharashtra police extern two criminals from Ambad & Deolali; action taken to curb threats & maintain public order
NASHIK: The Nashik city Police have two criminals externed offenders from the Ambad and Deolali Camp areas. The criminals identified as Rutik Raktate (23) and Bhimrao Dangle (40), have been removed from the city for repeated criminal activity. Raktate, a resident of the Cidco-Ambad area, has four criminal cases registered against him. Dangle has three cases involving bodily harm and property offences. Both were reportedly involved in incidents of threatening people with sharp weapons and physical assault. Raktate has been externed for two years, while Dangle has been externed for one year. In a bid to ensure public peace and law and order in society, Commissioner of Police Sandeep Karnik directed senior officers to take strict preventive action against known criminals, including externment or booking them under laws such as the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities (MPDA) Act and the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). Following these directions, DCP (Zone 2) Kishor Kale instructed ACPs and senior officers to review the records of repeat offenders and propose preventive actions to curb their criminal behaviour. Police officials said that such actions will continue to ensure the safety and peace of the public.

Two senior citizens killed in separate hit-and-run cases
Nagpur: Two elderly men were killed in separate hit-and-run incidents in the city on Saturday morning. Dayaldas Dhanrajani (72), of Hira Nagar, Jaripatka, was riding a scooter when he was hit by a speeding car near Bhim Chowk at around 5.45am. Dhanrajani sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Mayo Hospital, where he was declared dead. Based on a complaint by his son Jayakumar Dhanrajani, a case has been registered at Jaripatka police station. Security guard Mohammad Bashir Wazir (70), a resident of Shesh Nagar, was patrolling at a construction site near Hasanbagh Road when a truck hit him at around 8.10am killing him at the spot. Three minors among five held for vandalising 25 vehicles in Pune's Dhankawadi
Pune city police have arrested two youths aged 19 and 21 and detained three minors aged 16 and 17 in connection to an incident in which a group of miscreants had gone on rampage in Dhankawadi area of Pune in the early hours of Wednesday brandishing weapons and damaging 25 vehicles vehicles including school vans. The incident had taken place between 1 am and 1.30 am on Wednesday at three locations in Dhankawadi including Keshav Complex, Sarasvati Chowk and Navnath Nagar. The probe had revealed suspects who vandalised and damaged vehicles with weapons they had. They allegedly damaged at least 25 vehicles at three locations which are within 500 meters of each other. The group ended up with vehicles including 15 auto rickshaws, three cars, two school vans, a tempo and some bikes. A team from the detection branch of the Sahakar Nagar police station received crucial input that a history sheeter identified as Rohit Adhav was involved in the crime. A team received a tip off that Adhav was coming to the Navale Bridge area. A trap was laid and Rohit Adhav (21), a resident of Kirkatwadi was arrested along with his accomplice Sudhir Bappu Sawant (19), a resident of Goravi Vasti in Nanded City area. Questioning of the arrested duo gave police the names of their minor accomplices. The three minors — one aged 16 and two aged 17 — were detained. 'Investigation has revealed that the group went on rampage over a petty dispute with their friend living in the area. The two arrested accused have been remanded to police custody and three minors have been remanded to observation home.' said Senior Inspector Vitthal Pawar of Sahakarnagar. In a worrying pattern in the case of vehicle vandalism in the city, the year 2024 witnessed a sharp rise in these cases. From 35 cases in 2022 and 53 in 2023, the number cases of vehicle vandalism by local gangs had jumped to 89 in 2024. This had prompted the Crime Branch to conduct a thorough data based analysis of these cases. One of the first results of the study was identification of key hotpots for the cases of vehicle vandalism. Police identified that of the 89 cases reported in 2024, majority cases came from Sahakar Nagar, Parvati, Yerawada, Hadapsar, Kondhwa and Wanawadi police jurisdictions. Of the total of 156 accused identified in 89 cases of 2024, 52 were minors, accounting for a third of the total perpetrators. Police had also found out that 95 per cent of these minor accused had no criminal records prior to the particular vehicle vandalism cases they were booked for. Further, of all other adult accused, only 25 per cent had prior criminal records. Police had initiated a string of policing and sensitisation efforts in these areas in response to the outcomes of the study. The police had intensified the action against these miscreants under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Slumlords, Bootleggers, Drug Offenders and Dangerous Persons Act, 1981 also known as MPDA or Gunda Act.
