Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurates temporary KV building, lays foundation for permanent campus in Dhenkanal
Dhenkanal (Odisha) [India], May 23 (ANI): In a step toward strengthening foundational education, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated a temporary building for Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) on Friday and laid the foundation stone for its permanent campus in Dhenkanal, Odisha.
The occasion also reaffirmed the government's commitment to implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 across all states.
Speaking to ANI, Pradhan emphasised the NEP's focus on regional languages in early education. 'Under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, we have decided that in all the states of India--in the foundational and preparatory stages, in Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN), and in the NIPUN Bharat Mission--education must be provided in the children's mother tongue in the initial years,' he said.
He noted that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has already issued a circular directing schools across the country to commence school education in regional languages.
'This move aligns with NEP's vision to make learning more inclusive and effective for young students,' Pradhan stated.
'To take our country's new generation to the global level, we must fully implement the National Education Policy,' Pradhan added, underlining the importance of culturally rooted yet globally competitive education.
Earlier in the day, Dharmendra Pradhan also inaugurated the newly constructed auditorium at the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) in the Chiplima region of Sambalpur district.
According to his post on the social media platform X, Rs 10.5 crores were invested to upgrade the auditorium.
'OUAT, Chiplima will be a bridge between 'Developed Odisha' and 'Developed India'.I am happy to inaugurate the new state-of-the-art auditorium of OUAT Chiplima Agricultural College in Sambalpur. This auditorium will be of great help in the intellectual development of the students and in enhancing the skills of the farmers of Sambalpur and the surrounding districts. I thank the Chief Minister @MohanMOdisha for taking steps to upgrade this auditorium with an investment of about Rs 10.5 crore,' Pradhan post on X read.
He also thanked Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for his efforts in facilitating the auditorium's development. (ANI)

Hyderabad: BJP MP and former minister in BRS government Eatala Rajendar spilled the beans before Justice PC Ghose Commission inquiring into the Kaleshwaram project on Friday. The BJP MP told the commission that the three barrages – Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla were constructed only after the approval of CWC and Technical Committee and as per the recommendations of Cabinet Sub Committee headed by the then Irrigation minister T Harish Rao. Former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was the brain behind the Kaleshwaram, the former minister said, adding that the Maharashtra government had opposed the Tummidihatti barrage, and hence the then government took up Medigadda. Harish Rao was the chairman of the sub-committee, and himself and Tummala Nageswara Rao were members. The redesign was done as per the decision of the expert committee, technical committee and sub-committee. The technical committee gave many reports. Finally, the cabinet took the decision to build the three barrages. Rajendar clarified that he was not aware of the payment of Rs 59 crore to an agency for the preparation of DPR. The cabinet gave all approvals on Kaleshwaram and Corporation was also floated to raise funds for project construction. The previous government planned to borrow funds from the corporation and repay the loans. But, the funds were not collected by the corporation. However, all the funds for the project were released from the corporation and the role of the Finance department was nothing in the entire episode. The former Finance minister also said that the irrigation department was given the powers to borrow and pay the funds.

Security forces eliminate top Maoist leader with reward of Rs 45 Lakh
As part of the ongoing anti-Naxal operation in the National Park area of Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh, security forces have recovered the body of an high-ranking Maoist leader, who was killed during an encounter. His body was recovered on Friday, along with an AK-47 rifle, explosives and other arms and identification indicated the recovered body to be of Bhaskar Rao alias Mailarapu Adellu a member of the Telangana State Committee of the CPI (Maoist) outfit. advertisementBhaskar, a resident of Adilabad district in Telangana, was the Secretary of the Mancherial-Komarambheem (MKB) division of the Telangana State Committee of the CPI (Maoist) outfit. This includes a bounty of Rs 25 lakh in Chhattisgarh and Rs 20 lakhs in Telangana. Lift ban on issue of arms licences: BJP MLA to CM
First-time BJP MLA from the Kalapipal seat of Shajapur district, Ghanshyam Chandravanshi, has written to CM Mohan Yadav, urging him to lift the ban on the issuance of new arms licences in the state.
