'It's important that people remain balanced in their emotions'- Linnets boss

Adam Lakeland is on a mission to silence the doom and gloom around King's Lynn Town ahead of a pivotal few days for the club.
Consecutive draws against teams in the lower reaches of National League North, preceded by a derby defeat at Peterborough Sports, had quelled the excitement as Lynn missed opportunities to take over at the top of the table.
Despite those heady heights being within their grasp, the whiff of a dip in form was met in some quarters by dissent.
But the topsy-turvy nature of this particular league was reflected perfectly a week ago when Lynn went to promotion rivals Curzon Ashton and came home with all three points.
It was the sort of result which proves the manager's point – and with Hereford the visitors on Saturday, fans will no doubt raise their expectations again.
There are obvious memories of a famous double in early 2018: when Toby Hilliard struck the winner in injury time it topped an almighty comeback from 2-0 down at half-time in the biggest test of that season, and in front of the biggest crowd of almost 1,200.
That 3-2 win was followed less than two months later by a 2-0 win at Hereford as Lynn finished second in the Southern League. The play-off final defeat was not in the script and it won't be in Lakeland's either as Lynn bid to chase down the leaders.
Hereford head to The Walks ninth in the table, three points and three places below Lynn, who will want to use the momentum from last weekend to keep in the thick of the pack.

'They're another good side, but it was important that we won (at Curzon), because I feel like there's been a lot of doom and gloom, just people I bump into, people I speak to, supporters last week at The Walks, because we'd drawn two games, which is madness really,' said Lakeland.
'That's two defeats in 14 now and we've just come away to one of the best teams in the league and got a really big three points.
'We're going along well, we've just got to keep going. This league is incredibly demanding. You're going to have spells where you win games, you're going to have spells where you maybe don't, but it's important that people remain balanced in their emotions and just trust the work that we're doing and trust the players that we've got to keep going out there and trying to perform well and get results.'
Attacking midfielder Cameron Forde-Brown was in the Lynn squad at Curzon and is likely to be involved again this weekend, having impressed Lakeland in training.
'He deserves to be in the squad because he's been out on loan all season at Felixstowe and he been doing incredibly well there,' said the Lynn boss. 'He's definitely benefited from playing week in, week out and the way that he's trained for the last few months, to be fair to him, has been superb. So he deserves it, he was close last week. Probably been the last couple of games where I've regretted probably not having him on the bench. I just felt he deserved his place in the squad and it just goes to show that hard work and training well after day, gets you a chance, so I'm pleased for him.'
The Hereford visit is part one of a home double within the space of three days - Oxford City are the visitors on Tuesday for a game which has seen the club slash ticket prices with an offer that has now been extended to a deadline of midnight on Monday. See the club's official website for details.

Bolton Wanderers eyeing up homegrown Hull City defender Matty Jacobs

HULL City defender Matty Jacob is understood to be in Wanderers' sights as transfer activity starts to pick up at the Toughsheet Stadium. The left-back, who turns 24 today, came through Hull's youth ranks and has been on the fringes of the squad in the Championship for the last two seasons. Advertisement Jacob has two years left to run on his contract with the Tigers but it remains to be seen whether Bolton pursue a permanent or loan arrangement. Steven Schumacher has relatively few options on the left side of his defence and particularly in the full-back department, where the returning Max Conway is the only real specialist in the squad. Having knocked on the first team door at Hull, Wanderers could now offer Jacob the regular football he needs to progress a career which got off to a stellar start with a goal on his first start for Hull in the FA Cup against Birmingham City. Previously, he had also spent a season on loan in the National League North with Gateshead in 2021/22, featuring 34 times and helping the north-east club secure promotion as champions. Barnsley-born Jacob played eight games last season and scored his first league goal against Sheffield United in January. He was also a substitute on 18 occasions.

Former Carlisle United prospect makes non-league switch

Former Carlisle United prospect Cameron Salkeld has made FA Trophy finalists Spennymoor Town his latest destination. The midfielder has joined the National League North club ahead of the 2025/26 season. Advertisement It follows his departure from fellow sixth-tier club Darlington. Salkeld, who came through the youth side at Carlisle and made two first-team appearances, scoring once, had been with Darlo for the last two years. Now he makes the switch to another north east outfit. Spennymoor boss Graeme Lee has welcomed the arrival of the former Blue to the Brewery Field. 'The way Cam plays the game suits us down to the ground,' said Lee in a club statement. 'I've said it numerous times that we're at our best when we play with real intensity, and Cam does that with his work rate and the distances he covers during games. Advertisement 'He is full of running, has great ability, good experience and can play in a few different roles so he's someone we're delighted to be adding to our squad for 2025/26.' Salkeld's two senior outings for Carlisle came in the EFL Trophy under Keith Curle in the 2016/17 campaign. He made his debut at 17 as a substitute against Blackburn Rovers' Under-21s in October 2016 before, a month later, coming off the bench to score in a 4-2 win over Fleetwood Town. He also impressed for United's youth team as they reached the fourth round in the same season. He moved on from Carlisle in 2018 and has since had spells at Gateshead, Greenock Morton, Ayr United and Clyde before joining Darlington in 2023. Spennymoor finished ninth in National League North last season as well as reaching the FA Trophy final, where they lost 3-0 to Aldershot Town at Wembley.
