Uttarakhand CM Dhami presents 'House of Himalayas' products to Union Minister JP Nadda
The Uttarakhand Chief Minister stated that the 'House of Himalayas' is a collection of pure and quality local products of Devbhoomi, the tireless hard work of women's power.
'By presenting products of House of Himalayas to the Honorable National President and Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Honorable Shri @JPNadda ji, he was informed about the unprecedented work being done by our women power and local people in the field of self-employment,' CM Dhami wrote on social media platform X.
Earlier in the day, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami welcomed Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President JP Nadda on his arrival at the Jolly Grant airport in Dehradun.
Sharing the update on social media platform X, the Chief Minister wrote, 'Welcomed and greeted the Honourable National President of BJP and Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Honorable @JPNaddaji at Jolly Grant Airport on his arrival to Uttarakhand, a symbol of valour and courage, imbued with religion, spirituality and natural beauty.'
Meanwhile, on May 17, CM Dhami launched the 'e-Rupi' system, a technology-based initiative aimed at modernising agricultural support in the state.
During the launch, the Chief Minister also introduced four ambitious agricultural policies (Kiwi Policy, Dragon Fruit, Apple Post-Harvest Harvesting Scheme and Millet Mission) to give a new direction to the agricultural system of the state. He said that the government will soon prepare a Flower and Honey Policy in the state.
Addressing the programme, the Chief Minister said that the e-Rupi system is a new initiative for the food producers of the state.
The e-Rupi system will become a new medium of transparent, fast and middleman-free digital payment for farmers. Under this system, the subsidy amount received by the farmers in the pilot projects will be sent directly to their mobile through e-voucher (SMS or QR code), which they will be able to use to buy fertilisers, seeds, medicines, etc. from authorised centres or vendors.
For the successful implementation of the e-Rupi system, the Chief Minister directed the officials to organise training programmes in every village and make the farmers aware so that they can properly take advantage of this technology.
The objective of all these initiatives is to strengthen agriculture and employment in the hilly and plain areas of the state so that problems like migration can also be effectively controlled.
These schemes will prove to be a milestone in making Uttarakhand a self-reliant, strong and leading agricultural state. 'All these schemes will promote agricultural diversity of the state and will become the basis for increasing the income of farmers,' CM Dhami said on the launch of four agricultural schemes. (ANI)

Uttarakhand govt passes Uttarakhand Freedom of Religion (Amendment) Bill
Taking a tough stand on illegal conversion, the Uttarakhand State Cabinet has approved the Uttarakhand Freedom of Religion (Amendment) Bill on Wednesday, under which strong provisions have been added for stringent penalties on illegal conversion, a ban on propaganda through digital media and protection of victims. The bill was passed during a meeting held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The Bill includes punishment for marriage under false identity and incitement for conversion through social media, messaging apps or any online medium, among others. The bill has broadened the definition of inducement, which includes gifts, cash/goods benefits, employment, free education, promise of marriage, hurting religious sentiments or glorifying another religion, all of which are included in the category of crime. The bill has placed a ban on the use of digital means to spread propaganda or incitement for conversion through social media, messaging apps, or any online medium, which is punishable. Under the bill, strict punishment, up to 3 to 10 years for general violation, 5 to 14 years in cases related to sensitive sections, 20 years to life imprisonment in serious cases and a heavy fine are made. The bill has made provision for protection, rehabilitation, medical, travel and maintenance expenses of the victims. The state government said that this law will protect the religious rights of citizens, prevent conversion by fraud, inducement or pressure and maintain social harmony. Earlier, on Wednesday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of Yoga Park and other development works in Kedarpuram under Dehradun Municipal Corporation. On this occasion, he launched the AI chatbot 'Nigam Sarathi' and also unveiled the document of Green Policy. The Chief Minister planted a Rudraksha sapling under the name of Ek Ped Maa Naam, which was the one lakhth sapling planted this year under the Municipal Corporation area of Dehradun under the massive plantation campaign run by the government. In the programme, the Chief Minister also honoured the Swachhata Samman Senani and Tax Inspectors. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also administered a collective oath for de-addiction.

It is also a day to honour their ability to face unimaginable loss and still find the strength to start afresh," PM Modi wrote. Amit Shah, in a post on X, said, 'Partition Horrors Remembrance Day is a day to express condolences by remembering the pain of those who suffered due to the partition of the country and its tragedy. On this day, the Congress party divided the nation into pieces, hurting the pride of Mother India.' He futher noted, 'The partition led to violence, exploitation, and atrocities, and millions of people endured displacement. I offer my heartfelt tribute to all those people. The country will never forget this history and pain of the partition. I offer my tribute to those who lost their lives in this horror of the partition.' Earlier today, Union Health Minister and BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda called for national unity and 'give a befitting reply to anti-national forces.' India attained its freedom from British rule on 15th August, 1947. Independence Day, which is celebrated on 15th August every year, is a joyous and proud occasion for any nation; however, with the sweetness of freedom came also the trauma of partition. The birth of the newly independent Indian nation was accompanied by violent pangs of partition that left permanent scars on millions of Indians. The partition caused the largest migrations in human history, affecting about 20 million people. An exhibition has been prepared by the culture ministry for the Observance of Partition Horrors Remembrance Day (PHRD), commemorated every year on August 14. "The Government of India has decided to observe PHRD, 2025 with a series of commemorative activities to be carried out across the country on August 14, 2025. In this regard, the Ministry of Culture has curated an exhibition to showcase the sufferings of the partition-affected people," the railway ministry said in a written communication to all its zones.

Union home minister Amit Shah said August 14 is the day to "remember and honour the pain of those who suffered the tragedy of Partition" and lashed out at the Congress party for dividing the nation -- calling it the dark chapter of history. "Today is a day to remember and honour the pain of those who suffered the tragedy of Partition. On this day, the Congress divided the nation, wounding the pride of Mother India. External affairs minister S Jaishankar also said that the partition caused "immense suffering and had far-reaching human and strategic consequences." "On #PartitionHorrorsRemembranceDay, we recall the resilience of those who endured this terrible tragedy. There are many lessons to be learnt from this painful chapter," the minister wrote on X. The horror of partition The Partition of India in 1947, which created the separate nations of India and Pakistan, was one of the most defining and traumatic events in South Asian history. Born out of political deadlock between the Indian National Congress and the Muslim League, and hastened by the British decision to leave, the division was drawn hastily along religious lines by the Radcliffe Commission. The result triggered one of the largest human migrations in history, with around 14–18 million people crossing borders -- Hindus and Sikhs moving to India, Muslims to Pakistan. The upheaval unleashed horrific communal violence, massacres, abductions, and sexual assaults, leaving more than a million dead and countless others scarred for life. Entire trains of refugees were attacked, villages were wiped out, and families were torn apart overnight. To ensure the memory of this tragedy endures, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2021 declared August 14 as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day ( Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas ). The day is marked with tributes to victims, exhibitions, archival displays, and public messages reflecting on the human cost of Partition, with leaders urging unity and a commitment to never let such divisions and bloodshed occur again.
