Arunachal Assembly Speaker calls for engagement of youth in nation-building
Speaking at a lecture on 'APLA@50 Outreach Connect' to mark the golden jubilee celebrations of the assembly at the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) near Itanagar on Monday, Pongte urged the youth to not only safeguard their rights but also fulfil their responsibilities, an official statement said.

The event, organised in collaboration with the Rajiv Gandhi University with the support of NERIST, is a tribute to five decades of legislative progress, fostering awareness among the young generation about governance, civic responsibility, and the ongoing journey of Arunachal Pradesh towards holistic development.

Arunachal assembly speaker urges students to be aware of their fundamental rights
1 2 3 4 Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly (APLA) in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) on Saturday organised the second lecture of its 'APLA@50' Outreach Connect at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) near here. The initiative, themed 'Celebrating Democracy and Inspiring Future Leaders', is part of the golden jubilee celebrations of the state assembly and will be held across various colleges and universities in the state. Speaking on the occasion, APLA speaker Tesam Pongte urged students to not only be aware of their fundamental rights but also discharge their duties with sincerity. "You are the brightest minds of the state and future leaders of Arunachal Pradesh. Perform your responsibilities with sincerity, while keeping humanity alive," he said. APLA deputy speaker Kardo Nyigyor spoke on the democratic journey of the state and stressed that responsible citizenship at the individual level strengthens democracy. Delivering the keynote address, Prof Nabam Nakha Hina of RGU's political science department underlined that 'no right is absolute' and that duties run parallel to rights. He elaborated on the history of Indian democracy and the role of youth in upholding constitutional values.
