Luke Shaw says Man Utd have ‘no stragglers anymore' as he praises Ruben Amorim

The 30-year-old is the longest-serving player at Old Trafford having joined from Southampton in 2014 for what was at the time a world-record fee for a teenager.
Shaw has experienced plenty of down moments among the positives during his time at United, with Amorim the fifth different permanent manager the England international has worked under.
The left-back said the whole squad needed to consider whether they were good enough to play for the club after May's Europa League final loss to Tottenham and feels standards have been raised in pre-season.
'It's not hard to see from the outside what it's been like,' Shaw told reporters on their US tour.
'A lot of the time I've been here over the last few years, it's been extremely negative. It can be quite toxic, the environment, it's not healthy at all.
'We need an environment that's healthy, that's positive, that's got good energy and happiness.
'I think when you have all those things, you feel free, and you express yourself more on the pitch.'

'His mentality, his demands – he's extremely tough on the group,' Shaw said.
'He leaves no stone unturned, and I think there's no stragglers in this group anymore. I think everyone has to put the team first. He's made that very clear.
'I think he's picking players on how he feels will be best for the team and that's his choice.
'Us as players, we're fully behind him and fully behind his ideas and what he wants to implement in this team.
'We feel like a real team, especially this pre-season. Since I've been back, the group is so together and that's something we need to keep, to make us more of a family and everyone all together and we're all driving in the same direction.'
United finished 15th last season and are currently taking part in the Premier League Summer Series in America.
Amorim's side beat West Ham 2-1 in New Jersey at the weekend and are taking on Bournemouth at Soldier Field in Chicago on Wednesday evening local time, before facing Everton in Atlanta on Sunday.

Dele Alli considers retiring at 29 after ex-Spurs and England star snubbed by Cesc Fabregas

Dele Alli's football career has been on a downward spiral since leaving Tottenham in 2021 after struggling to rediscover his best form at Everton and his future now looks uncertain having been excluded from Cesc Fabregas' plans at Como Former Tottenham star Dele Alli is reportedly considering retirement at the age of just 29 after being told he is not Como's plans under Cesc Fabregas this season. ‌ Alli has endured a nightmare spell since leaving Tottenham for Everton in 2021 after struggling to find his best form at Goodison Park before a disastrous loan at Turkish side Besiktas in 2022-23. ‌ Everton allowed him to train with the first team during the 2023-24 season but he failed to stay fit and avoid injuries and eventually left in 2024 before Como and Fabregas took a chance on him at the start of the year. ‌ But his luckless run in football continued after he was sent off on his Como debut, just ten minutes after coming on as a substitute following a rash challenge on Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Alli hasn't played for the club since and he has now been "banished" from Fabregas' plans for the new 2025-26 Serie A season, according to Gazetta dello Sport, and the England international is now thinking about hanging up his boots. The Italian outlet has detailed how Alli has been training away from the first team group and is now weighing up his next move, with few options on the table for the former wonderkid. Premier League fans will remember being wowed by Alli during seven years at Tottenham, where he once scored 18 Premier League goals in the 2016-17 season as Spurs finished second in the league. Tottenham's All or Nothing documentary on Amazon in the 2019-20 season shed a light on Alli's struggles behind the scenes, however, as former boss Jose Mourinho was filmed criticising his work ethic in training before telling the player he will "regret" not realising his true potential. ‌ Alli later gave a heartbreaking interview with Gary Neville in 2023 following his exit from Spurs, revealing his trauma as a child, including how he was sexually abused as a child. He said he struggled with his mental health throughout his career and had spent time in rehab following the end of his Besiktas loan due to an addiction to sleeping pills. During the interview, Alli said he had contemplated retiring at 24 when Mourinho was the manager after losing his hunger as a top level footballer. "One morning I woke up and I had to go to training - this is when he'd stopped playing me - and I was in a bad place. I was literally staring in the mirror and I was asking if I could retire now, at 24, doing the thing I love. That was heartbreaking." Man Utd fans banned from getting three names printed on new shirt

Manchester United fans were stunned to learn that they cannot get the names of three former players printed on the club's new kit. Excitement for the new Premier League season is growing with less than two weeks to go before the opening game between champions Liverpool and Bournemouth. Clubs are finishing off their pre-season preparations, with United taking on Everton and Fiorentina before kicking-off the new campaign against Arsenal on August 17. Supporters are also gearing up the season by getting their hands on the new Red Devils home and away shirts, but those who recently ventured to the Old Trafford megastore were in for a surprise. As shared on social media by a fan, a sign displaying United's shirt printing policy states: 'Due to licensing restrictions, we are unable to print Cantona, Beckham, and Ronaldo,' on the back of shirts. Eric Cantona, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo are of course three of the greatest players in United's history and three icons of football. More Trending All wore the iconic No.7 shirt and won a total of 21 major trophies during their time in Manchester. Yet, United have confirmed that as the trio own their image rights, their names cannot be printed on replica kits at the club's own shop. Additionally, it is said this policy is not new and has actually been in place for a number of years. United are not the only club who have this issue, as it was reported last year that Real Madrid had banned fans from getting names of several Los Blancos legends on new kits, including Beckham and Ronaldo. Fans still have plenty of other names they can choose from, including new signings Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Diego Leon who will wear numbers 10, 19 and 30 this season. It is an unusual sight to see Cunha donning the famous United No.10 shirt which had been worn by Marcus Rashford since 2018. 'It's something that you always dream about,' the forward said upon signing and taking over the number earlier this summer. 'I can mention many players that use this shirt. It's so easy for me. 'Of course, I think the one that I always think about when I see this number in this shirt for me was Wayne Rooney. He was someone that I grew up to watch him play and I have [watched] many games now. 'Then I swapped shirts with Marcus [after a game] also, I have his shirt in my home. But, of course, we know many players used this shirt – [Ruud] van Nistelrooy, [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic. 'It's the dream not only to use the shirt, but with all the history they have around the number, it's something beautiful that I have the privilege to do it.'
