Timothée Chalamet becomes global brand ambassador for Saudi Arabia-backed EV maker, Lucid motors
Saudi-backed electric vehicle maker Lucid Motors has surprised both the film world and auto industry by naming Timothée Chalamet, one of Hollywood's most distinctive and influential actors as the new face of the brand in a first-of-its-kind, multi-year deal.
Announced with visually striking campaign teasers, this partnership marks Chalamet's first role as a Global Brand Ambassador in the automotive sector and underscores Lucid's growing effort to expand its cultural relevance beyond the EV market.
A Strategic Collaboration Rooted in Shared Values
Lucid Group, Inc. headquartered in Newark, California, revealed on July 29, 2025, that award-winning actor Timothée Chalamet will serve as its first-ever Global Brand Ambassador under a multi-year agreement.
The collaboration is a cornerstone of Lucid's marketing strategy aimed at deepening its cultural relevance.
Chalamet was first seen driving a Lucid Air in 2023, sparking what eventually became a formal relationship. Lucid notes that the partnership is built on shared ideals of performance, design, and passion, values both Chalamet and the company view as critical to creating exceptional experiences.
Akerho "AK" Oghoghomeh, Lucid's Senior Vice President of Marketing, emphasized the significance of the move:
'We're excited to welcome Timothée as our first Global Brand Ambassador. He brings together the same fearless creativity and uncompromising vision that defines our brand, embodying what it means to compromise nothing, both on and off screen. Together, we'll show what's possible when innovation and cultural relevance come together to move the world forward.'
Campaign Preview: Chalamet and the
Lucid Gravity
The partnership will come to life later this year when Chalamet headlines Lucid's upcoming marketing campaign for its new SUV model, the Lucid Gravity.

As a full-size, three-row electric SUV, the Gravity is engineered to combine the utility of a large family vehicle with the driving experience of a luxury sports car.
The visual direction of the campaign draws on cinematic influences. Promotional images feature Chalamet in the 2026 Lucid Gravity Grand Touring, captured against a desert landscape evocative of his role in the "Dune" series. Dressed in a leather jacket, white tee, and black trousers, Chalamet's understated style mirrors the sleek sophistication Lucid is known for.
The campaign marks Chalamet's debut in the automotive sector. Known for his highly selective approach to brand partnerships, the actor has previously fronted campaigns for fashion houses such as Chanel and Cartier. However, this collaboration with Lucid stands out for its more personal connection. Lucid notes that Chalamet was publicly seen driving a Lucid Air in 2023, well before any formal partnership, indicating an organic, authentic alignment with the brand's values.
The full campaign is scheduled to launch in early fall, with more information to follow.
Chalamet's Cultural Influence and Recent Accolades
Chalamet's public profile has continued to grow, both on screen and off. His film career includes leading roles in critically acclaimed projects such as
Dune
,
Wonka
, and
A Complete Unknown
, in which he portrayed Bob Dylan. That performance earned him his first Screen Actors Guild Award earlier this year. He has also received two Academy Award nominations.
Off-screen, Chalamet's cultural footprint includes his fashion-forward appearances in head-to-toe Chrome Hearts, his highly publicized relationship with beauty entrepreneur Kylie Jenner, and his New York Knicks fandom. His selective approach to brand endorsements adds weight to his role with Lucid.
Next, Chalamet will appear in Josh Safdie's
Marty Supreme
, set for release later this year, and will reprise his role in
Dune: Part Three
, directed by Denis Villeneuve, due in 2026.
Lucid's Expanding Legacy and Historic Record
Founded in 2016, Lucid has built a reputation for redefining what electric vehicles can be. Its debut product, the Lucid Air, is widely recognized for its innovation across performance, comfort, and range. The vehicle is an award-winning flagship sedan that helped establish Lucid as one of the most critically acclaimed EV companies globally.
In July 2025, Lucid made headlines by setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest distance ever traveled by an electric vehicle on a single charge.
The Lucid Air Grand Touring model drove 1,205 kilometers (approximately 749 miles) from St. Moritz, Switzerland, to Munich, Germany, outpacing its previous record of 1,045 kilometers by 160 kilometers.
Though headquartered in California, Lucid's long-term growth strategy is closely tied to
Saudi Arabia
, where the Public Investment Fund (PIF) holds a 60% stake in the company. The EV maker is a critical part of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 industrial roadmap.

Radio legend James Whale dies at 74 after battle with cancer
Source: X Veteran radio host and TalkTV presenter James Whale has died at the age of 73. Best known for his trailblazing style and outspoken presence on air, Whale passed away on Monday morning after entering hospice care. In the days leading up to his death, he had spoken openly about feeling 'at peace' with what lay ahead. His wife, Nadine, confirmed the news, telling the Express: "James slipped away very gently this morning. It was a beautiful passing and he left with a smile on his face." Whale's death was first announced on TalkTV, where colleague Mike Graham paid tribute to his long-standing legacy in British broadcasting. 'James began his remarkable career in the early 1970s when he pioneered a new kind of radio in Britain, the late night shock jock phone-in,' Graham said. He continued: 'By the late 1980s, The James Whale Radio Show had become a cultural phenomenon, broadcasting every weekend on ITV. He attracted millions of viewers, making him a household name. James would go on to host a variety of programmes for ITV, Sky and the BBC before finding a new audience for talk radio, all the while continuing to make headlines during his appearance on Celebrity Big Brother.' Source: X Graham also highlighted Whale's contributions beyond broadcasting: 'In 2006, after surviving kidney cancer, James launched Kidney Cancer UK, raising hundreds of thousands of pounds. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like This Is Why Smart People Put Baking Soda in Their Shampoo Read More Undo In 2024, James was awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours, recognising his extraordinary contribution to broadcast and charity. 'James Whale broke the rules, he shaped the airwaves, and did it all on his own terms. For millions, James wasn't just a broadcaster. He was a companion, a provocateur, and a good friend that we'll all never forget. God bless you, James. We'll miss you.' Fellow TalkTV host Jeremy Kyle also paid tribute, saying: 'He was an absolute fearless legend, a man who believed that it was about people. Believed it was about opinion. Never shied away from being brave enough to say what he felt.' Whale's death came just hours after a final column was published in which he shared: 'I'm happy to go.' James Whale's cancer journey James Whale's battle with cancer began in 2000, when he was first diagnosed with kidney cancer. At the time, doctors gave him just three months to live. As per Daily Mail, he underwent surgery to remove one of his kidneys, and the operation proved successful. In 2006, he founded the James Whale Fund for Kidney Cancer to raise awareness and support research. Tragically, the disease returned in 2020. He later revealed that it had spread, not only to his remaining kidney, but also to his lungs, spine, and brain. Source: X Speaking on TalkTV with Ash Gould in May 2024, Whale said: "I'm at the end of my cancer journey. There is no treatment I can have anymore." He added, "I can't tell you how grateful I am to Talk to actually let me on the air and sit next to Ash, which is a real pain in the butt, but I've been doing it for 25 years!" He also described the toll the illness had taken on him following a severe bout of flu that led to an ICU stay over Christmas. Despite it all, he kept his sense of humor, remarking. In June, he gave viewers a further update, saying: "Until very recently, everything was quite normal for me, everything was fine, and then you do get to a stage like I am now, where things get to be very very difficult. To anybody else who is in the final stages of cancer, you have my sympathy. I know exactly what you're going through, I do know. I look basically okay, I get told you look alright and I look okay, it's all make-up. " James Whale was candid about the emotional weight of terminal illness. Just two years after losing his first wife, Melinda, to lung cancer, he learned his own cancer had returned. Speaking to TalkTV, he recalled the moment of diagnosis: "I came home, had a little think about things. I decided I'm just booking myself a trip to Dignitas. You might as well just go and get it over with." He added: "I'd looked into it quite some time ago because Melinda died two years ago and it's been something in the back of my mind. This little b*****d has spread. It's in my remaining kidney. I've got a couple of small lesions in my lungs. I've got it in my spine. I've got it in my brain." Despite his strength, he never shied away from admitting the pain and fatigue he felt. 'I don't want to go on forever feeling like this,' he once said. James Whale is survived by his wife Nadine and his two sons, James and Peter.

Currency watch: Rupee drops 48 paise to 87.66 against dollar; FII outflows, tariff worries drag
AI image The rupee plunged 48 paise to close at 87.66 against the US dollar on Monday, weighed down by persistent foreign fund outflows, global trade concerns, and rising dollar demand from oil importers. The Indian currency opened at 87.21 and touched an intraday low of 87.73 at the interbank foreign exchange market before settling 48 paise lower from its previous close of 87.18. On Friday, the rupee had staged a sharp rebound of 47 paise, PTI reported. Forex traders attributed the pressure to renewed fears over a wider trade disruption after US President Donald Trump's tariff measures resurfaced. Demand from oil marketing companies also added to the rupee's weakness. 'We expect the rupee to remain weak amid uncertainty over the India-US trade deal and foreign institutional investor (FII) outflows,' said Anuj Choudhary, Research Analyst, commodities and currencies, Mirae Asset Sharekhan. 'However, weakness in the US dollar amid chatter over rate cut expectations in the US due to weak economic data may support the rupee at lower levels,' he added. Choudhary expects the USD-INR pair to trade in a range of 87.40 to 88. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Bogota: Unsold Furniture Liquidation 2024 (Prices May Surprise You) Unsold Furniture | Search Ads Learn More Undo Traders are now eyeing factory order data from the US and the Reserve Bank of India's upcoming monetary policy. The six-member Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), chaired by RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra, began its three-day meeting on Monday. The outcome of the rate decision will be announced on Wednesday. Brent crude futures fell 1.06% to $68.93 per barrel as OPEC+ confirmed a production hike from September, while softening demand expectations in the US and tariff risks also weighed. The US dollar index, which measures the greenback's strength against six major currencies, was down 0.37% at 98.77. Dilip Parmar, Senior Research Analyst at HDFC Securities, said the rupee's fall was also driven by foreign fund withdrawals and liquidity adjustments linked to a maturing $5 billion forex swap conducted by the RBI. "The forward premium rates also jumped to reflect the potential interest rate differential between the US and India after Friday's jobs data," he noted. US non-farm payroll data showed the economy added just 74,000 jobs in July, well below expectations of 106,000. The June figure was sharply revised to 14,000 from the earlier estimate of 147,000 — increasing pressure on the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates. Despite the currency weakness, Indian equities ended higher. The BSE Sensex gained 418.81 points to close at 81,018.72, while the Nifty climbed 157.40 points to 24,722.75. FIIs remained net sellers, pulling out Rs 2,566.51 crore from domestic equities on Monday, as per exchange data.
