Rage Bait! Cowboys Dak Prescott Disrespected With Ridiculous QB Ranking

Yahoo21-05-2025

FRISCO — Dak Prescott's numbers were already shaky before a hamstring injury ended his 2024 campaign midway through fulfillment. He threw for 1,978 yards, 11 touchdowns and a ghastly eight interceptions.
But this regression cannot be entirely placed on his shoulders. Prescott's play was not up to the standard expected of him, yet he hardly had a competitive team around him to begin with.

The Dallas Cowboys found themselves in a funk stemming from the embarrassing NFC Wild Card loss at AT&T Stadium last year. They punted the following offseason to run it back one more time with the same group and watched the wheels spin off one by one until the wagon collapsed entirely.
When healthy and performing in a stable environment, Prescott has shown he can thrive. He tallied 4,516 yards, 36 touchdowns and only nine interceptions back in 2023 when the Cowboys last won the NFC East.
However, ESPN's Mike Clay only has Prescott ranked No. 12 in his quarterback projections for 2025, keeping him behind a list of names including Bo Nix, Kyler Murray and Brock Purdy.
Adding to that ridiculous placement, he has Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy one spot behind Prescott having not played a down of NFL football to this point.

While this may be a "projection" for 2025, it's hard for this not to come across as a classic Cowboys' rage bait. The injury concern for Prescott is notable and not something that can really be talked down.
But in a vacuum, assuming all players get the opportunity to complete their schedule, it's hard to imagine Prescott's production not landing at a higher clip than this. That same 2023, season, Prescott was in the thick of the MVP race and had a case to win that award over Lamar Jackson.
The Cowboys have also revamped their roster, adding another promising prospect on the offensive line and trading for a viable No. 2 option at wide receiver. These are the changes the team needed last season and never made.
Make no mistake, the onus falls on Prescott to get back to the levels he was at just a few years ago. However, when healthy, he has not given much reason to doubt him during the regular season.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Hints Where He Could Play After NBA Retirement

While the basketball world awaits Giannis Antetokounmpo breaking the silence on his plans for his future in the NBA, the Greek star seems to have taken up a side quest. The Bucks' superstar Antetokounmpo has been responding to fan queries on X (formerly known as Twitter) about anything and everything except his near future. Looking at his own long-term future, however, was not something that he had an issue doing on X. When a fan asked him to come to Fenerbahce, the Turkish basketball team, he did not hesitate in responding. Advertisement "Maybe when I retire from the NBA. Fener or Efes?", wrote Antetokounmpo on X. Anadolu Efes S.K. is another Turkish basketball team where Antetokounmpo might consider playing after he ends his NBA career in maybe eight or ten years. Giannis found himself in the middle of trade rumors after the Bucks' embarrassing first-round exit in five games against the Pacers. An ESPN report claimed the Bucks' star is open to considering leaving Milwaukee for the first time in his NBA career. Antetokounmpo was the 15th overall pick for the Bucks in 2013 and has ever since only played for them. Antetokounmpo has played 12 seasons for the Bucks. He has averaged 23.9 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in 859 regular-season games. Therefore, the two-time MVP being open to leaving Milwaukee for the first time came as a shock to all basketball fans. Where Antetokounmpo Could End Up If He Requests A Trade While several sources have claimed that the Greek star is fascinated by the idea of joining big teams like the Nets or Knicks, some realistic landing spots for him include San Antonio and Houston. Advertisement According to NBA insider Brian Windhorst, the San Antonio Spurs and the Houston Rockets are in the best-suited position to put in a realistically acceptable offer for the two-time MVP. Warriors insider Logan Murdock also claimed that Giannis was fascinated by the idea of joining alliances with Stephen Curry, but the Warriors just don't have the resources to make a move for him. Sources also claimed that the Rockets are willing to consider trading their young starting center Alperen Sengun, who became an All-Star for the first time this season. A realistic offer for the Bucks would be something they can build their future on. For the Spurs, it would mean that Keldon Johnson or Devin Vassell will be a part of the package that could pair up Wembanyama and Antetokounmpo in the frontcourt. Until the Greek superstar decides on his future, several teams are expected to hold back on making major trade moves in hopes of being in the sweepstakes for him. This will undoubtedly be the biggest move of the NBA in the summer if the Bucks' star decides to move. Related: Giannis Antetokounmpo Attends Event In San Francisco Amid Warriors Trade Rumors

Shaquille O'Neal Opposes Giannis Antetokounmpo's Potential Trade Request; Claims He Should Recruit Superstars Instead

Shaquille O'Neal Opposes Giannis Antetokounmpo's Potential Trade Request; Claims He Should Recruit Superstars Instead originally appeared on Fadeaway World. The Milwaukee Bucks were eliminated from the first round of the NBA Playoffs for the third time in a row after they lost to the Pacers in five games. Following this exit, ESPN published a report claiming Giannis Antetokounmpo, for the first time in his career, is open to potentially considering leaving Milwaukee and requesting a trade from the Bucks. Advertisement This made the two-time MVP one of the biggest names to watch out for in the trade market once the offseason begins. Shaquille O'Neal spoke to Yahoo Sports about this potential trade move. He gave his advice to the Greek superstar about embracing the small market team because a small market is an outdated concept in the NBA, and social media has made every team a potentially big market for the players. 'I would tell him that, probably, throwing in his face in a bigger market doesn't matter. Social media is the market now. Giannis has made a name for himself on social media. You got to LA, and now 50% of your contract goes to taxes, more pressure, and more stress. Being that he's in control of that ship, he should go upstairs and be like, 'I want to see all the free agents, I want all the phone numbers, I'll talk to them.' He should bring people to him." O'Neal feels Antetokounmpo should use his position on the team to demand more from the front office and become actively involved in recruiting talent to the team. O'Neal has had personal experience with moving from a small-market team to a big-market team when he moved from the Orlando Magic to the LA Lakers. However, he claims that times were different back in his day and that Antetokounmpo should not make himself go through that process. "You know, when I was coming up, it was a small market, it's too small, you probably need to go to a big market, I took the pain through that. But now every market is the same. Nobody cares what city you're in anymore, this ain't the 90s.' Where Giannis Antetokounmpo May End Up: Rumors And Best Fit According to immediate predictions from NBA Insider Brian Windhorst after ESPN reports on Antetokounmpo's potential request, the Houston Rockets and the San Antonio Spurs are in the best positions to make a move for Antetokounmpo. Considering that the main reason why Giannis is expected to leave is a lack of success, he is predicted to immediately join a team that becomes a title contender. Advertisement The San Antonio Spurs have the highly rated Victor Wembanyama and Rookie of the Year Stephon Castle alongside veteran talent of De'Aaron Fox and Devin Vassell. They will immediately become title contenders if they find a way to retain this core and trade for Antetokounmpo. The Houston Rockets were the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference due to top-tier talents like Alperen Sengun, Amen Thompson, and Jalen Green. That, combined with Ime Udoka's coaching, makes the Rockets a viable destination for Antetokounmpo. The Rockets have a lot of draft assets and young talent to potentially sign off on a trade without giving away this young core. Two team names that also came up in this discussion were the Warriors and the Knicks, simply because they are big markets. Considering that neither of these teams has enticing draft assets or young talent for the Bucks to give away their franchise player, it is highly unlikely that Antetokounmpo lands in either of these teams. In the most recent rumors, Toronto Star's NBA Insider Doug Smith claimed Antetokounmpo has interest in joining the Raptors. It will be interesting to see where Antetokounmpo lands if he requests a trade or if he listens to O'Neal, stays in Milwaukee, and fixes things internally in the franchise. Dominick Cruz: Merab Dvalishvili 'knows he can get knocked out' by Sean O'Malley at UFC 316

Dominick Cruz: Merab Dvalishvili 'knows he can get knocked out' by Sean O'Malley at UFC 316 Dominick Cruz thinks Sean O'Malley has what it takes to regain the bantamweight title from Sean O'Malley at UFC 316, but it's going to be an uphill climb. Much has been made of the radical life changes O'Malley has endured going into Saturday's rematch against Dvalishvili at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. (ESPN+ pay-per-view, ESPN, ESPN+). Additionally, "Suga" was injured for the first meeting this past September, in which he dropped a unanimous decision, and afterward underwent surgery for a torn labrum. O'Malley (18-2 MMA, 10-2 UFC) has painted the picture that he wasn't in top form for the initial bout with Dvalishvili (19-4 MMA, 12-2 UFC) but things are significantly better for him entering this contest. For Cruz, who is a former two-time UFC champion at 135 pounds and now an analyst and commentator for the company, that makes things very captivating. "The fights transform you alone, much less life outside of the fight world that's also transforming you at the same things," Cruz told MMA Junkie. "I'm glad to hear that for O'Malley, because from my experience that is a more sustainable lifestyle for a long period of time to stay in the top five and the top 10 than the latter – not to say it can't be done. There's no right way to do this, either. That's what's beautiful about this sport. People do it all the ways. There's no right or wrong way and you can keep winning, and as long as you're winning, people love you." If O'Malley can come out at UFC 316 as the sharpshooting knockout artists that elevated him to become champion, then Cruz thinks there will be opportunities for him to finish the fight. "Let's say he's healthy in this fight: He's going to have a completely different camp and a completely different camp shows a completely different wrinkle of him, and that's interesting to me," Cruz said. "He always has the power and the style to knock out Merab, and Merab knows that. He knows he can get knocked out by O'Malley, and we've seen him do it to Aljamain Sterling. And if Merab gets caught reaching at all over that lead leg, that's where O'Malley is really going to make him pay. There's a lot of fundamental challenges for Merab with the short stance and all that, and O'Malley has really good footwork. He's really rangy. He's really good at pulling you side-to-side into power shots. This is a fun fight. I like it and don't see anything wrong with it. It keeps the story going for Merab." Ultimately, with Dvalishvili on a 12-fight winning streak and already getting the better of O'Malley inside the octagon, it's difficult for Cruz to go against the reigning champion because of his ability to keep the challenger guessing. "I do believe that Merab should be the favorite and I do believe he is the true champion and will probably (win)," Cruz said. "If I look at the last fight, it wasn't close to me. We're assuming that because he was hurt, that's why. I'm going to say it's because Merab was nasty. He mixes up his striking and his wrestling very similar to the way I used my style, he uses a similar tactics with the high and low, with the shooting at the times he shoots and time he strikes." To hear Cruz's full breakdown of the UFC 316 main event, check out his complete appearance on "The Bohnfire" podcast with MMA Junkie senior reporter Mike Bohn above.
