Kentucky priest asks what to do with UK jersey signed by late pope, head coach

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — In the wake of Pope Francis' passing on Monday, April 21, a Kentucky priest is left wondering what to do with one of the last gifts from him.
Father Jim Sichko, Papal Missionary of Mercy, posted a video on Facebook just before 1 p.m. on Thursday, asking the community what to do with the last items that the Pope had given to him.

'I remember when I went to the Vatican the last time I saw him, just about three months ago, he, without me asking, he signed the UK jersey that Coach Pope had autographed for me to give to Pope Francis,' Fr. Jim said. 'I just don't know what to do with it!'
Sichko presented the jersey, signed by University of Kentucky men's basketball head coach Mark Pope, to Pope Francis in May of 2024. On the same day, Pope Francis also signed two bottles of Sichko's Kentucky Bourbon, Papal Willett, which are decorated with the Papal Seal and the Pope's coat of arms. Those bottles would go on to sell for about $30,000, benefitting Paws 4 the Cause.
Sichko said he was torn between keeping and cherishing the double-signed jersey, giving it to UK Athletics or other university leaders, or putting it up for auction and donating the benefits to a Kentucky charity.

'Someone suggested that maybe I ask you all,' Sichko said. 'Just let me know what your thoughts are.'
Fr. Jim said the jersey was the last item he had received from Pope Francis.

Nebraska tight end target cancels visit to rival school

Nebraska tight end target cancels visit to rival school Nebraska football appears to be making headway with class of 2026 three-star tight end Luke Sorensen. The tight end has canceled his visit to Penn State, which was set to take place this weekend. He is set to decide on June 20, and has the Huskers and Ole Miss as his final two teams. This was reported by Tim Verghese on Tuesday. Sorensen is the 34th overall player in the state of California, and the 19th overall player at his position per Rivals rankings. He most recently visited Lincoln last weekend, during what was a big recruiting weekend for the program. Sorensen has received several crystal ball predictions over the past couple of days, and this looks like a recruitment that could be in Nebraska's favor. Sorensen would be the sixth commitment of the 2026 class, as the program most recently landed offensive lineman Rex Waterman on Tuesday afternoon. The program appears to be a very good spot in this recruitment at the moment. Fact Check: Viral video claiming to show passenger live-streaming from Ahmedabad crash is fake

By News Desk Published on June 12, 2025, 15:58 IST A video circulating on social media claiming to be a Facebook Live recording from inside the Air India AI171 flight that crashed in Ahmedabad has been proven to be fake. The clip, shared by multiple users including one account named Honest Cricket Lover, shows a man recording himself on a flight moments before a crash. The video, captioned as being from the June 12 Ahmedabad plane crash, has garnered significant traction online, stirring emotions and panic. However, fact-checkers and independent sources have confirmed that the video is actually from a previous plane crash in Nepal. The clip was part of an incident involving a Yeti Airlines crash in Pokhara, Nepal, in January 2023, in which a passenger had live-streamed the final moments on Facebook before the aircraft went down. An old video from Nepal is being falsely shared as recent plane crash video from Ahmedabad. Proof: — Youturn English (@Youturn_media) June 12, 2025 Youturn English, a credible fact-checking platform, flagged the misinformation and linked the original sources, confirming that the viral video is not connected to the Air India AI171 crash that occurred in Ahmedabad. Social media users are urged to verify content before sharing, especially in sensitive situations involving loss of life or national concern. Authorities have not released any video footage from inside the actual Air India aircraft that crashed. News desk at

Auburn basketball learns opponent for 2025 ACC-SEC challenge

Auburn basketball learns opponent for 2025 ACC-SEC challenge Bruce Pearl and the Auburn Tigers will face a former SEC head coach in this year's edition of the ACC-SEC Challenge. The 2024 ACC-SEC Challenge was a huge success for the SEC, who posted a 14-2 record in the event. Auburn, unfortunately, was not on the winning side of last year's challenge, falling to Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina, 84-78. This year, the Tigers will aim for revenge in front of their home crowd as they will host the NC State Wolfpack at Neville Arena for this year's edition of the ACC-SEC Challenge, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports. This year's matchup is intriguing as it will pit Auburn's Bruce Pearl against former LSU head coach Will Wade, who is set to begin his first season as the Wolfpack's head coach after spending the last two seasons at McNeese State. Wade is set to take on the challenge of building NC State back into an ACC contender after the program recorded a 38-34 record, with a 14-26 mark in ACC play over the last two seasons under Kevin Keatts. Wade won 105 games in five seasons at LSU. Since arriving in Raleigh, Wade has worked tirelessly in his rebuilding efforts through the transfer portal by landing former North Carolina forward Ven-Allen Lubin, former Houston forward Terrance Arceneaux, and ex-Texas Tech forward Darrion Williams. He also landed the nation's No. 14 recruiting class with four-star guard Matt Able headlining the haul. Auburn basketball will nearly start from scratch with its roster following last season's Final Four run. Auburn signed key players, including Mississippi State forward Keshawn Murphy, the Big 12's leading scorer Keyshawn Hall, and a talented wing player in Elyjah Freeman this offseason. Pearl also landed a top-20 recruiting class that features two JUCO stars and a pair of four-stars from the high school ranks. This season's matchup with NC State has the makings of a classic.
