Shah Rukh Khan Promises Mona Singh A Lead Role Opposite Him: ‘Mummy Ka Role Kyu Karti Ho?'
Shah Rukh Khan has arrived for the grand preview launch of his son Aryan Khan's directorial debut series 'The Ba***ds Of Bollywood'. He was seen interacting with the cast members of the series during the event. In an interaction with Mona Singh, SRK said that Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi was his favourite show, and that he loved Mona's performance in it. However, he said that he has one complaint- that Mona often portrays mother roles on-screen despite being only 43! She playfully replied that since Shah Rukh plays the young hero in Jawan, someone has to play the mother. Reacting to this, King Khan promised her a lead role opposite him the next time!
At the preview launch of 'The Ba***ds Of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan told Mona Singh, 'Bohot saalon se kehta aa raha hu, ki mera favourite show tha Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi. Usmein meri ek favourite cheez thi Mona. Aur aaj bhi mujhe aisa lagta hai ki Mona Jaisi koi nahi. But ek complain hai yaar. Chhoti si umar mein bhi ye mummy ka role kyu karti ho yaar tum? Bohot achha karti ho. (I've been saying for years that my favourite show was Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin. And there was one thing I especially loved in it — Mona. Even today, I feel like there's no one like Mona. But I do have one complaint. Why are you playing a mom even at such a young age? You do it so well though)."
Replying to this, Mona Singh said, 'Shah Rukh ab main kya bolu yaar? Aap hero Jawan banke baithe huye ho. Toh kisi na kisiko toh mummy ka role karna padega na? How will I get younger roles? (Shah Rukh, what can I even say, yaar? You're playing the hero in Jawan. So someone or the other had to play the mom, right? How will I ever get younger roles?)." Responding to this, Shah Rukh Khan promised her a lead role opposite him! 'Agli baar hum dono karenge saath mein. Pakka. 100 percent! (Next time, we'll do something together. Promise. 100 percent!)."
Mona Singh's Mother Roles
For the unversed, Mona Singh played the role of Abhay Verma's mother in the film 'Munjya', which released in June last year. She was also seen as Gurpreet Kaur Chaddha, Laal's mother, in Aamir Khan's 2022 film Laal Singh Chaddha.
Meanwhile, Aryan Khan's directorial debut 'The Ba***ds Of Bollywood' stars Bobby Deol, Lakshya, Sahher Bambba, Manoj Pahwa, Mona Singh, Manish Chaudhari, Raghav Juyal, Anya Singh, Vijayant Kohli, and Gautami Kapoor.
Aryan serves as the creator and director, and is working alongside co-creators and writers Bilal Siddiqi and Manav Chauhan. Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, the show reportedly dives into the eccentric world of aspirants, hustlers, and dreamers who navigate the chaos of the Hindi film industry.

Kriti Sanon slams gender pay gap in Bollywood, says producers are 'scared' to give female-led films big budgets
Actor Kriti Sanon spoke candidly about the ongoing issue of gender pay disparity in Bollywood at a recent event. Highlighting the industry's long-standing reluctance to treat male and female actors equally, she questioned why pay should differ when the work remains the same. Kriti Sanon highlighted producers' reluctance to invest in female-led films despite their potential for success and expressed optimism about a shift towards content-driven projects.(Photo: Instagram) Kriti opens up about pay disparity in Bollywood Speaking at the CNN-News18 event on Thursday, Kriti said, "Actually, considering all the other industries, I don't understand why the pay parity is not there. Because for certain kinds of roles, certain kinds of jobs, whether you are a male or a female, it shouldn't matter, and the pay should be the same. In the films, yes we've been having this conversation for a very, very long time and trust me it pinches us more than anyone else." 'Even if it's a film led by a woman, I feel it's not scaled at the same budget as a film that is led by a man would be. But that's also because producers are scared that they are not going to get as much money back. So I think it's a circle where female-led films don't end up making as much money as the male-led films, and then it's like 'oh, that's why his fees are more or her fees are less'," she added. Despite the challenges, Kriti expressed optimism about the slow but noticeable shift in the industry's attitude. She noted that content-driven films are beginning to take centre stage, regardless of whether they're led by men or women. Citing the success of the female-led film Crew, she emphasised the importance of fun, high-budget projects being fronted by women and urged producers to take more risks based on stories rather than gender. The 2024 film starred Kriti alongside Tabu and Kareena Kapoor. It grossed ₹157 crore worldwide and was one of the highest-grossing Hindi films last year. Kriti's upcoming projects On the work front, Kriti is gearing up for several big releases. She will next be seen opposite Dhanush in Aanand L. Rai's Tere Ishq Mein, followed by Cocktail 2, directed by Homi Adajania and co-starring Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna.

Kavita Krishnamurthy Recalls Singing Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam At SheShakti 2025: ‘God Was Smiling At Me That Day'
Kavita Krishnamurthy at SheShakti 2025 revealed how she recorded the iconic Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam track despite battling sinus issues. Kavita Krishnamurthy, one of India's most revered playback singers, revisited some of the defining moments of her musical journey at CNN-News18's SheShakti Delhi Edition on Thursday. The celebrated singer spoke candidly about her collaborations with filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and composer Ismail Darbar on unforgettable films such as Khamoshi, Devdas, and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. In particular, she reflected on the experience of recording the title track of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, a song that has since become immortal in the annals of Hindi cinema. Opening up about her working dynamic with composer Ismail Darbar, she said, 'I think Ismail Darbar is absolutely fantastic, very very creative, very emotional and very very clear in his mind as to what he wants the singer to do in a song. It was very difficult to please him in a recording studio." Recalling the day she was to sing the title track, Krishnamurthy admitted she was nervous, as her recurring health issues often interfered with her voice. 'I remember how nervous I was when I was going to sing Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, the title track. Because let me tell you, I do suffer from a lot of cold issues. And then I also have a lot of sinus. So sometimes when I go to sing a song, I am hoping and praying to God please don't give me too many hums and tums. Because my nose will not work." She even shared a light-hearted personal anecdote: 'That day I remember telling my aunt that I don't know how long it would take because it's a difficult song, too many hums in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. But ye uss din Raag Rasoi bagdi waali baat hogayi thi. That day God was definitely smiling at me. He said 'No No, you are going to do it very quickly today.' So that day I managed to sing the song in one third of the time, which is very surprising, because I really thought that I would take hours when I finished it soon." For her, the ability to let go of a song after recording is a blessing. As she explained, 'The ability to forget a song after your record is in a way very good ability because when you go to the next studio to sing for somebody else, it's easier if you have forgotten what you have sung and you go with a fresh ear to listen to another song." Yet, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam proved to be an exception. 'That song, after Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, I could not have sung in a day. Because that song, that composition really really haunted me. It was such a beautiful composition. The lyrics, the way the song was done and the orchestraisation of the song, it's beautiful and that too with a western voice, like an operatic singing in the beginning and the way the violin, the string section comes in, it's very very beautiful." Her reflections drew the audience into the sheer artistry that went into creating one of Bollywood's most iconic soundtracks. The SheShakti 2025 grand finale in New Delhi carried the theme 'From Breaking Barriers to Building Bharat" and featured an illustrious lineup including Kriti Sanon, Sanya Malhotra, Smriti Irani, Lindy Cameron, Nidhi Khare, Rekha Gupta, and Mallika Srinivasan. With Kavita Krishnamurthy's timeless anecdotes, the event underscored the profound cultural and artistic legacies women continue to shape across India.
