Billie Eilish urges music label to 'upcycle' 400,000 unsold tops into new merch
Ocean eye-d Billie Eilish is standing up for sustainability, joining the movement of earth-conscious celebs as she demands music labels take accountability of fashion waste by beginning to upcycle unsold merchandise.
The 23-year-old singer has long been involved with sustainability initiatives, known to have forked out for public transportation costs to cover fans' journeys to her global concerts.
Billie has also opted for recycled plastics when producing her vinyl's in the past and even performed at solar-powered festivals, showing full support. Her new mission: to push label Universal Music Group to "upcycle" the concert merchandise that remains unsold. Eilish and her mother, Maggie Baird, have been joined by Bravado in pushing this initiative, promising to transform the huge warehouse of T-shirts and other unsold items, gathering dust over the decades, into new products for fans worldwide.
Stating the warehouse's location to be Nashville, USA, Billboard reported Maggie's concerns, the mother of the singer-songwriter siblings saying: "We are drowning in clothes on this planet, much of which is in landfills, much of which is shipped to other countries to pollute their waters and their land".
She added: "We have to be extremely thoughtful about what merch gets put out in the world," asking "why does it exist, how is it made, and what happens to it in its second life?"
As a result of Billie and her mother's help, Bravado, a global producer of merchandise, has sponsored the campaign by agreeing to send a massive sum of 400,000 T-shirts from Nashville to Morocco. There, the deadstock will be repurposed by Hallotex.

The Spanish clothing designer and manufacturer has confirmed it will begin this process by completely deconstructing a large portion of the shirts by spinning them into cotton yarn, ready to be remade into new shirts. And for those that cannot be recycled in this way, the company have planned to shred the items into housing insulation fabric.
Bravado have stated that at the end of this process, the company will be left with an impressive 280,000 remade shirts, ready to become artist merch for Autumn in Europe. Already, the option for remade shirts are available on the artist's online store.
On Billie's official Facebook account, she posted: "To celebrate Earth Day, Billie has teamed up with 3 rising businesses that are leading the charge in the sustainable production space. These capsules showcase how style, innovation, and creativity can coexist in the things we make, while being mindful of the impact on our planet. Her mother Maggie commented on this waste-conscious development, saying: "We asked for [more sustainable options] even before she was big. It was a little bit like pushing a boulder up a hill for a long time". She also stated that "Billie has teamed up with three rising businesses that are leading the charge in the sustainable production space,' on her website, affirming that "these capsules showcase how style, innovation, and creativity can coexist in the things we make, while being mindful of the impact on our planet".

Drake cancels postponed Australian shows on Anita Max Win tour
Aussie fans holding their breath for Drake 's return Down Under should consider exhaling. The Canadian rapper, 38, who was in Australia for his Anita Max Win tour in February, abruptly postponed shows in Brisbane, Sydney, and Auckland, with a promise of rescheduling. He was due to perform at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on March 4, before heading back to Sydney for another show at Qudos Bank Arena on March 7. The Canadian hitmaker was then set to play gigs in Auckland on March 15 and 16. The news came after the One Dance star partied at popular Brisbane nightclub The Tax Office until 4am following his show at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. He then flew to Fiji on his private jet at 6.40am the next morning before heading to Toronto via Hawaii. Despite the 'scheduling conflict', just days after fleeing Australia, Drake was enjoying what appeared to be a lavish welcome home party. He shared an image to Instagram that showed his marble kitchen island bench featuring an Anita Max Win-themed triple-tiered cake. The cake was also festooned with slot machines and coins – a perfect decoration for the gambling enthusiast. The inviting plate also featured the words 'Anita Max Won' spelled out in what appeared to be cheese. In a statement to Daily Mail at the time, Live Nation said they were working on rescheduling the remaining Australia and New Zealand tour dates and offered refunds to concertgoers who could not make the new dates. 'We are actively working on rescheduling these dates along with adding some additional shows,' a spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia. 'All tickets for the affected shows will remain valid for the new dates. Refunds will be available for those who prefer, but please note that as these shows are sold out, any refunded tickets will be released for sale. 'We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience. Drake and the entire team have had an incredible time doing these shows and are excited to return soon. 'We look forward to sharing the rescheduled dates with you as soon as possible.' Spain Episode 6 of The Assassin starts with Edward walking up and Marie welcoming him home. It turns out they are in Spain, and so are Luka and Julie. Thanks to an old friend of Julie and Kayla's help, Luka got to Spain and found the necessary artillery for their mission. Kayla sends Julie a message, asking her to make contact as soon as possible. However, Julie has no plans of updating Kayla until everything is done. Meanwhile, Luca kind of feels jealous of Julie's old friend. Why did Marie take Edward? As it turns out, Marie is not Edward's biological mom. She and her husband, Jean-Luc, hired a surrogate. Jean-Luc put all his love and attention into Edward. Marie tolerated Edward because of her love for her husband. After Julie killed Jean-Luc, left Marie for dead and stole Edward, Marie vowed to get vengeance. However, she was in a coma until recently. Once she fully recovered, she put her action into plan. Now, she tells Edward about his father and how Aaron Cross had Jean-Luc murdered. Of course, she is heavy on how Aaron Cross is Kayla's dad. Meanwhile, Luka and Julie watch the house from afar, waiting for nightfall to attack. As they wait, Julie confesses she sometimes struggles with the killing. She learnt to see the targets as a job, and it became easier to live with. Does Julie save Edward? After sundown, Julie infiltrates the house while Luka hangs back and helps from afar. Luka already secretly contacted Kayla and informed her of their location. To save Edward, Kayla makes a deal with Ezra, who is now the new CEO of CGM. He agrees to help Edward as long as Kayla doesn't go public about their parents' mistake. Back in the house, Julie finds Marie's art and understands her pain. Still, she has to save Edward. Julie makes her way inside the house and sets a bomb in Marie's art room. She then proceeds to find Edward. At the same time, Edward uses Julie's infiltration as a distraction to attack Marie and escape. He randomly meets Julie in one of the hallways, and they confront each other. Julie apologises for hurting Edward, killing his dad, but asks him to trust her. She wants to get him to safety and leave for good. Unfortunately, Marie poisoned Edward, and this slows him down. As things start to look bleak for Edward and Julie, Kayla arrives with her bodyguards. Marie offers to give Edward the antidote if he kills Julie. Instead of killing Julie, Edward kills Marie. On the other side of the house, Luka confronts one of the assassins who killed his friends on the island. Luka is unable to kill the man, and Kayla's guys take the man. Kayla arrives in time to call for a helicopter to rush Edward to the hospital. Out of guilt, Julie refuses to accompany him to the hospital. As for Aaron, he died, but his lawyer questions whether Ezra had anything to do with his dad's death. How does The Assassin end? Three months after the whole ordeal, Edward, Kayla, and Julie sail across the world to meet Edward's biological mom. Somehow, Edward makes peace with Julie and gives her a chance. Later, Ezra burns his mom's letter. The Episode Review After six episodes, The Assassin comes to an okay conclusion. The writing manages to keep us engaged and entertained until the end. Overall, the acting, top-tier humour and the amazing cinematography and action scenes made this series worthwhile. At some point, if you are a fan of The Good Doctor, you will find it a bit strange to see Freddie playing a new character. However, he slays his role as Edward in this show. The ending wrapped up the big plots in the show. We know that Aaron didn't send assassins after his children. However, everything started after Aaron and his wife killed Jean-Luc. Even though their parents have a messy past, Edward and Kayla's love for each other is bigger than the sins of their parents. It looks like Ezra never learned the lesson and is continuing in his father's footsteps. If anything, he killed his dad to get the company.

This beautiful, Spanish-style villa is just two hours from Sydney – and sleeps up to 15 guests
'One of the best weekends of my life' is a big call, but I reckon I've just come close. The first reason? I sat down to a long, sun-drenched lunch at Iron Gate Kitchen – Pokolbin's new Mediterranean-inspired restaurant – with seven of my friends. It was the kind of lunch where delicious plates of food keep on coming, stories are flowing, you're not entirely sure how many bottles of wine the table's had – and you don't really care. I love those lunches. The second reason is spending time with said friends. And the third? We spent the weekend at Iron Gate Estate, a Spanish-style villa set on a 25-acre, award-winning winery. I don't think MTV Cribs: Hunter Valley Edition is in the works, but if it was – this place would be on it. I can't overstate how beautiful this villa is. With a soft, sun-worn golden exterior, grand curved archways, terracotta tiles, a lush ultramarine pool, classic European fittings and fixtures, and gardens bursting with pretty florals, it looks like something you'd find in the Spanish countryside – and not two hours from Sydney. With seven bedrooms sleeping up to 15 guests, four bathrooms, multiple living spaces with two fireplaces – and both indoor and outdoor entertainment areas – Iron Gate Estate is also bloody huge. It's perfect for weekends away with friends (just like I did), but also birthday celebrations, family holidays and hen's weekends. And the fact that you have a beaut restaurant and cellar door just a stroll down the road is the cherry (or grape) on top. After lunch – and cocktails on the lawn at sunset – we retreated to the villa for chilled Champagne by the pool. We then made pizzas topped with sweet tomatoes, soft salty prosciutto and warm melted cheese. We danced in the kitchen and played Pick-Up Sticks around the fire. I didn't know where my phone was. I don't remember even thinking about it. We may have drunk more wine. Waking up wrapped in crisp white sheets, with views of the shimmering blue pool, well-manicured lawns and twisted vines, and the smell of bacon frying beckoning me from the kitchen, I felt blissfully happy – peaceful, loved, and, in even better news, I did not have a hangover.
