Some interesting player comps for Jayden Daniels and other second-year QBs
Speculation is rampant concerning Commanders' QB Jayden Daniels and the other second-year NFL quarterbacks.
Pro Football Focus produced this week their projections for the NFL rookie class of quarterbacks from 2024. The question they posed was what the ceiling and floor would be for these second-year quarterbacks. The ceiling for Jayden Daniels was extremely high, and it is no doubt that the Commanders would love for Daniels to have a year similar to what Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson has enjoyed, resulting in multiple NFL Most Valuable Player awards.

Here is the PFF List, and where they were drafted in 2024:
Caleb Williams, Chicago Bears (1 overall)
Ceiling - Jordan Love, Floor - Bust
Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders (2 overall)
Ceiling - Lamar Jackson, Floor - Kyler Murray
Drake Maye, New England Patriots (3 overall)
Ceiling - Trevor Lawrence, Floor - Daniel Jones
Michael Penix Jr, Atlanta Falcons (8 overall)
Ceiling - Justin Herbert, Floor - Jameis Winston
Ceiling - Joe Burrow, Floor - Sam Darnold
Bo Nix, Denver Broncos (12 overall)
Ceiling - Drew Brees, Floor - Mac Jones
PFF is already ready to think Caleb Williams might be a bust this soon? With Ben Johnson as his head coach?
Both comps for Jayden Daniels are also very much extremely quick, mobile quarterbacks. Daniels did lead the Commanders in rushing with 891 yards. More importantly, his TD/INT ratio was 25:9, and while passing for 3,568 yards, he also completed 69 percent of his passes.
Drake Maye's ceiling may say more about how PFF views Trevor Lawrence and Daniel Jones.
Interestingly, both comps for Michael Penix, Jr., are also guys who can really throw the ball down the field.
Seeing that he never played a down last year, and will be taking his first NFL regular season snaps this season, what evidence did PFF have to suggest the ceiling for J.J. McCarthy would be one of the NFL's top passers, Joe Burrow? In addition, Sam Darnold had his career-best year last year, and that is McCarthy's floor?
All the other ceilings were current NFL quarterbacks. Perhaps PFF simply is trying to be cute because Sean Payton coached both Brees and Nix?

Oregon Offense Preview 2025: The Ducks Are In Full Reload Mode - And They'll Be Just Fine
Oregon sure has the offense right under Dan might be a defensive coach by trade, but Will Stein has been a whale of an offensive coordinator from the start three seasons ago. Last year's Duck attack was No. 1 in the Big Ten in total offense, averaged 35 points per game, and has scored 31 points or more in 25 of 28 games - and one of them was when the team took it easy against Idaho - over the last two a whole lot of work to do personnel-wise, but there wasn't a problem finding great players through the portal, the system is still sound, and it should all keep on going if … X CFN, Fiu | CFN Facebook | Bluesky Fiu, CFN2025 Oregon Preview Oregon Defense BreakdownSeason Prediction, Win Total, Keys to Season- Try this for a quarterback lineage - Justin Herbert, Tyler Shough, Anthony Brown, Bo Nix, Dillon Gabriel. CBS Sports predicts two Steelers to have breakout seasons in 2025
Two unsung Steelers from the 2023 NFL Draft are expected to have their breakout years in 2025. According to CBS Sports' Chris Trapasso, Steelers CB Cory Trice and TE Darnell Washington are two of the third-year players most likely to break out this season — and for good reason. Advertisement Trapasso has high expectations for Trice in 2025, predicting that if the third-year corner can stay healthy, he could eventually start outside opposite Joey Porter Jr. While this would obviously force veteran CB Darius Slay Jr. into the slot, the switch may prove beneficial for the 34-year-old corner in the long run. As for Washington's predicted breakout, Trapasso sees the big-bodied Steeler becoming a Marcedes Lewis-esque tight end for Aaron Rodgers — serving as a solid red zone option as well. Trice and Washington both flashed moments of greatness last season and have more than exceeded expectations based on where they were drafted — but the same can't be said for former 2023 first-rounder OT Broderick Jones, who's staring down a make-or-break year in 2025.
