MPPSC releases revised exam schedule for 2025
Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission
(MPPSC) on Thursday issued a revised schedule for several upcoming examinations to be held in 2025. While the dates for most exams scheduled in the coming months have been finalised, the much-awaited State Service Main Examination-2025 will be rescheduled and announced separately, following the final decision of the court as the matter is sub judice.
As per the notification, the State Engineering Services Examination-2024 (covering Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical disciplines) along with the Assistant Director (Culture) Examination-2024 will be conducted on August 24, 2025. The Deputy Director, Principal Class-2, and Assistant Director Technical Examination-2024 (under the Technical Education Department) is scheduled for September 21, 2025.
Further, the Mineral Officer Examination-2024 (Mineral Department) will be held on September 28, 2025, followed by a combined exam for Dental, Dentist, and Assistant Research Officer posts in various departments on October 12, 2025.
Candidates aspiring for the Assistant Manager (Public Health & Mechanical Department) and Assistant Registrar (Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion Department) posts can appear on November 23, 2025.
The Food Safety Officer Examination-2025 will be conducted on December 14, 2025, and the Transport Sub Inspector Exam-2025 is slated for December 28, 2025. MPPSC has also clarified in the notification that the announced dates are tentative and subject to change depending on administrative needs and court directives.

At least 65 families from India and the United Kingdom who lost kin in the horrific June 12 Air India plane crash have hired prominent United States-based law firm Beasley Allen . He urged the Union government to release the data of the flight data recorder as well as cockpit voice recorder so that lawyers and experts can analyse it and explore further legal options. Live Events On June 12, Air India flight AI 171 , a Boeing 787-8 aircraft en route to London Gatwick, crashed into a medical hostel complex shortly after take off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The aircraft burst into flames, killing 241 out of 242 people onboard and 19 individuals on the ground, including four medical students. "We visited the crash site and spoke with some of the individuals who were there. We were able to take some photographs and get a feeling of the size of the scene. We met families from the UK and India, and they all expressed their burning desire for answers, for transparency and information," said Andrews. According to his media team, the majority of those 65 families from India and UK hail from Gujarat and neighbouring Diu. "We currently represent 65 families who are citizens of both India and the UK. Legal options are based on the data and what investigations reveal. It will give us an idea which entity may or may not be responsible. If Boeing is found to be responsible for this crash, we anticipate the cases will be filed in the Federal court in the US," said Andrews. He asserted the best place to hold companies accountable is in the USA using product liability laws available there. "The US legal system is set up in a way that an individual, a consumer or family, can stand on a level playing field with a multinational firm such as Boeing, look them in the eye and request accountability," he claimed. "We don't know whose error was that. The allegation is that a switch was removed. A very small piece of information has been released from the cockpit voice recorder. What we don't know is the larger context, what other conversations were held between the pilots. Once we have data, we will know that," he added. Andrews claimed a report suggesting pilot error in the crash was a "narrative typically originated from the manufacturer and its an attempt to deflect focus from their product". When asked if Indian pilots are purposefully blamed in this case, he said, "Not just Indian pilots, more often than not, pilots who are dead are the ones who are blamed. In other incidents wherein planes landed safely, those pilots were not blamed, because those pilots can speak for themselves." He emphasised that until the data of the crash is made available, it is difficult to find out what exactly happened and whether something has been hidden intentionally. "Families want data to be released to their attorneys and experts. We know Air India and the Indian government have this information. It is time to reveal that data so that experts can help families understand," he said. From Vadodara, Andrews will travel to Surat and then to Diu to meet the families who have agreed to pursue the case. Before leaving for the United Kingdowm , he will visit Ahmedabad and meet the kin of the victims, said his team. PTI

Centre launches subsidised tomato sale at Rs 47-60/kg in Delhi as prices spike due to rains
The Centre on Friday announced the subsidised retail sale price of tomatoes in the range of Rs 47-60 per kg in the national capital through the National Cooperative Consumers' Federation of India ( NCCF ), to provide relief to buyers. The NCCF, which has been procuring tomatoes from Azadpur mandi since August 4, is retailing them with minimal margins, the consumer affairs ministry said. Retail sales are being conducted through NCCF's stationary outlets at Nehru Place, Udyog Bhawan, Patel Chowk, and Rajiv Chowk, as well as through 6-7 mobile vans operating at various locations across the city. The ministry said tomato prices have spiked temporarily in Delhi due to rains, but the all-India average remains stable. The current average retail price of tomatoes in Delhi at Rs 73 per kg is primarily due to heavy rainfall in northern and north-western regions since the last week of July. "This weather-related disruption caused prices to spike to as high as Rs 85 per kg by the end of July," the ministry said in a statement. However, with the recovery and stabilisation of daily arrivals at Azadpur mandi over the past week, both mandi and retail prices have begun to decline. The retail prices at various centres across the country are influenced by temporary localised factors rather than any fundamental demand-supply imbalance or production shortfall, the ministry noted. In contrast, major cities such as Chennai and Mumbai, which have not experienced abnormal weather conditions in recent weeks, have not witnessed a similar price surge. The current average retail prices in Chennai and Mumbai are Rs 50 per kg and Rs 58 per kg, respectively - substantially lower than Delhi's prevailing price. At present, the all-India average retail price of tomato is Rs 52 per kg, which is lower than Rs 54 per kg last year and Rs 136 per kg in 2023. Unlike previous years, prices of major vegetables like potato, onion and tomato are under control this monsoon season , the ministry said. For potato and onion, higher production in 2024-25 over the previous year ensures sufficient supply and substantially lower retail prices compared to last year. This year, the government has procured 3 lakh tonnes of onion for price stabilisation buffer. "Calibrated and targeted release of onions from the buffer is expected to start from September," the ministry said. Food commodity prices have largely remained stable and well-contained throughout the current calendar year. As of August 8, prices of most commodities monitored by the ministry are exhibiting either a stable or declining trend on a year-on-year basis. The reported 14 per cent decrease in the cost of a homemade thali in July 2025 further reflects the continued moderation of food inflation during the month.
