The Indian men's cricket team is in Manchester these days for the fourth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, which is scheduled to take place at Old Trafford from July 23 to 27. Ahead of the much-awaited game, Indian players got a chance to meet with players of Manchester United Football Club.
In several pictures shared on Instagram first by Adidas' official handle and then by BCCI, the likes of Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant can be seen playing football with the Red Devils, whereas star Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj can be seen bowling to former Man Utd captain and star defender Harry Maguire.
Manchester United players have rejoined the squad for the preseason, and on Sunday they got a chance to interact with Indian cricket stars.
In several pictures going viral on the internet, Gill can be seen posing for a photo with Bruno Fernandes, Siraj with Amad Diallo, Jasprit Bumrah chatting with Mason Mount and Harry Maguire, and India's head coach Gautam Gambhir posing for a photo with Red Devils manager Ruben Amorim.
In the 2025-26 edition of the Premier League, 20-time champions Manchester United will open their campaign on August 17 at home against Arsenal.
Must-win game for India
The fourth Test of the Anderson-Trophy Trophy at Old Trafford in Manchester is a must-win for the Shubman Gill-led side. If the visitors lose the match in Manchester next week or it ends in a draw, then India's chances of winning a Test series in England after 18 years will be over.
For the fourth Test at Old Trafford, world No. 1 Test bowler Jasprit Bumrah is expected to feature in the playing XI. It was reported earlier this week that Bumrah will miss the game as part of his workload management, but after injuries to Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh, the dynamics have changed significantly, and now there are more chances of Bumrah's participating than skipping.
It will, however, be interesting to see if Rishabh Pant makes it to the playing XI as wicketkeeper-batter. Pant suffered a finger injury on Day 1 of the Lord's Test, and due to that, he didn't keep in the red-ball match at the Home of Cricket after 34 overs in the first innings.

Anfield pays heartfelt tribute to Diogo Jota and Andre Silva at Liverpool vs Bournemouth game; check details

Liverpool Football Club and its fans came together to honour the memory of Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva during the Premier League opener against AFC Bournemouth. The emotional tributes were held in the wake of the brothers' tragic passing in a car accident in northern Spain in July. Before the match kicked off, Anfield observed a minute's silence to commemorate Diogo Jota, aged 28, and Andre Silva, aged 25. The silence was a solemn moment for the Liverpool community to reflect on the loss of two beloved figures. Fans, players, and staff stood together, united in grief and respect. This gesture extended beyond Anfield, with all Premier League matches that weekend holding moments of silence and players wearing black armbands in solidarity. The Kop and Sir Kenny Dalglish Stand became canvases for tributes as supporters unveiled striking mosaics displaying DJ 20 and AS 30. These designs, representing Jota's number 20 shirt and Silva's age, were a powerful visual reminder of their impact. As the mosaics rose, fans sang 'You'll never walk alone,' followed by the chant, 'Oh he wears the number 20,' echoing through the stadium. Liverpool fans make a display in the stands in memory of Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva before the match before the match. Liverpool's players paid their respects on the pitch, wearing shirts and stadium jackets adorned with a Forever 20 emblem, a tribute that will remain throughout the season. Notably, the club also made the significant decision to retire Jota's number 20 shirt, a move finalized after consultations with Jota's wife, Rute Cardoso, and family. T In his programme notes, manager Arne Slot stated, 'We know that this will be a very emotional occasion. The tributes that have been paid throughout the football world, and especially within the LFC community, have been truly special.' He emphasized the club's ongoing support for Jota's family, adding, 'It is important that, as a club, we show that they will always have our love and support as they deal with this most tragic of situations. We are there for them always.' The tributes extended beyond Liverpool, with Jota's former club, Wolverhampton Wanderers, planning their own homage during their season opener against Manchester. On July 3, 2025, Diogo Jota, 28, and his brother Andre Silva, 25, lost their lives in a car crash on the A-52 motorway in Zamora, Spain. The accident occurred when the Lamborghini Huracan, reportedly driven by Jota, veered off the road and burst into flames after a rear tire burst during an overtaking maneuver. Jota was on his way to Santander to catch a ferry to the UK, advised against flying due to a recent lung procedure. The crash site, near Cernadilla, showed tire marks and a destroyed guardrail, with the vehicle found charred.

Isaiah Bond's earlier lawsuit says accuser demanded $5K after 'pursuing and preying' on him for months

(AP Photo/George Walker IV) Isaiah Bond's NFL career hasn't even started yet, and he's already been through the kind of headline storm most players hope to avoid forever. Days after a Texas grand jury cleared him of sexual assault charges, the rookie wide receiver isn't just walking away quietly, he's telling his side of the story. In a federal complaint, Bond says he was 'pursued and preyed upon for months' by a woman he met on Instagram , and that she demanded $5,000 before taking her allegations to the police. Isaiah Bond's federal complaint claims he was the target, not the aggressor According to Bond's filing, things started online, with months of messages from the woman who would later accuse him. The two eventually met in person on February 4 at his apartment, where Bond says they had a consensual sexual encounter. Not long after, she allegedly warned him to 'be careful not to catch a case.' That's not where it ended, Bond claims she then demanded $5,000 in cash before going to the police. In his version of events, this was never about justice, but about money and leverage. Bond's legal battle escalated in April, when a warrant was issued for his arrest and he turned himself in, posting a $25,000 bond to walk free. But the criminal case never reached trial. In August, a Collin County grand jury issued what's known as a 'no bill,' meaning they found no probable cause to indict him. For Bond, that was the green light to move forward without a legal cloud hanging overhead. Cleveland Browns bring Isaiah Bond in despite the noise The Cleveland Browns wasted no time. Just days after the grand jury's decision, Bond announced he was signing with the team as an undrafted free agent. Predictably, the internet had thoughts. Some fans welcomed him as a fresh talent who deserved a chance, while others weren't ready to forget the accusations, regardless of the legal outcome. One Browns fan podcast even jumped in, saying people should cool it with the hate, reminding everyone that Bond had filed his own complaint and wasn't just on defense. Cases like this hit differently in sports. Big names often face accusations that play out publicly before they ever reach a courtroom, and by then, the public has already decided who's guilty or innocent. Bond's decision to go on offense with a federal filing is rare, but it shows he's not willing to let the narrative roll over him. For now, the criminal matter is closed but the court of public opinion? That's still wide open. Soccer-Jota remembered by Liverpool in emotional tribute at season opener

By Lori Ewing HT Image LIVERPOOL, England, Aug 15 (Reuters) - Emotional Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah buried his face in his hands as the Anfield crowd gave a heart-wrenching rendition of "You'll Never Walk Alone" in tribute to beloved forward Diogo Jota ahead of the Premier League season-opener on Friday. The reigning champions honoured the Portugal forward with a minute's silence before the kick-off against Bournemouth as Jota's death in a car crash alongside his brother Andre Silva last month cast a sombre cloud over the pre-game proceedings. The players stood arm-in-arm with heads bowed, while fans wiped away tears and the words "Rest in peace Diogo Jota and Andre Silva, you'll never walk alone," were displayed around the pitch. Liverpool manager Arne Slot reflected on how the squad had coped following the death of their teammate. "The squad is far better than I expected five or six weeks ago," the Dutchman told Sky Sports before kick-off. "At the moment in time you feel, will it ever be possible to play again or will it ever be possible to get them going again? "But as I said many times they have conducted themselves so, so well in that period of time, when we first heard the news (about Jota's death) and afterwards. "On both sides they were great. As human beings but also they understood that they needed to be professional footballers again so we had to work hard and that is what they started doing." Jota scarves and banners dotted the crowd, while "Diogo" shirts dominated those worn by fans pouring into the stadium. Fans in two stands held placards that spelt out "DJ 20" and "AS 30" in Portugal's red, green and white colours. The Liverpool players will wear a "Forever 20" emblem on their shirts this season, while the club has retired Jota's No. 20 shirt across all levels of the club, including the women's team and academy, after consultation with Jota's family. After 20 minutes and 20 seconds of Friday's game, the Anfield crowd stood and cheered and sang their Jota song, set to the tune of Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Bad Moon Rising".
